I started playing on Terracore 91 days ago, on 23 March 2023, and I am glad I made that choice because:

• Terracore is an interesting and fun idle game developed on the blockchain of Hive
• Terracore has become a free-to-play game for me because I reached the break-even point after only 26 days of play

In today's post I share some calculations and considerations about the new game mode introduced on Terracore: the Infinity Quests.

Three days ago @terracore published a post announcing the activation of the Infinity Quests: Terracore: Devlog #27 - Quest Mode Activated ✅

As specified in the Infinity Quests announcement post:

• starting a quest costs 2 FLUX.
• you must own a Ship (NFT)
• each quest has a path consisting of several rounds
• every passed round allows you to receive a reward: a certain amount of Relics which are new NFTs tradable from the Terracore market: https://terracorehub.com/market
• each failed round results in the loss of all rewards earned in the previous rounds
• each player can choose after each completed round whether to stop or try to complete the next round

The rewards of Infinity Quests are Relics, NFTs that can be of 5 rarity:

• common
• uncommon
• rare
• epic
• legendary

It is possible to use 100 Relics to obtain a crate of the same rarity as the 100 Relics used via the Forge operation.

100 Relics -> Forge -> 1 Crate

So to recap, to participate in the Infinity quests you need:

• 1 NFT Ship
• 2 FLUX tokens

At the time of writing this post the NFT Ship that has the lowest cost on the market is the Solar Serenity NFT which has a cost of 17 HIVE = 262.38 SCRAP = $5.4480

2 FLUX tokens have a cost of 6.7996 HIVE = $2.18 ($0.321 * 6.7996).

If you do not have Ship-type NFTs, to participate in Infinity Quests you need to incur a minimum initial cost of 23.7996 HIVE = $7.6396716 (0.321$ * 23.7996)

Then each subsequent quest will cost 2 FLUX = $2.18.

The question I asked myself today was the following:

Is it worth participating in Infinity Quests?

To try and answer this question, I went to the quest-log channel of the Terracore discord server to see the latest results of players participating in the quests and I chose two case studies of two players who chose to follow two different strategies for the quests.

As a first case study I looked at the last 20 Quests played by @acidyo who is also one of the strongest players in Terracore because he has very high game stats and is in second position in the Leaderboard.

In the following screenshots you can see the results of the last 20 quests completed by acidyo.

I put these results together in two tables to calculate the total cost incurred and the total estimated value of Relics obtained by acidyo.

Each quest has a cost of 2 FLUX whose market value is 3.39981 SWAP.HIVE.
As you can see from the calculations in the table below, playing 20 quests cost acidyo 40 FLUX = 135.99 SWAP.HIVE = 43.65$.

Out of twenty quests only two quests were won by acidyo who I think chose a very aggressive strategy because in the two quests he won he stopped at:

• Round 22
• Round 17

In the table below, I have calculated the estimated total market value of the rewards obtained by acidyo.

Based on the data I collected, I calculated the financial results obtained by acidyo after playing 20 quests:

• Profit: +3.81 SWAP.HIVE
• ROI: +2.80%.

After seeing acidyo's results, I asked myself the following question:

Is it better to aim to complete 17 - 22 Rounds per quest as acidyo did, or is it better to stop earlier such as at 9-10 Rounds?

To analyse a different case study from the previous one, I looked for quests played by a player who adopted a less aggressive strategy: @johneth who is at position 52 of the Terracore leaderboards.

In the following screenshots you can see the last 18 quests played by johneth

To play 18 quests johneth spent 36 FLUX = 122.39315 SWAP.HIVE = $39.2882

In the following table I have calculated the total estimated value of the rewards obtained by johneth.

Based on the data I collected I calculated the financial results obtained by johneth after playing 18 quests:

• Profit: -59.68 SWAP.HIVE = LOSS.
• ROI: -48.76%

Final Considerations

The results I have calculated in this post are estimated values because I have considered a small number of completed quests but the two cases I have analysed can still be useful to arrive at some useful considerations and evaluations.

The strategy of aiming to complete more rounds per quest seems to be the best choice because:

• @acidyo won only 2 out of 20 quests but in the quests he won he stopped at round 17 and round 22 and got a positive estimated profit: +3.81 SWAP.HIVE
• @johneth won 6 out of 18 quests but in the quests he won he stopped: 4 times in round 9, 1 time in round 10, 1 time in round 11 and got a negative estimated financial result: -59.68 SWAP.HIVE

However, the results I calculated in this post did not convince me to try the quests.
Terracore is a game I like very much but as long as the value of the FLUX tokens is equal to the current value I will not participate in the quests because the probability of getting a negative financial result seems quite high to me...

I will continue to focus on boosting my game stats which will allow me to get probably higher rewards than the quests rewards.

I have 282 SCRAPs that I will use to mainly increase the Damage statistic in order to get more rewards from my attacks.

My current game goal is to get into the top 100 of the Terracore leaderboard in which I am ranked 181st.

Ho iniziato a giocare su Terracore 91 giorni fa, il 23 marzo 2023 e sono contento di aver fatto questa scelta perchè:

• Terracore è un interessante e divertente idle game sviluppato sulla blockchain di Hive
• Terracore è diventato per me un free-to-play game perchè ho raggiunto il punto di pareggio dopo soli 26 giorni di gioco

Nel post di oggi condivido alcuni calcoli e considerazioni sulla nuova modalità di gioco introdotta su Terracore: le Infinity Quests.

Infinity Quests Activated: Calculations and Considerations

Tre giorni fa @terracore ha pubblicato un post in cui ha annunciato l'attivazione delle Infinity Quests: Terracore: Devlog #27 - Quest Mode Activated ✅

Come specificato nel post di annuncio delle Infinity Quests:

• iniziare una quest ha un costo di 2 FLUX
• è necessario possedere una Ship (NFT)
• ogni quest ha un percorso composto da più rounds
• ogni round superato permette di ricevere una ricompensa: un certo quantitativo di Relics che sono nuovi NFTs tradabili dal market di Terracore: https://terracorehub.com/market
• ogni round non superato produce la perdita di tutte le ricompense guadagnate nei rounds precedenti.
• ogni giocatore può scegliere dopo ogni round completato se fermarsi o provare a completare il round successivo

Le ricompense delle Infinity Quests sono i Relics, NFTs che possono essere di 5 rarità:

• common
• uncommon
• rare
• epic

Quindi ricapitolando per partecipare alle Infinity quests è necessario avere:

Nel momento in cui scrivo questo post l'NFT Ship che ha il costo minore sul mercato è l'NFT Solar Serenity che ha un costo di 17 HIVE = 262.38 SCRAP = 5.4480$

2 FLUX tokens hanno un costo di 6.7996 HIVE = 2.18$ (0.321$ * 6.7996).

Se non hai NFT di tipo Ship, per partecipare alle Infinity Quests è necessario sostenere un costo iniziale minimo di 23.7996 HIVE = 7.6396716$ (0.321$ * 23.7996)

Poi ogni quest successiva costerà 2 FLUX = 2.18$

La domanda che mi sono posto oggi è stata la seguente:

Conviene partecipare alle Infinity Quests?

Per provare a rispondere a questa domanda sono andato a vedere nel canale quest-log del server discord di Terracore gli ultimi risultati ottenuti dai giocatori che hanno partecipato alle quests e ho scelto due casi di studio relativi a due giocatori che hanno scelto di seguire due strategie diverse per le quests.

Come primo caso di studio ho guardato le ultime 20 Quests giocate da @acidyo che è anche uno dei giocatori più forti di Terracore perchè ha statistiche di gioco molto alte ed è in seconda posizione nella Leaderboard

Negli screenshots seguenti puoi vedere i risultati delle 20 ultime quests completate da acidyo.

Ho raccolto questi risultati in due tabelle per calcolare il costo totale sostenuto e il valore stimato totale delle Relics ottenute da acidyo.

Ogni quests ha un costo di 2 FLUX il cui valore di mercato è di 3.39981 SWAP.HIVE
Come puoi vedere dai calcoli prensenti nella tabella seguente giocare 20 quests è costato ad acidyo 40 FLUX = 135.99 SWAP.HIVE = 43.65$

Su venti quests solo due quests sono state vinte da acidyo che penso abbia scelto una strategia molto aggressiva perchè nelle due quests vinte si è fermato al:

• Round 22
• Round 17

Nella tabella seguente ho calcolato il valore stimato totale di mercato delle ricompense ottenute da acidyo.

In base ai dati che ho raccolto ho calcolato i risultati finanziari ottenuti da acidyo dopo aver giocato 20 quests:

• Profit: +3.81 SWAP.HIVE
• ROI: +2.80%

Dopo aver visto i risultati di acidyo mi sono posto la seguente domanda:

Conviene puntare a completare 17 - 22 Rounds per ogni quest come ha fatto acidyo o conviene fermarsi prima come ad esempio a 9-10 Rounds?

Per analizzare un caso di studio diverso dal precedente ho cercato le quests giocate da un giocatore che ha adottato una strategia meno aggressiva: @johneth che si trova alla posizione 52 della leaderboards di Terracore.

Negli screenshots seguenti puoi vedere le ultime 18 quests giocate da johneth

Per giocare 18 quests johneth ha speso 36 FLUX = 122.39315 SWAP.HIVE = 39.2882$

Nella tabella seguente ho calcolato il valore stimato totale delle ricompense ottenute da johneth.

In base ai dati che ho raccolto ho calcolato i risultati finanziari ottenuti da johneth dopo aver giocato 18 quests:

• Profit: -59.68 SWAP.HIVE = LOSS
• ROI: -48.76%

Final Considerations

In risultati che ho calcolato in questo post sono valori stimati perchè ho considerato un numero piccolo di quests completate ma i due casi che ho analizzato possono essere comunque utili per arrivare a delle considerazioni e valutazioni utili.

La strategia di puntare a completare un numero maggiore di rounds per ogni quest sembra essere la scelta migliore perchè:

• @acidyo ha vinto solo 2 quests su 20 ma nelle quests vinte si è fermato al 17° round e al 22° round e ha ottenuto un profitto stimato positivo: +3.81 SWAP.HIVE
• @johneth ha vinto 6 quests su 18 ma nelle quests vinte si è fermato: 4 volte al 9° round, 1 volta al 10° round, 1 volta all'11° round e ha ottenuto un risultato finanziario stimato negativo: -59.68 SWAP.HIVE

I risultati che ho calcolato in questo post non mi hanno però convinto a provare le quests.
Terracore è un gioco che mi piace molto ma fin quando il valore dei token FLUX sarà uguale al valore attuale non parteciperò alle quests perchè la probabilità di ottenere un risultato finanziario negativo mi sembra abbastanza alta...

Continuerò a focalizzarmi sul potenziamento delle mie statistiche di gioco che mi permetteranno di ottenere ricompense probabilmente maggiori rispetto alle ricompense delle quests.

Ho 282 SCRAP che utilizzerò per aumentare principalmente la statistica Damage in modo da ottenere più ricompense dai miei attacchi.

Il mio obiettivo di gioco attuale è di riuscire ad entrare nella top 100 della leaderboard di Terracore nella quale sono al 181° posto.
