Sketchbook Journal 114 - Mermaid

Mythical creatures!! Half human, half fish known as mermaids have always been one of my favourite things to draw/paint. I saw the little mermaid movie some days back and it was really interesting, I intend to do a digital fanart of it and maybe talk more about it...

I always start my drawing with a simple basic outline of the whole work, for this one I did that for the mermaid and fishes. These are koi fishes, I love how cool the name sounds, I added more details to the fishes like their fins, eyes and shaded some parts...

Mermaid are always known for their flowing long hair, I drew that and added thicker lines. I drew her big eyes, other facial features, and added scales to her tail, also shaded lightly on her tail and little top. I finished this by shading the rock she's sitting on, what do you think?
