Asian Koel - Birding / Wildlife
The Asian koel is a member of the cuckoo family. It is found in Subcontinent. In Margalla Hills, Islamabad they are very common even they are found in the Parks of the urban area. Mostly their loud calls attract everyone. These calls are very loud and mostly they communicate with each other with these calls. They are very good at camouflage as mostly they hide into bushes.
I mostly see this bird whenever I hear its call. It is very difficult to find them as they hide into bushes and sit on the top of the tree. The Male koel is black with red eyes and the female has brown color with white dots on it. Mostly they live alone.
These birds are very clever. The Asian koel lays its eggs in the nests of crows and other birds. These birds raise Asian Koel's young ones. They are very tough birds and colonize in new areas. Asian Koel some times makes long-distance movements and is even found in Australia.
