Be Careful With Words

Hello Hive Communities, It is nice to write again after a long break. I was busy watching Korean dramas and movies. How are you doing? I hope everyone is in good health.

Thanks to the Hive Learners for new content for all the members to participate. Congratulations to all the winners. I am excited to read others opinions with this topic. Let me share my thoughts.

Freedom of speech or freedom of expression is a universal human right. Basically, any individual has the right to exchange information, ideas and opinions. Freedom of speech have ability to communicate, write and express what you stand for without restraining yourself because of someone may threaten or hurt you because they don't want you to share the truth. Freedom of speech is a privilege. We enjoy that freedom in daily activities such as work meetings and gathering with people in many other situations.

Journalistic freedom is under attack because journalists investigate and circulate facts, hidden information and news, as well as feedback and opinions. Journalists have exposed corruption, human trafficking, drug networks and more. Because they make these things public, journalists have been threatened, physically abused, kidnapped, imprisoned and even tortured to death. Freedom of speech and journalism that is not controlled by the powerful is a democratic right that is being lost in many places.

Most of us are not journalists - but everyone who uses social media platforms should consider freedom of speech. Almost anyone can share facts, ideas and opinions without restrictions. We live in a free world. Let us enjoy the freedom of expression we have and make sure no one can snatch it from us. We can impact our society to make a difference for many. We are the voice of our own rights.

However, freedom of speech should be used carefully. We should be sure that the words coming from our mouths are accurate, informative and with good intentions. We can offend someone for a good cause such as to expose evil deeds that hurt others. But we should not to pass on malicious ideas or things that we have not verified to be true. Without truth and integrity freedom of speech can be destructive.

Freedom of speech has sometimes been abused. People have been attacked for things did not do. People often share information believing it to be true when, in fact it is a lie or fake news. If we don't know something is accurate, we shouldn't share. And, course, deliberately spreading lies is abuse of freedom of speech. Likewise, cyber bullying should not be tolerated. It can destroy lives. People have committed suicide because of others posts, which may not even be inaccurate. Think carefully about what your words before posting. We are responsible for our words and actions.

As individuals, we express our rights in many ways. We have the freedom to speak and not be silent. Let us use that freedom, that power, to make right decisions and make the world a better place.
