[Eng/ Esp ] Land snails / Caracoles de tierra

Hello my dear friends Hivers and Amazing Nature community in which for the first time I have the opportunity to write and share some photos and something about "Snails", Yes, that's right!... About some land snails that I found these days in the middle of my way for some tours made to a farm where I was visiting.

One of the things I like is natural spaces and being able to explore them to photograph what is in nature is something I enjoy and relaxes me. A few days ago I was on a farm and with each step I took around the place I could see this species of land snails in several of its surroundings; its rigid and protective shell in brown and yellowish tones attracts a lot of attention; Today they are a very popular topic in people's conversations since the news has appeared that they have become a plague here in the city of Maracaibo-Venezuela due to rain, they have reproduced very quickly.

And among so many, news, videos, comments and rumors... it is completely true that they are everywhere in some sectors, on the floor, on the walls, among the plants... According to this, this species is invasive, transmitting diseases of which there is talk of meningitis, intestinal ulcers, vomiting, diarrhea and even intestinal bleeding, among other conditions, although their appearance is harmless, it is necessary to be careful with these.

For the environment, in terms of crops, plants, these snails also bring their own, since I noticed how many of the plants that were so leafy on the previous visit to the farm were no longer there because they had been eaten by them.

To my point of view they seemed exotic and showy; Therefore, I amused myself by taking several photographs, although in almost all the photos what stood out was its pointed shell, but as a lover of nature and discovering more about it, I would not stay with that one and I continued walking and observing the environment until I found with the desired objective: "see its internal structure" which is hidden behind those shells. Obviously, taking care not to touch them in the face of so many warnings that have been given about their impact on human health.

In the photographs its slimy body can be seen, it leaves slime in the places it travels; which is infectious for both humans and other animals; their long antennae and pointed carapaces stand out in these photos.

They have proliferated so quickly, since this species is hermaphrodite; that is, it does not need to be fertilized by another mollusk or snail to multiply. And although they come from Africa, they have been introduced for years to other regions and countries, which suggests that they manage to adapt and survive and reproduce prodigiously in the midst of any adverse condition.

This has been all for today my friends, I hope you liked spending a while through this content, looking at the photographs and learning something about nature in my company. I would have liked to take a sample, observe it and share the photos through the microscope as I told @oscurity with whom I talked about these snails. It will be in other chance. ¡Until next time!
