Mi experiencia con los piercings | My experience with piercings

Un día iba caminando hacia la panadería y viene una niña de primaria y me pregunta: ¿Te dolió cuando te abriste el piercing de la nariz? Después de responderle me quedé pensando en la cantidad de información que hay acerca del tema, en ese momento me vino la idea que da origen a este post. Mi objetivo no es más que contar desde mi experiencia todo lo relacionado con las perforaciones.

One day I was walking to the bakery and an elementary school girl comes and asks me: Did it hurt when you opened your nose piercing? After answering her I was thinking about the information there is about the subject, at that moment I got the idea that gives rise to this post. My goal is simply to tell from my experience everything related to piercings.

Mi primer piercing fue en la oreja, ese es el inicio de muchos. Mis padres eran altamente religiosos así que no podía simplemente tomar una cita con un piercer, salir, gastar el dinero y llegar a la casa con un arete de más, así que mi primer piercing fue a sangre fría y hecho por mí, en mi cuarto. Recuerdo que en aquella época me lo escondía con el pelo aunque al final siempre lograban descubrirlos y me los mandaban a quitar, pero como adolescente rebelde seguí insistiendo hasta que un día simplemente no le hicieron caso. Una perforación en la oreja sin anestesia no duele tanto como piensan, hoy en día todos los que tengo en la oreja fueron hechos por mí e incluso les he abierto aretes a amigos míos de esta misma manera.

My first piercing was in my ear, that's the beginning of many. My parents were highly religious so I couldn't just take an appointment with a piercer, go out, spend the money and come home with an extra earring, so my first piercing was cold blooded and done by me, in my room. I remember that at that time I used to hide it with my hair, although in the end they always managed to discover them and had them removed, but as a rebellious teenager I kept insisting until one day they simply ignored it. An ear piercing without anesthesia does not hurt as much as they think, today all the ones I have in my ear were made by me and I have even opened earrings to friends of mine in this same way.

Si decides hacerte una perforación casera sin la experiencia o los instrumentos adecuados debes tener en cuenta que puede salir torcido, te puede doler, se puede infestar, puedes soltar sangre y hasta te puede salir un queloide. Mi consejo es que si no tienes los medios o las habilidades requeridas no te aventures y busca de la ayuda de un profesional o al menos de alguien más capacitado, recuerden que lo barato sale caro. Quiero recalcar aquí la importancia de la confianza padre-hijo en esta decisión. Si eres padre y tu hijo acude a ti para hacerse un piercing es preferible que lo apoyes y le pagues a un profesional a que tu hijo se arriesgue a hacerlo por su cuenta a espaldas tuyas con métodos o personas de calidad dudosa. Al final todos hemos sido jovenes y hemos cometido errores y a diferencia de los tatuajes los piercings se pueden remover con facilidad y en mi opinión, la mejor época para lucir una perforación es en la juventud.

If you decide to do a home piercing without the experience or the proper instruments you should keep in mind that it can go crooked, it can hurt, it can get infected, you can release blood and you can even get a keloid. My advice is that if you do not have the means or the required skills do not venture and seek the help of a professional or at least someone more qualified, remember that cheap is expensive. I want to emphasize here the importance of parent-child trust in this decision. If you are a parent and your son comes to you to get a piercing it is preferable that you support him and pay a professional than your son risk doing it on his own behind your back with methods or people of dubious quality. In the end we have all been young and made mistakes and unlike tattoos, piercings can be easily removed and in my opinion, the best time to get a piercing is when you are young.

Al tener la mayoría de edad también tuve el poder de decidir lo que quería para mí, y viendo fotos en Instagram me enamoré del septum, el que va en la nariz, muchos lo conocen como el narigon. Pregunté por mi zona quien hacía ese tipo de trabajos y llegué a parar en casa de una enfermera que por un precio muy bajo lo pondría. Estaba sudando del miedo, pues el lugar no parecía ser el más higiénico ni ella la más experimentada pero yo lo haría de todos modos y así fue como obtuve mi segunda perforación. Para los que me preguntan si me dolió la respuesta es no, me lo pusieron con anestesia y solo me dolía si me daba algún golpe en la nariz.

For those who ask me if it hurt, the answer is no, they put it with anesthesia and it only hurt if I hit my nose.

Hace al rededor de un año mi mejor amiga me comentó que quería hacerse los piercings en los pezones y hablando con ella me di cuenta que yo también quería. La verdad es que estuve mucho tiempo indecisa, pues no creía que me fueran a quedar bien pero al final me animé y di el paso junto con ella. Me encantó el resultado y aunque a veces creo que no me queda bien yo me siento satisfecha y pienso que fue una de las mejores decisiones de mi vida pues ahora me siento más segura con mi cuerpo y conmigo misma.

About a year ago my best friend told me that she wanted to get her nipples pierced and talking to her I realized that I wanted it too. The truth is that I was undecided for a long time, because I did not think they were going to look good but in the end I took the step together with her. I loved the result and even though sometimes I think it doesn't look good on me, I feel satisfied and I think it was one of the best decisions of my life because now I feel more confident with my body and with myself.

Muchas mujeres me han comentado que les gusta pero que no les quedaría bien porque tienen el pezón muy grande o que tienen el pezón plano, a todas les digo lo mismo, no importa, si quieres hacerlo, hazlo y cuando te mires al espejo no vas a ver defectos, vas a sentirte orgullosa y poderosa. Hice este post pensando en todas aquellas personas que quieren pero se sienten inseguras y no tienen alguien que de motivación y fuerza para hacerlo. Hice el post para que las personas tengan la información que me hubiera gustado tener cuando quería dar ese paso y se sientan seguras al leer desde la experiencia de alguien más.

Existen algunos que no lo hacen por el temor de que duela mucho o que pueda obtener una infección y la verdad es que todo eso depende del cuidado que le des. Mis consejitos de cuidado son los siguientes:
▪︎Evita darte golpes, que se enrede con el pelo o la ropa, así se evita la conformación de queloides.
▪︎Evita tocarte y si lo haces lávate las manos antes, llevarte las manos sucias a cualquier herida aumenta el riesgo de infección.
▪︎No te quites la postilla o costra, si lo haces relentizas el proceso de cicatrización.
▪︎No te quites la joya hasta que esté completamente curado, un error común es creer que te la debes quitar para mejor limpieza pero no es así.
▪︎Si quieres una cicatrización más rápida o para evitar las infecciones no uses alcohol, utiliza sábila, saliva o agua con sal.
▪︎Lavar con agua y jabón, la limpieza personal evita cualquier infección.

There are some who don't do it for fear that it hurts too much or that I might get an infection and the truth is that it all depends on the care you give it. My care tips are as follows:
▪︎Avoid giving yourself bumps, getting it tangled with hair or clothing, thus avoiding keloid formation.
▪︎Avoid touching yourself and if you do, wash your hands beforehand, dirty hands in any wound increases the risk of infection.
▪︎Do not remove the scab or scab, if you do you slow down the healing process.
▪︎Do not remove the jewelry until it is completely healed, a common mistake is to believe that you should remove it for better cleaning but it is not so.
▪︎If you want a faster healing or to avoid infections do not use alcohol, use aloe, saliva or salt water.
▪︎Wash with soap and water, personal cleanliness prevents any infection.
