TRAVEL DIARIES: SINGAPORE DAY 1(UNIVERSAL STUDIOS AND MARINA BAY)

Blog Post 12-5.png

There are a lot of days where I often ask myself these questions, "What on earth am I here for?", "What is the purpose of my existence?" I guess there will always come a point in our lives with no sense of purpose. But whenever I visit a new place especially a new country, I slowly begin to find the answers to my questions. I live life to explore. The purpose of my existence is to explore the world, to meet new people, and to help them venture in this beautiful journey called life.

I had a marvelous time taking photos in front of Shrek and Fiona's castle. It somehow resembles the Castle of Magical Dreams when I last visited Hong Kong Disneyland.

Now let me take you guys on another trip down memory lane, well, this is basically, the first series of my travel diaries. In this blog post, I will share to you my experience during the first day of my trip to Singapore which was about three years ago. This trip was my mother's and my uncle's gift to me for my 18th birthday.

Some of the photos I took upon arriving at Universal Studios. The first photo was a shot of my uncle walking around to experience more of the place.

I travelled with my mother and my uncle. My father usually does not travel with us because nobody could take care of our dogs and he prefers to stay at home as well. These photos were taken at Universal Studios while the photo of my mother and I was taken inside Hardrock Cafe located at Resorts World Sentosa.

I could vividly remember that my trip to Singapore was my first ever evening flight and I was totally mesmerized by the view of the city lights that I could clearly see from the window seat. Upon arriving at Singapore Changi International Airport, I was mesmerized. Well, mesmerized is an understatement. I could not fathom the words to describe how beautiful their airport was. We arrived at around 10:00 PM and so we did not have time to explore the airport for we had to depart towards our hotel.

Photo on the left was taken upon arriving at the airport. It was so peaceful which is contrary to the usual scenes we see at the airport. The photo on the right was taken from my window seat. The city lights were so enchanting.

Our first full day started with a train ride to Universal Studios Singapore. My heart was pumped because it was my first time to visit Universal Studios. Upon arriving, we immediately toured the place and took photos. We took lots of photos because my uncle would often ask me to do so. This was partly one of my regrets. I was unable to seize the moment of being there because I was preoccupied with the thoughts of being able to get that perfect Instagram-worthy shot.

These were some of the shots my mother took of me. I am extremely grateful to have my mother as my personal photographer during our trips. She always took good photos of me.

These photos were both taken by me. I would just like to thank my mother and my uncle for sponsoring this trip.

I have always been a fan of Hello Kitty. So when I visited Universal Studios I never missed the opportunity to take photos and visit the Hello Kitty-themed souvenir shop.

Unfortunately, the queue was long at the Revenge of the Mummy Ride so I decided to take some photos outside. We could not wait for our turn because we couldn't take the heat.

After taking the much needed photos, we then queued for the rides. We took quite sometime lining up for the rides but every wait has a worth. But what I regret the most was being unable to try their rollercoaster. I was never a thrill-seeker. I often had a lot of fears and my anxiety was often out of proportion whenever I try out such rides. Looking back, I shouldn't have let my fear nor anxiety get in the way of being able to experience something new.

The heat was scorching as far as I remembered. We were unable to stay until late afternoon because I could not bare the heat anymore. But before we left, we decided to have a drink at Starbucks then we proceeded to riding a train back to our hotel. These photos were taken while we were waiting for our drinks.

After resting for a bit at our hotel, we decided to visit Marina Bay Sands and take photos with the famous Merlion statue. En route to Marina Bay, we actually took the wrong bus. It was a nerve-wracking experience because we literally didn't know where we were but luckily I was able to book an Uber and we were able to arrive at Marina Bay a few hours before sunset.

I was actually mesmerized by the architecture of the different buildings that I saw especially the Marina Bay Sands whose pool area looked like a boat. As a tourist, taking photos here is a must!

Whenever I visit a different country, I always make sure to eat soft serve from Godiva because there isn't one in my place here in the Philippines.

A few moments before I devoured my favorite soft serve of all time! Oh how I miss Godiva.

From my travel experience on my first day at Singapore, I realized that it's okay to get lost. There is no such thing as a map as we take leaps in this journey called life. When we get lost, we will eventually find the way to where we are suppose to be because we are not alone. It's okay if you take detours or quick rest breaks because there are no timelines. Travel at your own pace and enjoy the journey.

How about you? Have you tried getting lost while travelling a new country? or have you ever felt lost while travelling in this journey called life? How did you manage to find your way back?

I love it Era. I wondered myself the same question before and then I've found that traveling and exploring other lands bring me joy and happiness. I'm glad that you're finding the answer for yourself and enjoy exploring 😉

I lived in Sin 3 years before, and Universal or Marina Bay was my favorite place to go on weekends. I was glad to see your post bringing those wonderful memories back to me. :))

My friend used to live here for 3 years, and I heard her talk a lot about it. I wished that I would have the opportunity to come here, but I have not been able to. Thank you for sharing these experiences so that I can better understand Singapore.
