A CITY CRAFTSMAN / UN ARTESANO DE CIUDAD (ENG)(ESP)

Greetings to all readers and writers of the Hive platform, today I want to present this story that was born from my walk through my community, I hope you comment me to continue in the homemade of these hidden characters, who are worthy of being mentioned, since not all of us have that ability in those trades, which they play daily.

I borrowed a delivery bicycle and it had broken spokes, as its owner was an elderly person, who lives on a pension that is not enough for anything, I decided to take it for repair. The repairman told me that it was two dollars to change the four spokes, he lowered the rim, took out the rubber and the casing, then the broken spokes, put the new ones, straightened the rim and finally mounted the casing and the rubber again.

This process was fast, as I am now creating content, it suddenly occurred to me to take pictures of the process and while the repairman told me things about his life, I was putting together this blog. He made the place himself, without knowing masonry, the drawers where he keeps the tools were also made by him, buying scrap metal and taking out the good parts without rust and then joining them together.

Some children arrived asking him to fill their tires with air, he turned on the compressor and I noticed a light bulb that indicated that it was on, he told me that it has been there for six years and has never burned out.

I noticed that he did not charge the children anything, they are from his community, they lack resources, he did the electrical installation, he also called my attention to a strange press that I had never seen, he explained that he used it to give pressure to the patches so that they would stick well, he made it himself.

He buys old bicycles and restores, paints and repairs them, and then resells them. He learned all the trades he does by watching others work.

I thought it was a story worth telling, a city craftsman, he knows a little bit of everything, masonry, blacksmithing, electricity, bicycle repair, painting and he is also a good and helpful person, very cordial in his dealings, his name is Jesus Acosta.

.............................................................................

If you like this story, I will begin to create an album that will be called urban stories and this would be the first installment.

All pictures were taken by me from my Alcatel 1 cell phone.
