I'll be honest with you, I don't know anything about sewing or embroidery. This will probably be my only post in this community. Although I plan to participate regularly, I like to see how some people create art with needle and thread.


Voy a ser honesto con ustedes, no se nada de costura ni bordado. Probablemente, esta sea mi única publicación en esta comunidad. Aunque pienso participar regularmente, me gusta ver como algunos crean arte con aguja e hilo.

In my house we started to take out things for the cold (coats, jackets, sweaters, etc). Since in my country we are on the eve of autumn. And when I found the blankets, I remembered all the work my mother did so that my brothers and I would not suffer from the cold.

En mi casa se empezó a sacar cosas para el frío (abrigos, camperas, sweaters, etc). Ya que en mi país estamos a vísperas del otoño. Y al momento de encontrar las frazadas, recordé todo el trabajo que hizo mi mamá para que no suframos el frío, mis hermanos y yo.

I think this is the biggest tangible token of love I have from my mom. I can't help but look at this blanket and think of all the work and time it took her to make it. And the most amazing thing is that it's not just one, but 4 (one for each child and a spare). If you look closely, each blanket has an embroidered name for each child.

Creo que esta es la mayor muestra de amor tangible que tengo de mi mamá. No puedo evitar ver esta frazada y pensar en todo el trabajo y tiempo que le tomó hacerla. Y lo más sorprendente es que no es solo una, sino 4 (una por cada hijo y una de repuesto). Si se fijan bien, cada frazada tiene bordado un respectivo nombre por cada hijo.

These blankets are so abstract and colorful because they were made with all the leftover yarn. My mom collected everything she had left over from other jobs and decided to put it all together to create these works of art.

Estas frazadas son tan abstractas y coloridas porque fueron hechas con todos los hilos restantes. Mi mamá recogió todo lo que le sobraba de otros trabajos y decidió juntar todo para crear estas obras de arte.

I remember 10/15 years ago my mom spent several weeks to knit all this. I was little, but I remember how I saw her being all day with the knitting needles. Being older, one appreciates and values much more those gestures and that sacrifice.

Recuerdo que hace 10/15 años mi mamá estuvo varias semanas para tejer todo esto. Era pequeño, pero me acuerdo como la veía estando todo el día con las agujas de tejer. Siendo mayor, uno aprecia y valora mucho más esos gestos y ese sacrificio.

Come to think of it, my mother knitted many things for me and my siblings. Although most of those garments were worn out and destroyed by the natural passage of time. I remember sweaters, hats and even scarves made by her. Truly, a mother's love is one of the best things in the world.

Ahora que lo pienso, mi mamá tejió muchas cosas para mí y para mis hermanos. Aunque gran parte de esas prendas, fueron gastadas y destruidas por el paso natural del tiempo. Recuerdo sweaters, gorros y hasta bufandas hechas por ella. Realmente, el amor de una madre es una de las mejores cosas del mundo.

In conclusion, whenever I see these blankets it is a reminder of a mother's love. A small token of all the effort and sacrifice that fathers make for our well being. Many times we are not aware of what our dads do for us. From time to time it is good to keep it in mind and be thankful.

En conclusión, siempre que veo estas frazadas es un recordatorio del amor de una madre. Una pequeña muestra de todo el esfuerzo y sacrificio que hacen los padres para nuestro bienestar. Muchas veces no somos conscientes de lo que nuestros papás hacen por nosotros. De vez en cuando es bueno tenerlo presente y ser agradecido.

Hola Lean. Me alegra saber que tú mami les haya hecho múltiples prendas a ustedes. De seguro su objetivo fue que le den un buen uso a todos sus tejidos...a pesar del tiempo.

Soy tejedora y no creo que fuese un sacrificio, sino todo lo contrario. Cada que tejo disfruto hacerlo, desde el boceto, combinación de colores, tipos de hilo, texturas... hasta ver el resultado, es decir su utilidad. Abrazotes.
