Dear all HiveGarden community members, I am new here. I am not a farmer or a gardener. However, I am interested in farming now after I went to a farm shop with my kid to buy a flower pot.

Planting flowers in a pot is a school assignment.

I have an 8-year old son. He is in primary school. In January 2022, he starts going to school after 2 years of studying at home due to the covi---d drama.

This is the first week of his going to school. His teacher gave him the assignment to plant a flower in a pot and bring it to school.

Going to a farm store

I had no idea where to buy a flower pot. I remembered when I was riding my motorcycle that there was a farm shop on the side of a road about 4 km from my house. I decided to take my son to the farm store.

The store was Panda Farm. I parked my motorcycle. I entered the store and saw some farm products. First, I looked for a flower pot. My son chose the yellow one. The pot was cheap. It was only $0.4 or 5,000 IDR.

Before I decided to go home, I strolled through the store. My eyes dropped at some products. I started thinking about growing something at home.

I stopped at the seed stall. I imagined that I had harvested some vegetables in my garden. 🤩😇.
In confusion and curiosity, I took a packet of vegetable seeds and I read.

I went to the other side. I saw some fertilizer products arranged nicely on the counter.

I tried to talk to the shopkeeper.

Then the shopkeeper showed me some products from polybags , seeds, to fertilizers.

Finally, I bought some polybags and a pack of chilli seeds.

At home

After we arrived home. I asked my son to plant a jasmine flower. I helped my kid put some soil into the pot. My son cut a twig from a jasmine tree. Then he planted the twig in the pot.

How about the seed?

I did not have any knowledge about farming. Then, I watched some tutorial videos on how to plant chilli seeds in polybags.

Apparently, to produce fertile plants and produce a lot of fruits, fertile soil is needed. Planting seeds in polybags requires soil media that has been mixed with several elements, such as natural fertilizers, roasted straw, ash, and other materials.
Besides that, I should sow the seed first in a special pot. After I learned a lot about how to plant chilli , I needed more materials to make the soil fertile. I plan to prepare everything to plant my chilli seed. Next time I will share how I plant the chilli seed.
