Modern Format and Sneak Quest: Focus on Sneak Ability
One of the upcoming changes to the Splinterlands battle system will be the division of ranked battles into two formats: Wild Format and Modern Format.
The two formats will have separate Reward Pools, Leaderboards, and Missions, and each player will be able to choose whether to compete for the rewards and prizes of only one format or both formats.
The biggest difference between the two formats will be the cards that can be used.
In the Wild Format ranked battles, cards of all editions can be used, starting from the cards of the Alpha Edition up to the cards of the Chaos Legion Edition.
In Modern Format battles, only cards from the following collections may be used:
- Untamed
- Dice
- Chaos Legion
- Rewards (Untamed and Chaos Legion only).
So there will be:
- 2 types of Ranked Battle
- 2 daily missions
- 2 end of season rewards
- 2 leaderboards
- 2 rating scores
- 2 Collection Power scores
The only element shared between Modern Format and Wild Format modes will be the Energy Capture Rate.
When the Wild Format and Modern Format split is introduced I'd like to be competitive in both formats' competitions, and to be competitive I need to increase the battle strength of my card collection through optimization which consists of:
- buying cards that I think are useful in battle
- selling cards that are not very useful in battle and / or that I never use in battle.
- selling cards that are objectively useful in battle but only at a certain level and that for some reason (almost always economic) I'm not going to upgrade.
Splinterlands is a fun game because:
- every battle has a different opponent
- each battle has one or more combat rules to follow
- each battle has a precise number of maximum mana that limits the choice of cards to use.
For the reasons that I have just listed every game battle is different from every other and there are many possible formations to deploy in battle as are many possible strategies adopted.
In my previous post, I shared my evaluations of some cards that can be used in both formats with a focus on cards that I think will be particularly useful and functional if deployed in the first position in Modern Format battles in the presence of the Little League combat rule.

Modern Format and Sneak Quest
Today I want to continue to share my evaluations and my purchase/upgrade goals.
In this post, I'm going to focus on cards that have the Sneak ability and may be particularly useful in completing the Modern Format daily "Sneak Quest" mission.
In the game of Splinterlands there are Daily Quests and when a player completes one of these quests, he/she receives as a reward a quantity of chests to open.
The number of chests and the probability of finding a certain content (Credits, Potions, DECs, Cards, Packs) depends on the rating score/league and power score of each player at the time the daily quest is completed.
To complete the daily mission "Sneak Quest" you must win 5 battles of the game using at least one card that has the Sneak ability.
In the game of Splinterlands, the standard action of a card is to attack the enemy card in first position.
Some battle rules and card abilities can change this standard behavior.
Cards that have the Sneak ability attack the enemy card that is in last position instead of first position.
Having strong cards in your collection that are useful in battle with the Sneak skill not only adds an advantage against certain opponent battle formations, but also increases the probability of completing the Sneak Quest with fewer battles played which equates to having more time to play battles without any limitations = more freedom of strategic choices = greater probability of increasing your rating score and advancing in subsequent leagues.
PeakMonsters and its useful search filters
In my activity of choice of the cards to buy and/or of the level to which to bring them I have a "trusted friend" that helps me because it speeds up every operation of choice, purchase and sale of the cards of Splinterlands: PeakMonsters (https://peakmonsters.com/).
Although the division between Modern Format and Wild Format has not yet been introduced, Peakmonsters has already implemented filters that allow you to search and display only those cards that you can use in the Modern Format.
To search for cards with the Sneak ability that can be used in the new format I have applied the following filters:
- in the filter field CARD NAME / ID / ABILITY I have inserted the word "SNEAK"
- then I chose as format "MODERN".
On Splinterlands there are a total of 20 cards that have the Sneak ability but only 11 will be usable in Modern Format battles (see image below).
My evaluations and purchase/upgrade choices
In my search for cards to buy or upgrade my starting point is always the evaluation of cards of the Neutral element.
The reason for my choice is simple and logical, neutral cards with the same battle stats are always the cards to be preferred in the purchase because they can be summoned by the summoners of each element and therefore are the cards that have a much greater potential use than the cards of any other element.
Uraeus and Sand Worm
Out of 11 cards with the Sneak ability, there are two cards that belong to the neutral element and they are Uraeus and Sand Worm.
Uraeus is a epic card from the Reward Chaos Legion edition.
Uraeus is a card that I really like because:
- it has a very low cost in mana: 3 points.
Great to deploy in battles with little mana available and when the combat rule is Little League. - has 1 armor point already starting at 1st level
- from the fourth level onwards acquires a second and very good ability: Poison
In my collection I have a level 4 Uraeus card and my final upgrade target is level 6.
To take my Uraeus from level 4 to level 6 I would have to purchase 26 BCX and only spend $9,029 but I decided to wait because:
- Uraeus is a Chaos Legion Reward card and I can find it in chests instead of buying it.
- Until Modern Format is introduced I have just as good alternatives to use in battle.
Uraeus is a card that has a low market price relative to its battle stats:
- livello 1: $ 0.332 CP: 100
- livello 2: $ 1.328 CP: 400
- livello 3: $ 3.341 CP: 1000
- livello 4: $ 6.852 CP: 2000
- livello 5: $ 11.224 CP: 3200
- livello 6: $ 16.360 CP: 4830
That's why it's a card that starting at level 2 I recommend especially to new players who play in the early leagues of Splinterlands and want to get out of the Bronze league.
Sand Worm is a common card from the Reward Untamed edition.
Sand Worm is also a card I really like because it has great attack points as early as level 1 (5 attack points).
It becomes devastating when it reaches the maximum level and acquires the Piercing ability that allows it to hit with one attack the armor points and life points of the enemy card if the number of armor points is less than its attack and almost always will be so ;)
Thanks to Peakmonsters' BULK BUY feature, it's easy to see and in one screen the purchase cost to have a Sand Worm card of a certain level.
Sand Worm is also a card I recommend to new players because spending $0.857 to get a level 1 card that has 5 attack points and can attack from any position is a cost that is absolutely worth it.
But now I'll show you the purchase goals I want to try to achieve in the short term.
Tenyii Striker
As for the fire element, there are two cards that will be usable in Modern Format that have the Sneak ability: Tenyii Striker and Pyromaniac.
Pyromaniac is a useful card in battle but starting from level 5 because it acquires the Blast ability but it is also a card that has a quite high cost per BCX (3.379$) and for this reason I decided not to upgrade it at the moment even if in my card collection I have 5 level 1 Pyromaniac cards.
My immediate purchase goal instead is Tenyii Striker which is a card I really like.
Tenyii Striker is a rare card from the Chaos Legion edition, it has good battle stats as low as level 1 but I want to have it at max level because it becomes a really useful card in battle:
- 5 melee attack points
- three abilities: Sneak, Dodge and BackFire.
This card will be very useful to me in both Modern Format and Wild Format.
In Wild Format I can use it in combination with Daria Dragonscale while in Modern Format I can use it with summoner Tarsa and in both cases of use the attack points would become 6.
Particularly useful is the Backfire ability which, given the 4 point speed and the Dodge ability, has a good chance of producing the desired effects.
In my collection I have:
- 1 Tenyii Striker level 3 (14 BCX)
- 9 Tenyii Striker level 1
To reach my goal I need to buy 92 BCX and spend a total of 42.997$.
I decided to try and save some money in the purchase and placed a BID purchase offer on PeakMonsters (see image below).
If my purchase offer is accepted and completed I will have reached my goal and spent $39 instead of $42.99.
Stitch Leech
Another purchase target of mine is Stitch Leech, a common card from the Life element and the Chaos Legion edition.
It's a card that costs little compared to other cards that have similar stats such as Feral Spirit.
In this case my short term enhancement goal is not max level but level 9 because spending an additional $10 to get just one more life point doesn't seem like an optimal choice at the moment because I could use $10 to upgrade or buy other cards.
I have 82 BCX in my collection and to upgrade my Stitch Leech to level 9 I need to buy 218 more BCX and according to PeakMonsters' BULK VIEW calculator I would have to spend 27.34$.
As with Tenyii Striker, I decided to use the Make BID feature of Peakmonsters.
If my purchase offer is accepted I will spend $21.8 instead of $27,349 and that would be a good savings.
Silent Sha-vi
The last card with the Sneak ability that I decided to upgrade is Silent Sha-VI.
Silent Sha-vi is a common card of the death element, it belongs to the Chaos Legion edition and has a market price of $0.114 (Low Buy).
It is a useful card already starting at level 1 because it has:
- a good attack: 2 points
- an medium speed: 3 points
- a right number of life points: 5
But my goal is to get back to playing in Champion leagues, so I decided to upgrade my level 4 Silent Sha-Vi to the maximum level.
Compared to level 1, level 10 allows Silent Sha-vi to acquire:
a total of two skills: Cripple and Piercing.
a total of 6 points of speed = high probability of avoiding attacks
In order to reach my upgrade goal, I need to purchase 316 BCX because I already have 84 BCX in my collection.
The immediate purchase would cost me $39,348 but again I chose to make a BID offer of $0.10 per card.
Conclusion
Today I shared my purchase goals to upgrade my card collection and make it more competitive especially when Modern Format is introduced.
Cards with the Sneak ability are very useful in battles against opponents who field very strong cards in the last positions.
The validity of what I just wrote is evident if I show a battle of mine in the Brawls, a battle I lost.
The combination Kron the Undying + Llama Mage is a very strong combination in battle especially when mana is low because the Last Stand ability makes Kron the Undying a difficult card to eliminate when he comes in first position.
If instead of playing Delwin Dragonscale + Keelp Initiate + Furious Chicken + Creepin Ooze + Ruler of the Seas + Crustacean King + Halfling Alchemist (total mana cost 19 points) I would have played Daria Dragonscale + Keelp Initiate + Furious Chicken + Creepin Ooze + Coral Wraith + Pecalor Bandit + Crustacean King + Uraeus (total mana cost 19 points) I would have won the battle.
If my purchase offers are accepted I will have obtained two excellent results:
- I will have increased my collection of cards
- I will have saved money compared to the immediate purchase on the market.
When I'm not in a hurry to upgrade a Splinterlands card my preferred method of purchase is the BID offer on Peakmonsters.
The possibility to make BIDs is just one of the many utilities that Peakmonsters makes available to Splinterlands players.

Any game that involves the purchase of cards and tokens is never a simple game but it is also an investment and should be considered as such.
I am not a financial consultant and if you decide to invest in the game of Splinterlands you do it for your own choice, after having made your personal evaluations and considered all possible risk factors.
My advice is to always invest only what you can afford to lose with a light heart.

Una delle prossime modifiche al sistema delle battaglie di Splinterlands sarà la suddivisione delle battaglie classificate in due formati: Wild Format e Modern Format.
I due formati avranno Reward Pool, classifiche e missioni separate e ogni giocatore potrà scegliere se competere per ottenere i premi e le ricompense di un solo formato o di entrambi i formati.
La differenza sostanziale tra i due formati la faranno le carte che potranno essere utilizzate.
Nelle battaglie classificate del Wild Format potranno essere utilizzate le carte di tutte le edizioni a partire dalle carte dell'edizione Alpha fino alle carte dell'edizione Chaos Legion.
Nelle battaglie classificate del Modern Format potranno essere utilizzate solo le carte delle collezioni:
- Untamed
- Dice
- Chaos Legion
- Rewards (solo Untamed e Chaos Legion).
Quindi ci saranno:
- 2 tipologie di Ranked Battle
- 2 missioni giornaliere
- 2 ricompense di fine stagione
- 2 leaderboards
- 2 punteggi di rating
- 2 punteggi di Collection Power
L'unico elemento condiviso tra le modalità Modern Format e Wild Format sarà l'Energy Capture Rate.
Quando sarà introdotta la suddivisione Wild Format e Modern Format mi piacerebbe essere competitivo nelle competizioni di entrambi i formati e per esserlo devo aumentare la forza in battaglia della mia collezione di carte tramite un'attività di ottimizzazione che consiste nel:
- acquistare carte che secondo me sono utili in battaglia
- vendere le carte che sono poco utili in battaglia e/o che non utilizzo mai in battaglia
- vendere le carte che sono oggettivamente utili in battaglia ma solo ad un determinato livello e che per qualche motivo (quasi sempre di natura economica) non ho intenzione di potenziare
Splinterlands è un gioco divertente perchè:
- ogni battaglia ha un avversario diverso
- ogni battaglia ha una o più regole di combattimento da rispettare
- ogni battaglia ha un preciso numero di mana massimo che limita la scelta delle carte da utilizzare.
Per i motivi che ho appena elencato ogni battaglia di gioco è diversa da ogni altra e sono tante le
possibili formazioni da schierare in battaglia come sono tante le possibili strategie adottabili.
Nel mio precedente post ho condiviso le mie valutazioni su alcune carte utilizzabili in entrambi i formati con una particolare attenzione alle carte che secondo me saranno particolarmente utili e funzionali se schierate in prima posizione nelle battaglie del Modern Format in presenza della regola di combattimento Little League.

Modern Format e Sneak Quest
Oggi voglio continuare a condividere le mie valutazioni e i miei obiettivi di acquisto/potenziamento.
In questo post mi focalizzerò sulle carte che hanno l'abilità Sneak e che potrebbero essere particolarmente utili per completare la missione giornaliera "Sneak Quest" del Modern Format.
Nel gioco di Splinterlands ci sono le Missioni Giornaliere e quando un giocatore completa una di queste missioni riceve come ricompensa un quantitativo di forzieri da aprire.
Il numero di forzieri e le probabilità di trovare un determinato contenuto (Crediti, Pozioni, DEC, Carte, Pack) dipende dal punteggio di rating/lega e dal punteggio power di ogni giocatore nel momento in cui viene completata la missione giornaliera.
Per completare la missione giornaliera "Sneak Quest" è necessario vincere 5 battaglie di gioco utilizzando almeno una carta che ha l'abilità Sneak.
Nel gioco di Splinterlands il comportamento standard di una carta è quello di attaccare la carta nemica in prima posizione.
Alcune regole di battaglia e alcune abilità delle carte possono modificare questo comportamento standard.
Le carte che hanno l'abilità Sneak attaccano la carta nemica che si trova in ultima posizione invece della prima posizione.
Avere nella propria collezione carte forti e utili in battaglia con l'abilità Sneak, oltre ad aggiungere un vantaggio contro determinate formazioni di battaglia avversarie, aumenta anche la probabilità di completare la missione Sneak Quest con un numero minore di battaglie giocate il che equivale ad avere più tempo per giocare battaglie senza alcun vincolo = maggiore libertà di scelte strategiche = maggiore probabilità di aumentare il proprio punteggio di rating e avanzare nelle leghe successive.
PeakMonsters e i suoi utili filtri di ricerca
Nella mia attività di scelta delle carte da acquistare e/o del livello a cui portarle ho un "fidato amico" che mi aiuta perchè velocizza ogni mia operazione di scelta, acquisto e vendita delle carte di Splinterlands: PeakMonsters (https://peakmonsters.com/).
Anche se la suddivisione tra Modern Format e Wild Format non è stata ancora introdotta Peakmonsters ha già implementato da tempo dei filtri che permettono di ricercare e visualizzare solo le carte che sarà possibile utilizzare nel Modern Format.
Per ricercare le carte con l'abilità Sneak utilizzabili nel nuovo formato ho applicato i seguenti filtri:
- nel campo del filtro CARD NAME / ID / ABILITY ho inserito la parola "SNEAK"
- poi ho scelto come formato "MODERN"
Su Splinterlands ci sono un totale di 20 carte chè hanno l'abilità Sneak ma solo 11 saranno utilizzabili nelle battaglie del Modern Format (vedi immagine seguente).
Le mie valutazioni e le mie scelte di acquisto/potenziamento
Nella mia ricerca delle carte da acquistare o potenziare il mio punto di partenza è sempre la valutazione delle carte dell'elemento Neutrale.
Il motivo della mia scelta è semplice e logico, le carte neutrali a parità di statistiche di battaglia sono sempre le carte da preferire nell'acquisto perchè possono essere evocate dagli evocatori di ogni elemento e quindi sono le carte che hanno un potenziale di utilizzo decisamente maggiore rispetto alle carte di ogni altro elemento.
Uraeus e Sand Worm
Su 11 carte con l'abilità Sneak ci sono due carte che appartengono all'elemento neutrale e sono Uraeus e Sand Worm.
Uraeus è una carta epica dell'edizione Reward Chaos Legion.
Uraeus è una carta che mi piace molto perchè:
- ha un costo in mana molto basso: 3 punti
Ottima da schierare nelle battaglie con pochi mana a disposizione e quando la regola di combattimento è Little League. - ha 1 punto armatura già a partire dal primo livello
- dal quarto livello in poi acquisisce una seconda e ottima abilità: Poison
Nella mia collezione ho una carta Uraeus di livello 4 e il mio obiettivo di potenziamento finale è il livello 6.
Per portare il mio Uraeus dal livello 4 al livello 6 dovrei acquistare 26 BCX e spendere solo 9.029$ ma ho deciso di aspettare perchè:
- Uraeus è una carta Reward Chaos Legion e posso trovarla nei forzieri invece di acquistarla.
- fino a quando non sarà introdotto il Modern Format ho alternative altrettanto valide da poter utilizzare in battaglia.
Uraeus è una carta che ha un prezzo di mercato basso in rapporto alle sue statistiche di battaglia:
- livello 1: $ 0.332 CP: 100
- livello 2: $ 1.328 CP: 400
- livello 3: $ 3.341 CP: 1000
- livello 4: $ 6.852 CP: 2000
- livello 5: $ 11.224 CP: 3200
- livello 6: $ 16.360 CP: 4830
Per questo motivo è una carta che a partire dal livello 2 consiglio in particolare ai nuovi giocatori che giocano nelle leghe iniziali di Splinterlands e che vogliono uscire dalla lega Bronzo.
Sand Worm è una carta comune dell'edizione Reward Untamed.
Anche Sand Worm è una carta che mi piace molto perchè ha un ottimo punteggio di attacco già a partire dal livello 1 (5 punti di attacco).
Diventa devastante quando raggiunge il livello massimo e acquisisce l'abilità Piercing che le permette di colpire con un solo attacco i punti armatura e i punti vita della carta nemica se il numero dei punti armatura è inferiore al suo attacco e quasi sempre sarà così ;)
Grazie alla funzionalità BULK BUY di Peakmonsters è facile vedere e in una sola schermata il costo di acquisto da sostenere per avere una carta Sand Worm di un determinato livello.
Anche Sand Worm è una carta che consiglio ai nuovi giocatori perchè spendere 0.857$ per avere una carta di livello 1 che ha 5 punti di attacco e che può attaccare da qualsiasi posizione è un costo che vale assolutamente la pena di sostenere.
Ma adesso ti mostro gli obiettivi di acquisto che voglio cercare di raggiungere nel breve periodo.
Tenyii Striker
Per quanto riguarda l'elemento fuoco ci sono due carte che saranno utilizzabili nel Modern Format e che hanno l'abilità Sneak: Tenyii Striker e Pyromaniac.
Pyromaniac è una carta molto utile in battaglia però a partire dal livello 5 perchè acquisisce l'abilità Blast ma è anche una carta che ha un costo per BCX abbastanza alto (3.379$) e per questo motivo ho deciso di non potenziarla al momento anche se nella mia collezione di carte ho 5 carte Pyromaniac di livello 1.
Il mio obiettivo di acquisto immediato è invece Tenyii Striker che è una carta che mi piace davvero molto.
Tenyii Striker è una carta rara dell'edizione Chaos Legion, ha buone statistiche di battaglia già a partire dal livello 1 ma io voglio averla al livello massimo perchè diventa una carta davvero utile in battaglia:
- 5 punti di attacco da mischia
- tre abilità: Sneak, Dodge e BackFire
Questa carta mi sarà molto utile sia nel Modern Format che nel Wild Format.
Nel Wild Format la posso utilizzare in combinazione con Daria Dragonscale mentre nel Modern Format la posso utilizzare con l'evocatore Tarsa e in entrambi i casi di utilizzo i punti di attacco diventerebbero 6.
Particolarmente utile è l'abilità Backfire che, data la velocità di 4 punti e l'abilità Dodge, ha buone probabilità di produrre gli effetti desiderati.
Nella mia collezione ho:
- 1 Tenyii Striker di livello 3 (14 BCX)
- 9 Tenyii Striker di livello 1
Per raggiungere il mio obiettivo devo acquistare 92 BCX e spendere in totale 42.997$
Ho deciso di provare a risparmiare qualcosa nell'acquisto e ho piazzato un offerta di acquisto BID su PeakMonsters (vedi immagine seguente).
Se la mia offerta di acquisto sarà accettata e completata avrò raggiunto il mio obiettivo e avrò speso 39$ invece di 42.99$.
Stitch Leech
Un'altro mio obiettivo di acquisto è Stitch Leech, carta comune dell'elemento Life e dell'edizione Chaos Legion.
E' una carta che costa poco rispetto ad altre carte che hanno statistiche simili come ad esempio Feral Spirit.
In questo caso il mio obiettivo di potenziamento di breve termine non è il livello massimo ma il livello 9 perchè spendere 10$ aggiuntivi per ottenere un solo punto vita in più non mi sembra una scelta ottimale al momento perchè potrei utilizzare 10$ per potenziare o acquistare altre carte.
Nella mia collezione ho 82 BCX e per potenziare il mio Stitch Leech al livello 9 devo acquistare altri 218 BCX e in base ai calcoli del calcolatore BULK VIEW di PeakMonsters dovrei spendere 27.349$.
Come per Tenyii Striker anche in questo caso ho deciso di utilizzare la funzionalità Make BID di Peakmonsters.
Se la mia offerta di acquisto sarà accettata spenderò 21.8$ invece di 27.349$ e sarebbe un buon risparmio.
Silent Sha-vi
L'ultima carta con l'abilità Sneak che ho deciso di potenziare è Silent Sha-VI.
Silent Sha-vi è una carta comune dell'elemento morte, appartiene all'edizione Chaos Legion e ha un prezzo di mercato di 0.114$ (Low Buy).
E' una carta utile già a partire dal livello 1 perchè ha:
- un buon attacco: 2 punti
- una velocità media: 3 punti
- un giusto numero di punti vita: 5
Ma il mio obiettivo è di tornare a giocare nelle leghe Champion e quindi ho deciso di potenziare il mio Silent Sha-Vi di livello 4 fino al massimo livello.
Rispetto al livello 1, il livello 10 permette a Silent Sha-vi di acquisire:
un totale di due abilità: Cripple e Piercing
un totale di 6 punti di velocità = alta probabilità di evitare attacchi
Per raggiungere il mio obiettivo di potenziamento devo acquistare 316 BCX perchè ho già 84 BCX nella mia collezione.
L'acquisto immediato mi costerebbe 39.348$ ma anche in questo caso ho scelto di fare un offerta BID di 0.10$ per carta.
Conclusione
Oggi ho condiviso i miei obiettivi di acquisto per potenziare la mia collezione di carte e renderla più competitiva in particolare quando sarà introdotto il Modern Format.
Le carte con l'abilità Sneak sono molto utili in battaglie contro avversari che schierano carte molto forti nelle ultime posizioni.
La validità di quello che ho appena scritto è evidente se mostro una mia battaglia nelle Brawls, battaglia che ho perso.
La combinazione Kron the Undying + Llama Mage è una combinazione molto forte in battaglia sooprattutto quando i mana a disposizione sono pochi perchè l'abilità Last Stand rende Kron the Undying un carta difficile da eliminare quando arriva in prima posizione.
Se invece di schierare Delwin Dragonscale + Keelp Initiate + Furious Chicken + Creepin Ooze + Ruler of the Seas + Crustacean King + Halfling Alchemist (totale costo in mana 19 punti) avessi schierato Daria Dragonscale + keelp Initiate + Creepin Ooze + Coral Wraith + Pecalor Bandit + Crustacean King + Uraeus + (totale costo in mana 19 punti) avrei certamente vinto la battaglia.
Se le mie offerte di acquisto saranno accettate avrò ottenuto due ottimi risultati:
- avrò potenziato la mia collezione di carte
- avrò risparmiato rispetto all'acquisto immediato sul mercato.

It's nice to see all of the sneak monsters and I think I'll probably stick to the more modern format. I don't have much in the other cards so I think that is what makes more sense to me.

Yes I think it is a good choice to create the two formats with two separate rankings and rewards because so new players will have more chances to be competitive and for players like me it will be a double fun with two daily missions

BEER.That's so useful using sneak. Tenyii Striker I like as it's powerful. Uraeus is an epic card that I like too. As it's only 3 mana, and can be use in any splinter !
