Following Ahti’s Visions.

After checking Ahti's work orders in the janitor's office, I unlocked a hidden door behind a large painting. Following Ahti's visions, I fought off a group of Hiss, barely surviving a heavy machine gunner. Using my levitation ability, I crossed the broken walkways of the Void to reach the NSC Coolant Pump.

With the path finally clear, I ran straight toward the janitor's office, confident the route ahead would be free of any more hostiles. After reaching the room, I began searching for clues regarding Ahti's location.
A wooden board on the wall held several work orders, and checking through them added new side missions to my log.

Turning around, I spotted a large painting hanging on the opposite wall. Interacting with the canvas triggered a strange vision of Ahti talking about his assistant keeping things running to protect the building.

Instead of finding Ahti in person, the painting shifted aside, revealing a hidden door leading out of the room. Stepping through the opening, I followed a glowing light that represented Ahti's visions, guiding my way.

A pack of Hiss enemies appeared along the corridor and attacked immediately. Using launch powers to hurl nearby debris right back at them made quick work of the weaker targets.

However, a heavily armored Hiss equipped with a heavy machine gun stepped into the hall, opening fire with a barrage of bullets. I tried to duck behind cover to avoid taking massive damage, but caught a bad burst of gunfire that dropped my health down to almost nothing.

Desperate to survive, I sprinted away to collect glowing health elements dropped by the earlier enemies, healing up just enough to re-engage and take down the heavy shooter.

Leaving the fallen heavy behind, I continued following the guided lights deeper into the facility until I stepped out into the Void. The path ahead was completely ruined, with two large sections of the walkway shattered over the endless drop below.

Activating my levitation ability, I floated safely across the first gap, landing on a floating piece of broken stone to reset my movement.

The glowing visions stopped right at a heavy doorway at the far side of the chasm. Carefully steering through the air to avoid slipping into the pit, I levitated over the final gap toward the door, which slid open automatically as I approached.

Stepping inside, I found myself in the NSC Coolant Pump section and immediately cleansed a nearby Control Point to secure my progress.
To be Continued...

The heavy machine gunner was definitely the part where things stopped being a casual investigation and became a full survival test. That burst of bullets nearly ended everything for you.
I wish I could use those leftovers machine guns against other enemies, but I can't.
Going from fighting Hiss in a hallway to floating across shattered platforms in an endless Void made this feel like several different nightmares packed into one mission.
The void definitely took the weirdness to another level.
Landing on that floating piece of broken stone between the gaps was a nice little reset, because trying to cross the entire ruined walkway in one go would've been asking for trouble.
You're right. That small landing spot definitely made crossing the ruined walkway much safer.
