No somos indispensable en el trabajo pero si para nuestra familia (esp/ eng)

Hello, a pleasure to share with you again!

Hace unos años atrás era de ese tipo de personas que sin darme cuenta estaba poniendo el trabajo por encima de mi familia, soy docente de aula y generalmente los docentes a parte de que trabajamos en una institución nos llevamos el trabajo a casa y eso es un error que solía cometer.

A few years ago I was one of those people that without realizing it I was putting work above my family, I am a classroom teacher and usually teachers, besides working in an institution, we take our work home and that is a mistake I used to make.

Siempre cargaba con las actividades de mis estudiantes para mi casa más que todo a los fines de semana, por lo que los sábados y domingos me dedicaba a corregir y a planificar para la siguiente semana.

I always took my students' activities home with me, mostly on weekends, so on Saturdays and Sundays I would dedicate myself to correcting and planning for the following week.

I would postpone family outings or meetings because I had to finish my work first, there were many parties that we would arrive practically to pick up the glasses for that reason, without realizing it, I was limiting my children to have moments of recreation and fun.

Los paseos familiares o reuniones los posponía porque primero tenía que terminar el trabajo , fueron muchas fiestas que llegábamos ya prácticamente a recoger los vasos por esa razón, sin darme cuenta estaba limitando a mis niños tener momentos de esparcimiento y diversión.

En ocasiones llegué a llevarme los exámenes para corregirlos mientras estábamos en la playa , ellos se bañaban y yo trabaja, era algo frustrante para los niños porque querían que me bañara y jugara con ellos y yo hasta que no terminara no lo hacía.

I postponed family outings or get-togethers because I had to finish work first, there were many parties that we would arrive practically to pick up the glasses for that reason, without realizing it, I was limiting my children from having moments of recreation and fun.

Sometimes I even took the exams to correct them while we were at the playground, they were bathing and I was working at the beach, it was frustrating for the children because they wanted me to bathe and play with them and I didn't do it until I finished.

Aunado a esto había veces que me quedaba más horas fuera de mi horario en la institución y regresaba tarde a casa. Hasta enferma me iba a trabajar, era de las que no podía faltar un día a clases porque estaría faltando al trabajo.

Pero llegó un día que mi hijo cuando tenía 7 años me reclamó y me dijo que yo no lo quería porque casi no compartía con ellos y que todo era trabajar que quería más a mis estudiantes que a ellos, eso me partió el corazón y entendí que más tiempo de calidad se lo estaba dando a mi trabajo que a mi familia y fue un llamado de atención que mi propio hijo me estaba haciendo.

In addition to this, there were times when I stayed more hours out of my schedule at the institution and returned home late. Even when I was sick I would go to work, I was one of those who could not miss a day of school because I would be missing work.

But one day my son, when he was 7 years old, complained to me and told me that I did not love him because I hardly shared with them and that it was all about working and that I loved my students more than them.

Así que analicé mi comportamiento y puse todo en una balanza y entendí que por supuesto mi familia merecía más mi atención que cualquier cosa y que mañana si llegara a faltar en el trabajo rápidamente me reemplazarian pero para mi familia y sobre todos para mis hijos si les haría mucha falta y además el tiempo es muy valioso y no se puede recuperar y si no disfruto ahorita de la infancia de mis hijos no lo haré nunca más!

Ahora en la actualidad los trabajos los reviso en la misma institución y en la casa no hago nada relacionado al trabajo.

Así que si ahorita te encuentras en esta situacion, denle un alto y disfrurten de su familia al máximo, claro que no hay que dejar de ser responsable en nuestros trabajos pero no llevarlo al exceso y extremo.

So, I analyzed my behavior and put everything on a scale and I understood that of course my family deserved my attention more than anything else and that tomorrow if I were to miss work I would be quickly replaced but for my family and especially for my children I would miss them a lot and also time is very valuable and can not be recovered and if I do not enjoy my children's childhood now I will never do it again!

Nowadays I check my work in the same institution, I don't take it with me.
So if you find yourself in the situation I was in right now, give it a break and enjoy your family to the fullest. Of course we must not stop being responsible in our jobs but not take it to excess and extreme.
