Drawing Oranges In Oil Pastels Is My Therapy In Gloomy Days

Hello, how are you? I feel like emotionally internally today, and I feel bad for myself. I am so thankful that I have a lot of hobbies to distract me from it. I should practice positive affirmation. I lately discovered that if a lot of thing bothering you inside your head, write them down in a list or a paragraph, and I have never felt thankful about it. I used to write a journal, but I stopped because I don't want people finding out what I write about LOL.

Drawing using oil pastel is one of my therapies, other than my other hobbies. This one really does calm me, so whenever I feel like a gloomy mood is coming, oil pastel to the rescue. I've been into still life drawing fruits like an orange. I really love drawing oranges since then.

Materials I Used:

  • Paper
  • Oil Pastel
  • Tissue
  • Scatching Tool

Craft Time!

Draw the line art first, any color is fine, and then I added the respective color of each orange. Trust the process.

Color the background with a cool red color, just do it lightly in case I change my mind later, and then I added an outline to distinguish the dimension of each orange. I'm figuring out the lighter and darker of each orange in the moment.

I wanted the orange to be more dimensional, so I used dark blue to do the job. It will not look muddy when I mix those two colors because base on the tutorials I watched, if two colors are complementary it tend to blend well, and I guess it works, so I am going to do this technique again in my future drawings.

Fill out the background added layer of lighter color to balance.

Time to add texture, so I am going to use one of my clay tools as my scratching tool.

Here is a closer look.

I did justice to the drawing I felt relieved.

I thought I was going to fail on this drawing, so trust the process really worked. I hope you like it.

Thank you for visiting, see you on my next blog. :D
Please take care of your mental health as well.
I hope you are okay today :))

Its lovely how these oranges feel like more than just a drawing, the texture and color work make it really calming to look at, almost like a quiet reset on a rough day. Well done
