"Splinterlands" Is Seeing a Lot More Activity—Is This the END of the Bear Market? [EN-ES]

Splinterlands is at an interesting juncture, and since it’s Sunday, I want to take this opportunity to explain a few things that have been happening over the past few days or weeks, given that activity on Splinterlands, trading volume, and other metrics have been on the rise, so it would be interesting to see how Splinterlands is faring overall right now, especially since the cryptocurrency market has been on an upward trend for several weeks and everything points to the doors opening for a new bull market. As a result, we could be facing good investment opportunities within the game’s ecosystem.

So, to that end, I’ve been analyzing the tools and dashboard provided by “Peakmonsters,” which presents several very interesting game statistics and serves as a starting point for assessing Splinterlands’ macroeconomic situation. In fact, I don’t see anyone talking about this right now, and it’s a very interesting topic—one of my favorites to discuss—since a thorough analysis could reveal one or more opportunities to generate solid returns. Of course, we should have fun, but at the end of the day, it’s still an investment system in digital assets tied to a card game, so it’s only natural to prioritize returns over the fun factor.

So, let’s look at several interesting metrics and use them to determine whether we’re finally seeing the end of the bull market and might see a recovery in volume-related activity on Splinterlands.

Analysis of the Charts and Key Metrics on the Peakmonsters Dashboard

The first step is to analyze all the metrics provided by “Peakmonsters” and see how much of this information could help us determine what we want, as well as explain the background of each one—which is what really matters. Many people may see this but not fully understand it; they don’t know what it means, and it’s important to know how to handle this kind of information—especially if you have a financial stake in the game, by which I mean “money.” So, with that clarified, let’s get to work—keeping in mind that the analysis period for all of this is 30 days.

image.png

Analysis of the Graphs

  • Transaction Volume: This is fairly straightforward to interpret, since it essentially includes all interactions recorded in Splinterlands contracts—whether purchases, rentals, or other transactions— but what’s interesting here is the analysis we can perform, since the volume is fairly consistent, with a total of 1,930,303 transactions and an average of 62,267 daily transactions—which is quite a lot. Furthermore, during peak times of the seasons, the volume tends to skyrocket.

  • Battle Activity – Players and New Users: Here, too, everything is pretty clear, since this refers to the total number of battles played in the last 30 days. It’s great because the game is more alive than ever—the numbers clearly show daily player engagement. I can say the same about daily active players, who may be past their peak, but there are still thousands of accounts playing every day. Plus, there’s the fact that there’s a daily average of new sign-ups—around 66—so the user base is growing; the challenge is keeping them all engaged.

  • Market Volume and Market Capitalization: Over the past 30 days, volume has actually been increasing, which surprises me because throughout the rest of the bear market, I’ve been monitoring these figures precisely to assess activity—and yet, in these last few weeks, when Bitcoin and some altcoins have been rising sharply, activity related to the volume of buy and sell orders, etc., has been rising gradually. I can say the same about “market capitalization,” as it shows significant interest from communities, whales, and all market participants, who are maintaining a fairly stable floor, demonstrating complete confidence in the ecosystem despite the adversities.

What is the “macroeconomic” assessment of the game?

I won't bore you with what comes next, however, I’ll speak from the perspective I currently have regarding the game and the metrics I already analyzed in the previous section—which are undoubtedly positive aspects, not only for the game’s ecosystem itself—that is, the SPS network and all the assets that are part of it—but also because this greatly benefits the Hive blockchain, since much of the activity on the chain stems from Splinterlands, so I believe that the start of a new Bitcoin bull market will, of course, have an impact on the activity of projects that are still in the spotlight.

So, with that clarified, let's move on to the conclusion of the analysis:

Comprehensive Diagnostic
  • Financial Health: The game shows excellent economic activity, as its $29.9M market capitalization has remained fairly stable, accompanied by a significant increase in trading volume. Therefore, I would say that, despite the current price of the main tokens—I’m referring to SPS and DEC—this trend will likely be reflected in their prices sooner or later, so it’s only a matter of time before they begin a strong upward momentum.

  • Player Engagement: The average number of daily battles per user is 14.7. While this is far from the 50 daily battles per account—at least in the “Modern” and “Wild” formats—the reality is that the game remains competitive and players are still engaged with the game and its ecosystem. Most importantly, this means they’re still turning a profit.

  • Market Liquidity: A key focus of Splinterlands is the buying and selling of cards, and with over 119,000 cards traded in the last 30 days, this indicates high liquidity—meaning cards are being bought and sold without any issues. Although the charts do not specify which edition or set the cards belong to, the reality is that the highest volume is concentrated in the “Modern” format.

  • User Conversion: This is the weakest area of all—in fact, I’ve always pointed this out. However, we do get new users every day; the problem is that very few of them purchase the spellbook. Even so, there’s plenty of room for improvement here, so it’s a matter of focusing more effort on this.

Final Thoughts

The ecosystem as a whole is stronger than ever; even though token prices are low, there is a strong correlation between them, however, price isn’t everything in an ecosystem—at least not right now—because what can drive it up is precisely the influx of new users, which is where the biggest shortcomings lie. Though I’m not referring to the influx itself, but rather to conversion—those who purchase the spellbook. But overall, we’re very solid, so there are plenty of opportunities for this to continue growing.

See you on the "Battlefield"

One can hope, but I still don't see any major price appreciation for $SPS unless we are selling a new set or add a significant number of new players. Hopefully they make the jump from Frontier to Modern so they feel inclined to own and stake SPS to increase their earnings.
