Recreating My Old Drawing From 9 Years Ago Pt.7

Hello, how are you? My head hurts today, so I lack productivity in terms of doing art and crafts, so I focus on cleaning and organizing my room, and I did pretty well. After that, I am going to mess up my desk again by doing a graphite-and-charcoal portrait, LOL. It's been a while since I drew one, so to ease this headache, I'll just draw to distract myself.
Today I am going to draw Kyungsoo or D.O from EXO. Recently they had their concert here, and the sad thing about it is that only 5 of them which other member have a conflict with their company, so it felt like something was missing.
Materials I Used:
- Paper
- Graphite Pencil
- Charcoal Powder
- Eraser
- Brush
Craft Time!
I chose this graphite from 8 years ago, and then I placed the paper beside it for reference. It took me an hour to find the reference, and I hope that is right, but I guess it is.
To draw the face, what I do is I drew equal size 3 layer line to do the proportions, and then when everything is okay, I am going to draw the whole line art.
And then I am going to erase the lines I made to make it less distracting when I am rendering.
Next, I am going to apply powdered charcoal on the reference. I add more charcoal to the parts that are shadows and less to the parts that are highlights.
And then I like to layer the line art with a 9B graphite pen to make it more visible.
Then I pretty much do the same thing, like adding more charcoal powder to the parts that have a darker value to make it more dimensional.
And then to make the highlights pop out more, I use this retractable eraser to lift off the graphite.
This is what it looks like in close-up.
I hope you like it! :D
Thank you for visiting, see you on my next blog. :D
