Chaos Legion General Sale: I'M Ready! Goals and Considerations / Sono Pronto per la General Sale! (ENG/ITA)

The wait is over, today January 17th 2022 the General Sale of Chaos Legion card packs begins.
At the time of writing this post there are just under three hours to go to the start of the General Sale.
Up to now 2176,860 packs have been sold and of these packs just over 1.5 million have been opened.
With the beginning of the general sale the VOUCHER tokens will no longer be the indispensable requirement to buy a pack of Chaos Legion cards but will still be useful because they will be the requirement for obtaining bonuses in the case of purchases greater than 100 units of packs in a single transaction.
- Purchase 100 card packs in a single transaction:
- 10 bonus packs (10%) = 10 VOUCHER tokens needed
- Purchase 500 card packs in a single transaction:
- 75 bonus packs (15%) = 75 VOUCHER tokens required
- Purchase 2000 packs of cards in a single transaction:
- 400 bonus packs (20%) = 400 VOUCHER tokens needed.
In the previous days the value of VOUCHER tokens has increased even if only slightly and today January 17, 2022 a VOUCHER token has a value of $2.90.
Purchasing at least 100 packs in one transaction and using 10 VOUCHER tokens equals a discount on 10 packs of cards of $1.10 per pack compared to the standard price.
My purchase goal for the General Sale
I have decided to purchase 500 packs of cards and I will make my purchase within 24 hours from the start of the General Sale.
In fact, as written in the post published by Splinterlands on January 15, 2020:
all packs purchased during the first 24 hours of the general sale will be eligible for ALL 11 of the remaining Chaos Legion airdrop cards - regardless of how many packs are sold during that time!
This is the reason why I will make my purchase within 24 hours from the beginning of the general sale: purchasing 500 packs within the first day of the General Sale will allow me to be guaranteed to receive at least 1 card for each of the 11 remaining airdrops even if my purchase will take place, for example, after more than 4 million packs of Chaos Legion cards have been sold.
In fact as explained by @splinterlands in the post I linked above:
All of the airdrop cards released based on the first 24 hours of the general sale will be Legendary rarity and each pack will have a 0.2857% chance of receiving each of the cards. That means that on average one out of every 350 packs will receive one of each of the new airdrop cards.
Furthermore, players will be GUARANTEED to receive one of EACH of the airdrop cards for every 350 packs purchased!
With the purchase of 500 packs of cards I will be assured of receiving 1 card per airdrop and I will also have a residual probability percentage of 42.855% (150*0.2857%) of receiving a second card from each airdrop.
In addition, 1 out of 25 airdropped cards will be a Gold version card.
Splinterlands has also revealed the cards for the next two Airdrops:
- Lira the Dark
- Iza the Fanged
Lira the Dark and Iza the Fanged are both legendary cards.
In the images below you can see the battle statistics of the two cards.
Why I chose to buy 500 packs of Chaos Legion cards
The first reason is financial and is related to the estimated value of a pack of Chaos Legion cards.
In fact, according to the data provided by Splintercards and PeakMonsters sites, a pack of Chaos Legion cards has today an estimated value higher than the purchase price:
$5.57 based on the site's calculations: https://www.splintercards.com/ (using both potions)
5,818$ based on https://peakmonsters.com/packs calculations (using both potions)
Note: An estimated value is not a certain value.
This means that if I open a pack of cards, I am not guaranteed to find cards that return that exact value.
In the opening of a single pack of cards, luck plays the main role.
The estimated values will get closer to the real values as the number of packs purchased increases (500+).
In addition, the estimated value of a pack of Chaos Legion cards varies significantly in the case of using or not using the Alchemical Potions and Legendary Potions.
I showed in my previous post on Splinterlands (4 days ago) how the estimated value of a pack of cards changes in the case of opening without potions and in the case of opening with the use of both potions, but I show it also in this post because compared to 4 days ago the estimated values of the packs of Chaos Legion cards have slightly decreased.
Those who purchase and open a Chaos Legion card pack today without using potions get a negative estimated profit: -0.517$ (see image below).
Those who purchase and open a Chaos Legion card pack today and purchase and use both alchemical and legendary potions get a positive estimated profit: +$0.94 (see image below).
My intention is to open all of the card packs I purchase today, and to open them all I will need lots of potions.
I have 302 alchemical potions and 279 legendary potions but to open 575 card packs (500 + 75 bonus) I will need in total:
- 2875 legendary potions
- 2875 alchemy potions
Legendary potions and alchemical potions can only be bought from the SHOP section of the Splinterlands website.
The lowest cost per potion is obtained by purchasing 2500 potions in a single transaction:
- 2500 legendary potions:
- Total Cost: $100
- Bonus Potions: 375 potions
- Total Potions: 2875
- Cost per potion: $0.034783
- 2500 Alchemical Potions:
- Total Cost: $125
- Bonus Potions: 375 Potions
- Total Potions: 2875
- Cost per potion: $0.043478
My purchase of 500 packs of Chaos Legion cards will have a total cost to me given by the sum of the following values:
- Total cost 500 packs of cards: 500 * $4 = $2000
- Current value of 75 VOUCHER tokens needed to get 75 additional packs of cards: 75 * 2.90$ = 217.5$
- Cost of purchasing 2500 Alchemical potions + 2500 Legendary potions = $225.
The total sum is 2442.5$.
With an expense of $2442.5 I will purchase and open 575 packs of Chaos Legion cards using the always adequate number of potions and the cost per pack of cards will be $4,2478.
Because the estimated value of a pack of Chaos Legion cards using both potions is 5.39$ I should get an estimated profit of +656.75$.
In calculating the estimated profit of +656.75$ I have not considered the estimated value of the cards I will receive from airdrops.
Buying 500 packs of cards I will be sure to receive 11 cards from airdrops.
The last two cards distributed via airdrop from Splinterlands have the following market values:
- Uriel the Purifier: $19
- Baakjira: $24
If I consider an estimated and approximate value of 20$ for each of the 11 cards I will receive from airdrops I should get an estimated profit from airdrops of 220$.
This value is estimated but is also underestimated because my probability of receiving cards from airdrops will be 148% (100% - 1 card guaranteed + 48% of receiving a second card).
Considering this last value my estimated profit increases: + 876.75$
In addition with the purchase of 575 packs of cards I will have 2875 cards to add to my collection which will grant me benefits:
- more strategic choices in battle and therefore a greater probability of moving up in the league and earning greater rewards from victories in battle
- a higher Power score = better SPS token airdrop score = + SPS tokens earned.
Conclusion
In this post I wanted to share my personal calculations and evaluations that convinced me to participate in the Chaos Legion general sale and that convinced me to buy 500 packs of Chaos Legion collection during the first day of the general sale.
I have already prepared everything I need to reach my purchase goal:
- 2000000 Credits
- 75 VOUCHER tokens
Of course, my purchase goals and my evaluations are strictly personal and are absolutely not a financial advice.

Sono Pronto per la General Sale!
L'attesa è finita, oggi 17 gennaio 2022 inizia la General Sale dei pacchi di carte Chaos Legion.
Nel momento in cui scrivo questo post mancano poco meno di tre ore all'inizio della General Sale.
Fino ad ora sono stati venduti 2176860 pacchi e di questi pacchi poco più di 1 milione e mezzo sono stati aperti.
Con l'inizio della general sale i token VOUCHER non saranno più il requisito indispensabile per acquistare un pacco di carte Chaos Legion ma saranno ancora utili perchè saranno il requisito per ottenere bonus nel caso di acquisti di pacchi di carte superiori alle 100 unità in una singola transazione.
- Acquisto 100 pacchi di carte in una singola transazione:
- 10 pacchi bonus (10%) = 10 token VOUCHER necessari
- Acquisto 500 pacchi di carte in una singola transazione:
- 75 pacchi bonus (15%) = 75 token VOUCHER necessari
- Acquisto 2000 pacchi di carte in una singola transazione:
- 400 pacchi bonus (20%) = 400 token VOUCHER necessari
Nei precedenti giorni il valore dei token VOUCHER è aumentato anche se di poco e oggi 17 gennaio 2022 un token VOUCHER ha un valore di 2.90$.
Acquistare almeno 100 pacchi in un'unica transazione e utilizzare 10 token VOUCHER equivale ad avere uno sconto su 10 pacchi di carte di 1.10$ a pacco rispetto al prezzo standard.
Il mio obiettivo di acquisto per la General Sale
Ho deciso di acquistare 500 pacchi di carte e farò il mio acquisto entro le 24 ore dall'inizio della General Sale.
Infatti come scritto nel post pubblicato da Splinterlands in data 15 gennaio 2020:
all packs purchased during the first 24 hours of the general sale will be eligible for ALL 11 of the remaining Chaos Legion airdrop cards - regardless of how many packs are sold during that time!
Ecco spiegato il motivo per cui effettuerò il mio acquisto entro le 24h dall'inizio della general sale: acquistare 500 pacchi entro il primo giorno della General Sale mi permetterà di avere la garanzia di ricevere almeno 1 carta per ognuno degli 11 airdrop rimasti anche se il mio acquisto avverrà, ad esempio, dopo che saranno stati venduti più di 4 milioni di pacchi di carte Chaos Legion.
Infatti come spiegato da @splinterlands nel post che ho linkato sopra:

Con l'acquisto di 500 pacchi di carte avrò la certezza di ricevere 1 carta per ogni airdrop e avrò anche una percentuale di probabilità residua del 42.855% (150*0.2857%) di ricevere una seconda carta da ogni airdrop.
Inoltre 1 carta airdroppata su 25 sarà una carta in versione Gold.
Splinterlands ha anche rivelato le carte dei due successivi Airdrop:
- Lira the Dark
- Iza the Fanged
Lira the Dark e Iza the Fanged sono entrambe carte leggendarie.

Perchè ho scelto di comprare 500 pacchi di carte Chaos Legion
Il primo motivo è di natura finanziaria ed è collegato al valore stimato di un pacco di carte Chaos Legion.
Infatti, in base ai dati forniti dai siti Splintercards e PeakMonsters un pacco di carte Chaos Legion ha oggi un valore stimato superiore al prezzo di acquisto:
5.57$ in base ai calcoli del sito: https://www.splintercards.com/ (utilizzo di entrambe le pozioni)
5.818$ in base ai calcoli del sito https://peakmonsters.com/packs (utilizzo di entrambe le pozioni)
Nota: Un valore stimato non è un valore certo.
Questo vuol dire che se apro un pacco di carte non ho la garanzia di trovare carte che mi restituiscano quel preciso valore.
Nell'apertura di un singolo pacco di carte il ruolo fondamentale lo gioca esclusivamente la fortuna.
I valori stimati si avvicineranno ai valori reali con l'aumentare del numero dei pacchi acquistati (500+).
Inoltre il valore stimato di un pacco di carte Chaos Legion varia sensibilmente nel caso di utilizzo o meno delle pozioni alchemiche e delle pozioni leggendarie.
Ho mostrato nel mio precedente post su Splinterlands (4 giorni fa) come cambia il valore stimato di un pacco di carte nel caso di apertura senza pozioni e nel caso di apertura con l'utilizzo di entrambe le pozioni ma lo mostro anche in questo post perchè rispetto a 4 giorni fa i valori stimati dei pacchi di carte Chaos Legion sono leggermente diminuiti.
Chi oggi acquista e apre un pacco di carte Chaos Legion senza utilizzare le pozioni ottiene un profitto stimato negativo: -0.517$ (vedi immagine seguente).
Chi oggi acquista e apre un pacco di carte Chaos Legion e acquista e utilizza entrambe le pozioni alchemiche e leggendarie ottiene un profitto stimato positivo: +0.94$ (vedi immagine seguente).
La mia intenzione è di aprire tutti i pacchi di carte che acquisterò oggi e per aprirli tutti avrò bisogno di tante pozioni.
Ho 302 pozioni alchemiche e 279 pozioni leggendarie ma per aprire 575 pacchi di carte (500 + 75 bonus) avrò bisogno in totale di:
- 2875 pozioni leggendarie
- 2875 pozioni alcheminche
Le pozioni leggendarie e le pozioni alchemiche possono essere comprate esclusivamente dalla sezione SHOP del sito di Splinterlands.
Il costo per pozione più basso si ottiene acquistando 2500 pozioni in un'unica transazione:
- 2500 pozioni leggendarie:
- Costo totale: 100$
- Pozioni Bonus: 375 pozioni
- Totale pozioni: 2875
- Costo per pozione: 0.034783$
- 2500 pozioni Alchemiche:
- Costo totale: 125$
- Pozioni Bonus: 375 pozioni
- Totale pozioni: 2875
- Costo per pozione: 0.043478$
Il mio acquisto di 500 pacchi di carte Chaos Legion avrà per me un costo totale dato dalla somma dei seguenti valori:
- Costo totale 500 pacchi di carte: 500 * 4$ = 2000$
- Valore attuale di 75 token VOUCHER necessari per avere 75 pacchi di carte aggiuntivi: 75 * 2.90$ = 217.5$
- Costo di acquisto 2500 pozioni Alchemiche + 2500 pozioni Leggendarie = 225$.
Il totale della somma è di 2442.5$.
Con una spesa di 2442.5$ acquisterò ed aprirò 575 pacchi di carte Chaos Legion utilizzando le sempre un numero adeguato di pozioni e il costo per pacco di carte sarà di 4.2478$.
Poichè il valore stimato di un pacco di carte Chaos Legion utilizzando entrambe le pozioni è di 5.39$ dovrei ottenere un profitto stimato di +656.75$.
Nel calcolo del profitto stimato di +656.75$ non ho considerato il valore stimato delle carte che riceverò dagli airdrop.
Acquistando 500 pacchi di carte avrò la certezza di ricevere 11 carte dagli airdrop.
Le ultime due carte distribuite tramite airdrop da Splinterlands hanno i seguenti valori di mercato:
- Uriel the Purifier: 19$
- Baakjira: 24$
Se considero un valore stimato e approssimativo di 20$ per ognuna delle 11 carte che riceverò dagli airdrop dovrei ottenere un profitto stimato dagli airdrop di 220$.
Questo valore è stimato ma è anche sottostimato perchè la mia probabilità di ricevere carte dagli airdrop sarà del 148% (1 carta garantita + 48% di ricevere una seconda carta)
Considerando anche quest'ultimo valore il mio profitto stimato aumenta: + 876.75$
Inoltre con l'acquisto di 575 pacchi di carte avrò 2875 carte da aggiungere alla mia collezione che mi garantiranno dei vantaggi:
- maggior numero di scelte strategiche in battaglia e quindi una maggiore probabilità di salire di lega e guadagnare maggiori ricompense dalle vittorie in battaglia
- un punteggio Power maggiore = miglior punteggio per l'airdrop dei token SPS = + token SPS guadagnati.
Conclusione
In questo post ho voluto condividere i miei calcoli e le mie personali valutazioni che mi hanno convinto a partecipare alla general sale Chaos Legion e che mi hanno convinto a comprare 500 pacchi di carte Chaos Legion durante il primo giorno della general sale.
Ho già preparato tutto l'occorente per raggiungere il mio obiettivo di acquisto:
- 2000000 di Crediti
- 75 token VOUCHER
Ovviamente i miei obiettivi di acquisto e le mie valutazioni sono strettamente personali e non sono assolutamente un consiglio finanziario.

Ecco il post che aspettavo. Prima di tutto, grazieLiberty. Io sto raccimolando il denaro per acquistare 100 pacchi e dovrei spendere 400$. Mi arriveranno peró 110 pacchi (100+10), ma dal tuo post mi sembra di aver capito che è importante annche avere delle pozioni. Questo passaggio non l’ho ben compreso.
Si per aprire i pacchi di carte devi avere le pozioni altrimenti il valore stimato di un pacco di carte scende.
Le pozioni aumentano le probabilità di trovare carte leggendarie e alchemiche e per questo sono importanti.
E' meglio non aprire un pacco di carte senza pozioni ;)
Cmq le pozioni le puoi comprare anche in un secondo momento, per i pacchi se hai intenzione di acquistarli ti conviene farlo entro le 18 di domani perchè chi compra entro il primo giorno della general sale può partecipare a tutti gli airdrop, chi ad esempio entra domani dopo le 18, avendo venduto già più di 5 milioni di pacchi potrà partecipare a solo 9 airdrop, se ne venderanno 7 milioni nel primo giorno potrà partecipare a soli 7 airdrop
Ciao Liberty grazie per queste informazioni. Come compagno disgraziato di Guild (purtroppo questo ti è capitato) Ti aggiorno: ieri (17/01/2022) avevo trasferito i fondi per comprare 100 pacchetti. Ma l’attribuzione dei credit non arrivava… mi era venuto un colpo perchè per me era una bella cifra. Ho contattato il team, verso le 11:00 (circa) di sera inoltrata … mi ha risposto il team di Splinterlands ed i crediti sono arrivati. Ho provveduto all’acquisto di 100 pacchetti che quindi risultano acquistati il 17/01/2022, quindi credo di rientrare nella situazione che posso ricevere tutti gli airdrop. Grazie per l’informazione che mi hai dato sulle pozioni, a questo punto non apro i pacchetti fino a quando non avró un altro confronto con te sulle pozioni. Ma adesso ti lascio stare. Visto che hai scritto che posso acquistare le pozioni anche più avanti, riprendiamo il discorso tra qualche giorno… adesso credo che siano giorni in cui tutti quelli della nostra Guild ti contatteranno, quindi non voglio rubare tempo prezioso agli altri. Ma poi tu alla fine a farci questi servizi cosa ci guadagni? La nostra stima? Questo è davvero poca cosa… dovremmo essere più riconoscenti nei tuoi confronti.
Si @stefano.massai aprire i forzieri senza le pozioni è un'operazione a valore atteso negativo almeno nel breve periodo e a quel punto converebbe più holdarli e rivenderli quando saranno terminati sul sito di Splinterlands.
Sono contento che hai risolto per i crediti, in effetti ieri hanno venduto quasi 4 milioni di pacchi e i problemi tecnici potevano capitare.
Con 100 pacchi la fortuna conta e potresti avere un risultato positivo o negativo ma ovviamente spero che troverai tante belle carte ;). Io nei primi 43 pacchi sono stato molto fortunato perchè ho trovato una leggendaria.

Senza pozioni non devi mai aprire un pacco di carte. Detto questo per 110 pacchi di carte ti servono 550 pozioni leggendarie e 550 pozioni alchemiche e hai tre opzioni:

I know you warn that it is not financial advice that you always teach, however in my case I do not have the economic ability nor the budget to establish a strategy of this type but I have learned with your posts.
Now, I have a question and I want to know your opinion:
For $50 budget what would be your consideration, buy packs or buy cards separately?
Looking forward to your answer, and if it's before the first 24 hours better haha.

Consider that with 50 parcels luck plays a big role and you can get a lot more or even a lot less than the estimated value of the packs.
The final decision is up to you I can only give you some data to make a possible choice:
If you buy after 24 hours my advice is to buy selected cards from the market.
If you buy before 24 hours the airdrops might justify your pack purchase.
But again with 50 packs be prepared psychologically to be very disappointed or very happy when you open them ;)

I'm sorry @cjlugo I had read 50 packs instead of 50$.
with 12 packs you have a 3.42% chance of receiving 1 card per Airdrop.
You would have a 34% chance of receiving a card considering all the airdrops left.
An alternative would be to buy the packs and not open them but their value will remain on Hive Engine below 4$ at least until all the packs of cards have been sold...
I honestly don't know it's a choice you have to make, open 12 packs and hope you find a good value card or spend the $50 on the market.

Yes after being stuck in the presale and phase 2 I decided to invest but with so many assets I was undecided on what to do too.
Increasing the number of HP is always a great goal.
For the SPS tokens I am also very interested considering the future use cases and the current price which is very low.
From now on I will be in buy mode for SPS tokens ;)

BEER.I'm still not convinced that opening the packs is a good idea. If you do it for the money, holding the packs and selling them after the general sale for CL is over would be way more profitable. I'm also sitting on a heap of potions but I don't think I am going to use them.
When the first presale ended, I made the mistake to buy some legendaries that fitted my playstyle like Djinn Biljka. That card is currently sold for around 10% of the price that I payed back then. I recently bought a maxed out Pelacor Conjurer, Mercenary and Deceiver (three of the best current reward cards if you are on a budget) at around 20$ each.
I'm sure that the airdropped legendaries will also fall severely in price during the coming weeks.
In my opinion it is way cheaper to buy the cards you need from the market than opening the packs on your own.
You will receive a lot of cards that you don't need or get unfinished upgrades.
Holding packs and opening them later is a great strategy that has paid off well so far.
I still have 20 Untamed packs that I don't open and I'm keeping them for the long term.
The advantage of buying packs of cards (especially in the first 24 hours) are mainly airdrops.
After this purchase I will not buy any more packs but only cards from the market.
So I will follow a middle strategy: I will open most of the packs and the cards I don't like I will sell to buy cards I use in battle.
You're right at the moment there are a lot of cards with great stats that have great prices.
However when the estimated value of a pack is higher than the market value choosing to open and buy packs of cards is still a positive expected value choice and since opening packs is fun I do it ;)
Also with a little luck you can find a GFL....
I haven't bought any Chaos Legion cards until now because as more and more cards are released on the market the prices could still go down.
I don't buy Reward cards because I receive them in the chests and then when half of the Chaos Legion packs will be open I will consider buying cards from the market, for the moment I'm not in a hurry ;)
