Travel with LightCaptured - Moments and Angles of Pienza, Italy, in 19 B&W pictures

Greetings, travelers of the World!

You may ask me, why only Black & White photographs today? True, colors bring joy sometimes but from where I stand today, Black and White photography is a tool, an instrument to me to tell my story better and bring the focus more on the shapes featured and the soul of each picture. 'Cause today, I want to share more personal angles and memories, frozen with the help of my travel images.

First, here are a few words for Pienza. It is one amazingly beautiful small Tuscan city, built on top of a scenery hill in the region of Siena in Italy. Yes, Tuscany has a special place in my heart and my mind, so I really hope I have time to share more from that divine corner of old Europe.

My experience with visiting Pienza, was 99% positive. And to put it all out, that 1% negative sentiment was due to the fact I had to drive around for some time until I find a spot to park our small rental car. The city, its old central part, in fact, was a bit overcrowded, well, at least for my taste. My efforts were rewarded, though, as finally we found a spot to park in an affordable walking range and moreover, it was free to park! :) Now, let's leave that -1% and focus on the remaining 99% :)

Getting to Pienza is like one of the most scenery things to do.

DDH_3794.jpg

The roads curve among and between beautiful fields, either golden, green or brown, being plowed. Some of the hills with those recognizable houses with cypress tree roads.

DDH_3798.jpg

Olive trees and sea of hills...

DDH_3800.jpg

Clouds, caressing the breathtaking landscapes.

DDH_3802.jpg

All my senses have been given treats.

The songs of the singing bells of the churches' towers.

DDH_3808.jpg

The genuine exclamations of some artistic wanderers:)

DDH_3813.jpg

The remnants of the past, now posing as pieces of street art, accessible to everyone.

DDH_3825.jpg

The echoing sounds of the steps in the narrow stone-covered city streets.

DDH_3852.jpg

And the silence that I could find in the of the side alleys and paths.

DDH_3853.jpg

The smell of fresh laundry hanging from the windows.

DDH_3861.jpg

The occasional whiffs of refreshing wind...

DDH_3862.jpg

The Beauty of the hand-made crocheted window curtains...

DDH_3863.jpg

I was really deeply enchanted by the old city!

DDH_3864.jpg

Then suddenly... a procession of those small cars that are actually motorbikes with cabins. I don't know the word in English. Thinking of it, I don't think there is a word in my mother's tongue either! :)

DDH_3867.jpg

The scent of the city was divine as well.

DDH_3885.jpg

Myriad of blossoming trees, flowers, bushes around.

DDH_3886.jpg

All those plus the views, that were taking my breath away.

Pienza is indeed a heavenly place, don't you think?

You probably know by now how much I love Black & White or sometimes referred as Monochromatic photography. I have always believed that while Color Photography shows the external part of our world, Black and White Photography shows the soul, the inner hidden side of everything. Please consider the first photo of this post as my entry today to the established #monomad daily contest by the monochromes account and community and supported by the qurator account, thank you everyone for your hard and continuous efforts to build and grow this great community!

Heavenly is the understatement of the century, superb shots. So much variety and depth in these. I flicked through them several times and found myself smilking ( and also wishing I had taken them myself 😉)

Pienza is definitely a heavenly place! You've captured its beauty perfectly in your photos. I love the way you used black and white photography to emphasize the shapes and textures of the city. The photos of the winding roads, the olive trees, and the clouds are especially stunning.

Incredible natural beauty. I like the shooting technique that my friend has done. The pictures that my friends provide really really make me like it.
