What might usual weekend for others was memorable for us.

My partner decided to work abroad just a year after dating as boyfriend and girlfriend. After three years of contract, he went home, and we married. After two years of staying here, he went back abroad again. In almost a decade of being together, the days and nights without him are more than having him by my side. I got used to spending special occasions alone, or we do in LDR way. Over the phone, through video calls. Yes, he did stay here after we got married since he was still living with his Mom and I was working in the city; weekends are only our time together. Thus, not really together but with the whole gang.

When we finally built our home, and he was on vacation for a month last May, we only managed to spend time at night. His nephews, siblings, and friends would visit our home. Yes, I understand why they missed him, yet it is also frustrating. I remember, still around seven in the morning, we are savoring happy moments cuddling in bed. But then, we were disturbed by a loud banging on the door! Kids were having tantrums as they wanted to stay with us 🤣.

With that, one of the memorable weekends was when we decided to have a staycation! Away from home and just the two of us.

One of the reasons why I love traveling with him. There is someone to leg on when feeling numb due to sitting for so long 😁.

After strolling around the place and enjoying the sunset, we opted to go back to our room. Going out for dinner was not in our plan as we were good, so we just bought some wine and Pizza.

The unit we rented was spacious enough for us: a four-sitter table, a couch with a veranda, and one bedroom.

Utensils and essential home appliances such as oven, ref, and coffee maker were provided.

We open the TV, connect it to Netflix, prepare the Pizza, and open the bottle of wine.

We talked about random things: how we met, our first dates, those small fights, and all the challenges we encountered. Looking back, we never thought we would still end up together. Considering we didn't feel any spark when we were introduced to each other.

But then, how LOVE works sometimes, the common saying love at first sight was not applicable to everyone. There are times we suddenly fell in love as we continue to engage with a certain person. Though there was a lot of discouragement while we were apart and temptations to cheat because of his so-called friends, we still managed our way to the happily ever after.

I can say the distance makes our hearts grow fonder and NOT COLDER!

And we raise our glass a cheers for more happy years of togetherness. The night ended well, and I was a little bit drunk. So in the morning, the husband prepared a hot black coffee for us, for me to make my senses awake.

Others might say there is nothing special about spending time with your partner with some Netflix and chill. For me, it is! We could hardly have this moment in our lives, especially during weekends.

That is how life works sometimes; what might we have in life that seemed quite normal for us and even taken for granted was sometimes a dream for others.

Before I end this blog, remember always to be grateful. Have a Happy weekend.
