Skies - my entry today to the #monomad daily contest by @monochromes

In terms of photography, the sky could could do so many things.

There are times the sky tells the whole story.

For another instance, it could compliment a landscape. Having clouds makes each of those captures unique.

Sometimes the clouds themselves push one story into a different direction. Some heavy clouds could turn an ordinary cityscape into a scene from a drama or thriller movie.

The lack of clouds works in the opposite direction, unless it is harnessed to serve a different purpose, let's say, create a minimalistic picture. However, when I put my hand on my heart, I must say, I am very and profoundly grateful for all the clouds and drama in the skies I am given, because it makes my travel photographs better, at least for me ;)

All those photographs below I took during my photo-trips to Spain.

You probably know by now how much I love Black & White or sometimes referred as Monochromatic photography. I have always believed that while Color Photography shows the external part of our world, Black and White Photography shows the soul, the inner hidden side of everything. Stunning shots. It's funny how Wonders God made the sky to look. You can't have a same look each day.

Beautiful photographs, I do recognise a few places in Granada.
Like you I’m happy when there are clouds or mist here in Spain. It lets the photographs speak more. Sometimes give them so much more of a dramatic feeling. The just blue bright skies I think are boring… lol

Ahh, the ole Spanish sun popping in to lend you a hand! Your submission photo captures the Spanish spirit; arches and church belltowers! Great shot!

I love the second photo, perhaps even more so. The ramparts in the background and the corner of the building in the fore. The coliseum pic is also terrific; the curves are captured so well in that one. And throughout each of your photos, the clouds claiming their starring role...

Good luck in the contest!

Cheers!

Wow! These are some stunning pictures! It really shines in black and white and helps the whole composition to be more focused on the important things.

The shapes, structures and contrasts are a lot clearer.

I really like your work!

Cheers,

Thank you for these kind words!
Indeed, I find B&W expressing better the important.
While I shoot 99% in RAW, the preview screen on my DSLR is mostly set to B&W :)
