Hola a todos. Hoy quiero contarles sobre una experiencia increíble que pasé el pasado viernes. Tuve el placer de trabajar con dos pequeños gigantes. La actividad que hicimos fue recortar con tijeras. Una actividad común, que no pasa de moda y que además es súper útil para ayudar a los niños a desarrollar habilidades motoras finas.

No recuerdo si alguna vez lo expliqué, pero las habilidades motoras finas se trata de todas esas destrezas manuales que necesitamos para hacer cosas como escribir, manipular objetos pequeños y realizar otras tareas diarias que hacemos comúnmente a diario.

La verdad es que me encanta trabajar con estos chiquitines. Es increíble ver cómo disfrutan de las actividades, cómo se esfuerzan y cómo van progresando poco a poco, a pesar de la discapacidad intelectual que estos puedan presentan.

The activity did not focus solely on cutting. In the end, I decided to put into practice a technique that I really like: positive reinforcement. What is that? Well, basically, it involves rewarding good behavior so that it is repeated in the future. And in this case, the experience was a complete success.

I gave the children different emotion faces at the end of the activity: sad, happy, and neutral. And I asked them how they felt and how they thought their behavior was throughout the activity. It was great to see how their faces lit up when they chose the happy faces. A moment that makes me feel reassured about what I do.

The truth is that spending time with these kids and seeing how they are growing and learning is an experience that fills me with joy. There is nothing like witnessing their progress and knowing that I have somehow contributed to it.

Remember, do not underestimate the power of such a simple activity like cutting with scissors. And do not forget to add a little bit of positive reinforcement at the end. Although it may seem simple, it is very important. The results can be surprising.
