Urban Sketching And Painting Using Watercolor

Hello, how are you? I've been planning on getting back on painting watercolor, especially painting urban architecture, as I remembered the last urban sketching and painting was from last year, which is a while ago, and I like to draw on my 100% cotton watercolor, so I didn't realize that drawing using a fineline pen is not that good, but I still managed to do it hahaha. It took me hours to do it, plus the time I practice. I was supposed to draw the line art with a pencil, but I am crazy, so I do the pen LOL.

Let's Paint!

In a watercolor, I drew the line art, just trusting my own eyes and hand, LOL. I use a pigment pen for this part. Make sure to use those so as not to smudge the pen line art.

And then I squeeze out all the color I needed to not make myself get stress I use only primary colors with cool and warm colors.

And I start layering the base color, which is a combination of cool yellow and cool blue.

For this part, I painted the darker area. keep layering. I just follow and do not follow what the color from the reference.

I keep returning to painting and then adding more pen line art to the drawing because sometimes I always forget some part of the reference, so that is why using pigment pen is the best when using watercolor, because the pen will not smudge at all.

The pen keeps stressing me out here, so I cannot and cannot control how thick the pen is here LOL. But still manage to do it.

For this part, I intensify the shadows or darker parts of the painting to make it look dimensional.

And then to add a highlight to the painting, I am going to use a white pen. And I made the background blue because the restaurant is kind of on the water, and I wanted the sky blue, so I did it LOL.
