Card: Barking Spider
Description, Statistics and Abilities
Barking Spider is a card from the Reward collection, is a Common card and is a card of the Earth element.
Level 1 Barking Spider has the following stats:
- Has a low mana cost (4)
- Has 1 attack point
- Has 5 life points and has no armor points.
- Has a low speed (2)
- it has no abilities.
Cost, Levels and Evaluations
Level 4: Acquires an attack point (1 -> 2), increases its health points (5 -> 6) and increases its speed points (2 -> 3).
Level 6: Decreases its life points (6 -> 5) but acquires a new ability: Blind.
- Level 10 (Max level): Increases its attack points (2 -> 3), increases its life points (5 - > 7) and increases its speed points (3 -> 4).
The level that I think has the best cost / benefit ratio is the sixth level.
Barking Spider-friendly Fighting Rules
Not paying due attention to combat rules often equates to losing a battle.
Below are the combat rules that favor the choice and use of Barking Spider in battle.
Back to Basics
According to this combat rule all card abilities are canceled.
All melee attack cards can only attack in first position and therefore generally only one will be deployed in first position.
For this reason the cards with attack from distance become more important and therefore also Barking Spider becomes an even more valid choice.
Unprotected
When the battle rule is Unprotected all cards that have armor points remain with only life points.
Barking Spider has no armor points and therefore reduces the detachment from cards that have armor points.
Little League
According to this battle rule, deployable monsters are only those with a mana cost equal to or less than four.
This rule restricts the number of cards that can be chosen and Barking Spider becomes an even more valid choice.
Close Range
When the battle rule is Close Range all distance attack cards lose their biggest disadvantage: they cannot attack from the first position.
This too is therefore a battle rule favorable to Barking Spider.
Now let's see how Barking Spider behaves on the battlefield.
A battle of mine with Barking Spider

Initial Statistics
In general, I always choose a balanced battle for the Share your Battle contest.
In this battle, however, I start with a slight advantage relative to the attack points.
The battle is interesting though because my opponent and I use completely different strategies:
I bet on melee attack cards.
My opponent bets on cards with magic attack
My battle formation
First position
My Goblin Mech is level six. In my opinion, it is the level that has a better cost / benefit ratio.
Why did I choose Goblin Mech?
Has an excellent attack that increases by one unit (5 -> 6) thanks to the ability of the summoner Daria Drangonscale.
It also has the additional Stunned ability that allows you to block one or more attacks from the card deployed in first position by my opponent.
It has a good number of life points (8) and six armor points.
It's a card that I often use when there are as many mana points available as in the case of the battle I shared.
Second position
A legendary card that I recently purchased.
The large number of available mana allowed me to use it.
- Has a high mana cost (7)
- Has 6 life points which become 7 thanks to the ability of Wood Nymph.
Why did I choose Dragon Jumper?
It is a card that has an excellent attack and plays well in second position.
The second position is generally a very attacked position and Dragon Jumper, thanks to its high speed (5), has a good chance of avoiding an attack coming from cards with the Reach ability. - It also has two excellent abilities: Volare and Opportunity.
Third position
It's one of the brand new Splinterlands cards.
Has a high mana cost (9) and has a large attack (5)
It has a low speed (1).
It has 6 life.
Has a Sneak ability:
Why did I choose Sand Worm?
In this battle I chose to bet on melee attack cards and Sand Worm is a really strong card in particular with the right summoners like Daria Dragonscale or Malric Inferno.
Fourth position
Why did I choose Khmer Princess?
Costs only 2 Mana and has the ability Tank Heal
It is a card that I like very much and that I use often.
Goblin Mech will have much more stamina thanks to the healing ability of Khmer Princess.
Fifth position
Why did I choose Wood Nymph?
It's a really useful card. Wood Nymph is able to increase the life of my cards by one unit (ability Strenght) and will heal, by restoring 2 life points per round, the card in first position.
In the battle of this post, together with Khmer Princess, it makes Goblin Mech a difficult card to eliminate.
Sixth position
My Barking Spider card is level 4.
I chose to deploy it in last position because it has a good number of 6 life points (+1 thanks to Wood Nymph) and provides good protection for Wood Nymph and Khmer Princess.
Summoner
It is one of my favorite summoners. I often use Daria Dragonscale when the battle rule is Super Sneak or Melee Mayhem.
Daria Dragonscale (Level 4) allows me to summon level 7 community cards, level 5 rare cards, level 4 epic cards and level 3 legendary cards.
I wrote an in-depth post on Daria Dragonscale: https://peakd.com/hive-140217/@libertycrypto27/daria-dragonscale-vs-malric-inferno-considerations
Thanks to his ability all my melee attack cards get one more attack point.
Final Considerations
Barking Spider is a good card because it has a low mana cost and a very low dollar cost.
It is a very useful card in particular in the initial leagues of Splinterlands and therefore for new players.
The summoners who can enhance its attack are Prince Rennyn and Selenia Sky.
It's a really useful card when the battle rules are Little league and Keep your Distance
With this post I participate in the weekly Splinterlands contest entitled: Share your battle.

Barking Spider: Strategia di Battaglia e Considerazioni
Ciao amici,

Costo, Livelli e Valutazioni
Level 4: Acquisisce un punto di attacco (1 --> 2), aumenta i suoi punti di vita (5 --> 6) e aumenta i suoi punti velocità (2 --> 3).
- Level 10 (Max level): Aumenta i suoi punti di attacco (2 --> 3), aumenta i suoi punti di vita (5 --> 7) e aumenta i suoi punti velocità (3 --> 4).
Back to Basics
Little League

Hey! Great post analysis!
I really love seeing the breakdown of the teams. It's not something my brain automatically will do just looking at a battle.
Very interesting your opponent went with magic instead of ranged... I think we sometimes misread the rulesets... or just have a normal brain fart. 😂
And I agree, I think the spider is great at level six... and unless your whole deck is leveled probably isn't as necessary to go higher.
Thanks for taking the time every week to make great content!
