Forge Bowl Event, my quick FoE get away from RL

Hi gamers!

I haven't posted lately about my favorite game, Forge of Empires (FoE).

I am excited to have fun in the Forge Bowl event in the popular online game that I'll call FoE for shorter. For those of you who may be unfamiliar, FoE is a strategy game where players can build and expand their own city, research new technologies, and battle against other players, solo or in a guild.

What I love the most about FoE is that it is not Play-to-Earn! :) I can fully relax when playing it!
Also, it is, in some aspects, similar to blogging on HIVE. If I am getting busier, or something, or someone pisses me off, I could just leave the game and not play for a while. My cities will not be destroyed or disappear. Back to the event now!

The game could be played by focusing on "economical" and "military" long-term strategy and took me more than an year to figure out that the game is developed to support better those players who follow the "military" way.

The Forge Bowl event is a special recurring (once a year) competition that takes place within the game, where players compete against each other, but not in a direct way. All the special events in the game, once fully completed, give a special event building. The event lasts for a limited time, and players must work on a daily basis, that's during the event, to complete all the event quests and collect all the upgrade for that particular event building as it provides a good boost for the attacking army as bonus % for its defense and attack. Playing the bowl gives points that increase the rank in the Event League.

For this event it is crucial to be at least in the "Bronze" as it is the lowest rank that gives the necessary event building upgrade so the special building is fully set. In order to get all the upgrades I have to complete all the event quests. Here is an example of how one looks:

Once completed, it gives a certain number of bowls, that could be used on the football field:

Once a day the event gives extra bowls for logging in too.

Everything is randomized. Each of the players gives a chance to win a daily special or another standard game item.

A coach can be selected and each of the coaches helps in a different way.
There is a special "super" coach; hiring him costs Diamonds (that's the equivalent of money in the game)

As with many other games, there are standard (free) and premium (paid) sets of prizes for winning the field. Up until last year, the premium set was able to be unlocked with Diamonds, but presently it can only be unlocked by paying with a bank card or PayPal.

I don't like that much but hey, everyone thinks they need more money in this sophisticated world situation, right? ;)

Still, extra bowls could be acquired with Diamonds.

One base and ten upgrades are required for the full event special building:

Then the final one is up to me, I have to decide do I want "Pizzeria" or "Bistro" as they will provide different daily rewards.

All the images above are screen grabs from my PC but the game could be played on a mobile device as well, I tried it on Android and iOS devices during the years; of course, it has a slightly different user experience there. Also, some of the features are not fully supported, some even fully missing on the mobile versions.

This is interesting, so since it's P2E can anyone join the game and start making some in game currency, or do you have to pay by card first or buy NFT's?

I was playing this game called townstar, through gala games, it was a browser kind of game. But, you wouldn't earn anything until you spent a couple hundred euro on NFT's.

Is this on mobile or browser? I might get into it and give it a go, it sounds cool and I'm a huge fan of strategy games, especially if they're play-2-earn.

" it is not Play-to-Earn " ;) A regular game. It is free to enter and play, Diamonds are actually given randomly for completing different quests. So you could play for years and not pay at all if you wish ;)

It has browser and mobile app versions, as I mentioned as well.

Oh right sorry man, I didn't read the not haha once I saw play to earn and heard strategy my mind was there. Thinking about it, a play-to-earn strategy game would be sick.

Maybe, there could be an in-game currency you can earn to upgrade your buildings and build your settlement. But, for generating the games tokens you need to spend tokens on specialized buildings. Could even battle with other players to compete for tokens. But, the battles would need to be fair, not a big army beats a small army kind of thing, instead what units you have is what matters and how you place them on the battlefield in the pre-match setup. Maybe could even bring defensive equipment, but the amount you can bring with you, depends on the size of your army.

Probably it is for good this gaming company hasn't entered crypto- and meta- yet. P2E sometimes kills the pleasure, you know. ;)

In this game, FoE, there are limited types of troops for each age. An attacking army can consist of up to 8 battle units. The defending army could also be of up to 8 units (when of a real player) or if you're fighting against the game, a "server" army, it could be two consecutive waves of up to 8 units again.

Also, when fighting against another player, you usually are put against units from the same era as you (with some slight exceptions). So what really matters are the type of units you choose and more importantly, the attack and defense bonuses that the special and the Great Buildings of your city add.
