Is 2022 going to be "normal"

I am asking myself this question in the last few days.

Another question I have is are we going to be able to travel more "normally" within Europe, as we use to do?

Those photos from one of my photo-travels with friends is a clear example of what I've and we've missed in the last two years of uncertainty.

I would love a lot to feel safe and free to do such "self-organized" photo-trips again, like this one, for instance, from Serbia. To travel freely with friends and people I like and feel close. In Europe. But is this the best destination at the moment? Is Europe too scared-off at the moment? Should I change my plans to Asia and the Far East? I have no idea... I see Covid isn't even included in the news of some countries. Do people there have their normality back? Too many questions, as it seems.

I went in a few countries out of Europe and there were no problem. Cape Verde, Gambia, Republica Dominicana for example are really welcome countries without sanitary constraints.

Normal was yesterday :(

Albania seems to be a good and free place to go; which is what I will do next year.

I only can recommend this, and it's not far from Serbia (and I hope it stays that good here)!

Ah, right! I traveled in Albania twice already, only by the sea, though.
Thanks a lot, a great suggestion! :)

Great pictures! Since about 20 years I want to do bw-photography.

I'm digital nomad and I'm not jabbed - and even not tested so far - and so I have to figure out where I can go and stay rather easy. This takes lots of time in these crazy days.

In Europe some non-EU Balkan countries are good, also Ukraine and Belarus I think. Best is Albania so far, only antigene test needed for entering and very low restrictions in the country:

Nearly no mask demand (officially yes, but it's only in very few shops and museums and similar), no COVID passport needed, no distance rule, gastronomy is completely open without restrictions except of they must close at 11 pm.

Also very liberal is Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegowina, perhaps Serbia also. And Hungary is interesting: You don't need anything for entering on the land border, mask demand is only inside.

Forget South and Southeast and East Asia, they are more crazy than the Western Europeans! A lot of these countries are still closed. Interesting are Turkey, Armenia, Egypt and Jordan.

Also interesting is Central America: Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama and in the Caribbean Dominican Republic

But my favorite is Eastern Africa: Tanzania as number one (Serengeti, Kilimanjaro, Victoria Lake, Sansibar; only PCR-test needed for entering, that's it, and this is officially!), Mozambique, Malawi and perhaps Uganda and Sambia

PS: I write from my perspective as a German. For other citizens there can be differences. And it can be important in which countries you have been in the 14 days before entering a country, no matter what citizenship you have.

Thanks a lot for your wonderful suggestions and info. :)
As all the requirements change quickly, I guess I'll pin each of those destinations and check out for changes.
By the way, from some of my German friends I hear Georgia becomes their favorite destination, they go there every year now.

I suspect the requirements may change to a lot better after the Omicron wave is over, fingers crossed :)

You're welcome! I thought on Georgia also, but didn't mention it because the restrictions there are worse than in all the other countries I mentioned. I was there nearly the whole last year. The restrictions were at times even harder than in Germany and other Western European countries.

It's for Germans and many other citizens the only country in the world where you can stay a whole year without visa. And it's very cheap, very interesting and beautiful and has very delicious food and wine. Georgia has the oldest winery region in the world, about 6.000 years old!

But now they demand 2 PCR-tests on entering and have a Green Pass rule in the country, also mask demand everywhere, also outdoors.

I suspect the requirements may change to a lot better after the Omicron wave is over, fingers crossed :)

I hope so! I wanted to return to Georgia this year in spring and I hope now on the next spring.

Wow... I find quite amusing how different countries have different requirements at the same time.

Georgia is definitely on my list-to-go, I even think of sailing on a ferry from Varna, Bulgaria, to Poti but I am not sure this is possible at the moment at all. Would be quite an adventure, I think :)

I'm a huge lover of red wines so I am definitely looking forward to it! :)

Cheers!

The ferries from Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine should run, maybe less than before Corona. The price per person without vehicle starts at 130 € for 2 nights (about 52 hours from Bulgaria) and full board.

I also love red wines and they have great ones, and they are about ⅔ cheaper than in Germany or Austria.

Ah, thank you, this sounds much more affordable than the ferry from Faroe to Iceland I was planning some time ago :D
