Hello friends, how are you? 👋👋 I want to show you one of the most beautiful buildings I have ever seen. A few weeks ago I made a trip to the province of Cienfuegos. In one of my outings I approached this place as I was trying to book to go in the evening for dinner with my family and I was captivated, in the end we decided on another, as it was a little far away, luckily I was careful to take pictures when I was in it and so I can show you because it is really beautiful with an impressive work.

I researched and was able to learn that its construction was completed in 1917, after starting in 1913 when it was owned by Alejandro Suero Balbín, who gave it to his daughter married to Asciclo del Valle y Bueno who finished it.
This beautiful building was built by the Italian architect Alfredo Colli. It has a Moorish look, influenced by several other styles. Almost all the materials used were imported, except for the mahogany used in the doors and windows, which was Cuban.

It is located on Calle 37 corner Ave.0, in Punta Gorda, one of the most beautiful areas of Cienfuegos, although a little far from downtown. It is currently a large Restaurant with Terrace and Bar. The basement is a wine cellar, which was closed during the pandemic and is still not open to the public. I did not visit the whole place because as I told you I was planning to return, so exploring it in its entirety is a pending task.

When I was in front of that Palace my eyes didn't know what to look at, I tried to put some order to my senses, in the end I didn't succeed 😅, I took pictures like a fast, violent and fleeting whirlwind. It was only until I got to Havana and started to calmly look at the photos that I realized I could have taken much better pictures. The fact is that this building has a decoration that floods the senses, every time I captured an image I observed something that captivated me more and so I walked around the place without knowing where to look. My nephew who accompanied me, constantly pointed out a different detail, he was also captivated, so although I did not go through it completely I have many things I can show you.

The building is surrounded by a green painted gate, with beautiful wrought iron work, the gate is on a very well preserved wall, in addition to lush vegetation. In front, tall royal palm trees, which despite the styles represented in the building, always mark our identity.

Observing the facade, in the center there is a marble staircase and on both sides there are two sphinxes, at the top of the staircase there is a wide central arch in the shape of a horseshoe. Above the arch there are two coats of arms, I have not been able to discern its meaning, some will have done it...😅😅, for me it only reaffirms the opulence that the owner of the place wanted to emphasize.

1-IMG_20230115_141049.jpg

1-IMG_20230115_140921.jpg

On each side of the arch are two rectangles with spectacular wrought iron work and the straight columns that border them are fully drawn, adjoining them on each side are 3 smaller horseshoe-shaped arches, supported by columns.

1-IMG_20230115_140954.jpg

1-IMG_20230115_140957.jpg

On the second floor there are three small horseshoe arches, with marble columns between them, covered with wooden windows and stained glass windows, on both sides there are 6 smaller pointed arches, I love the arches and columns. I looked insistently and wondered .... how they will be able to paint all those brocades...🤔🤔

1-IMG_20230115_141704.jpg

The entire top edge is adorned with cornices and drawn shells. At the top are three towers, one in the shape of a copula, where I noticed some visitors peering out as if it were a lookout. The central tower has an Indian style and the one on the far right reminds me of a castle tower, but with many ornaments.

1-IMG_20230115_141005.jpg

1-IMG_20230115_141055.jpg

As I go up the stairs and walk through the corridors of the second floor, the first thing I notice are the marble floors and on them there are different engravings of warriors on horseback in combat position, just in front of the main entrance there is an engraving that I associate with the initials of the owners, the letters A, V, B are observed intertwined in the center of the shield, his name is Acisclo del Valle y Blanco. Near the walls the drawing of the floor forms a border..

1-IMG_20230115_141058.jpg

1-IMG_20230115_141434.jpg

The walls, ceilings, windows and doors of the corridor continue to show arches and decorations, the ceilings with borders in combination with the decorations of the walls and in the center of both sides of the corridor hang elegant lamps quite simple for the whole decoration, this detail I see it right.

1-IMG_20230115_141008.jpg

1-IMG_20230115_141349.jpg

1-IMG_20230115_141359.jpg

The frame of the main door is very decorated mainly in the upper part where stained glass windows, balusters and borders are included. If we look inside we see that this is repeated in the interior frames. The main door is of wood of two leaves totally carved, with a shield to the center and arms of the medieval time are seen.

1-IMG_20230115_141405.jpg

1-IMG_20230115_141138.jpg

1-IMG_20230115_141143.jpg

There is a central hallway linking the second floor rooms that has a mosaic floor as drawn as the walls and ceilings hahaha, really a waste of ornaments everywhere. I was only able to visit the three rooms on the lower floor and the back terrace.

1-IMG_20230115_141110.jpg

1-IMG_20230115_141407-001.jpg

1-IMG_20230115_141354.jpg

1-IMG_20230115_141333.jpg

The first room, which I suppose was the entrance hall of the house, is the most ornate. It has marble columns, arches, tiled walls one meter high, ceilings with wide borders and rosettes that cover almost the entire ceiling. There is a wide staircase leading to the second floor, made of marble with bronze railings and marble handrails.

1-IMG_20230115_141155.jpg

1-IMG_20230115_141150.jpg

These are the ceilings of the adjoining room, it was what captivated me the most and the stained glass windows of the dividing doors, in this one the color pink was predominant. I am very sorry that the reflection of the sunlight did not allow me to take better pictures. They are very well lit rooms.

1-IMG_20230115_141232.jpg

1-IMG_20230115_141226.jpg

In the third room is a living room where the decor simulates columns on the walls and the ceiling is again very worked, the golden color predominates, with large windows decorated with stained glass, all an artistic work. In front of the first hall there is a wide marble staircase with bronze railings and marble handrails that leads to the second floor, which I did not visit, but from what I saw on the second floor I can almost imagine it.

1-IMG_20230115_140628.jpg

At the end of the hallway leads to a terrace that has stairs leading to the Ave 0, being another entrance or exit, in it I saw more marked the Gothic style by the pointed arches.

Friends as you could see I did not exaggerate a bit when I said that I was spellbound in front of this Palace built more than a century ago, it is very well preserved despite the time, it is a jewel of Cuban architecture, I hope you all like it like me and that you have not ended up as crammed as I was at one point hahaha, greetings to all and I wish you a splendid weekend. See you all!!!

@lileisabel I have never seen anything more beautiful, I have saved your publication to see the images on my computer in more detail. Truly beautiful.
Reminds me a little bit of Arabian constructions, I don't know.... Anything I write to you about the place doesn't do it honor. I imagine you were impressed with so much beauty.

Friend, when I was in that place it was crazy, I didn't know what to look at, because there are so many different styles in one building and everything done in such detail, really amazing. If you are there I know the same would happen to you ❤️

This Beautiful Palace is truly impressive, Cuba is undoubtedly a Tourist and Architectural paradise. It is wonderful to see how this great structure is preserved. It looks impeccable despite the years it has, it shows that they strive to keep it splendid. Thank you very much for sharing, and definitely It has happened to me when I'm in front of a great architecture, I don't know where to start hehehe and I haven't taken better photos out of despair hehehe, Blessings to you Dear Friend @lileisabel

It's very exciting and when that happens, we don't always react with common sense, our senses are clouded, I went to look for information and I could barely attend to the girl who was serving me, my eyes wouldn't stop, I imagine that it was probably very uncomfortable for her, because we don't even realize what we do 😅

Greetings @lileisabel I was shocked with so much luxury ornament in one place, the palace has so many impressive details that you do not know which one to admire, if the ceiling, walls, stairs, columns, chandeliers, windows, floors, it is an architectural jewel that is very well preserved. Thank you for sharing this architectural spectacle and blessings.

You don't even have to know dear, just admiring it is enough, I'm not an architect, I just admire the architecture of buildings, monuments, parks and cities that convey something to me. I'm sure that in Ciego there are many interesting things that you can show us. A kiss from Havana ❤️

For me it was a pleasure to show them to you, I was so amazed when I saw it that I took many photos of it hahaha. This building has a great mix of styles, that's why you can see the similarity in some details with mosques, it has a bit of everything, it's an architectural jewel and what I like the most is that after so many years we can still appreciate it with the same finesse.👋

Hello Lisette. What a beautiful place, you can see that the designers really liked the details and decorations hahaha. It is true that after a while everything together can be overwhelming, but at the same time it is what makes it beautiful. Great place, thanks for sharing it and your photos are very nice ❤️.

Hola Lisette.

Saludos 👋👋

That's right dear, when I left there I was still confused or even half dazed, I arrived at my niece's house which is miles away and she wouldn't stop talking about that place and look, I went to many others, but what it produced in me, that building was amazing. Greetings 👋👋

Wow! What a fabulous palace with plenty of interesting characteristics @lileisabel! I really wasn't expecting this Moorish architectural signature to be found in Cuba as most of the design influences there are Spanish Colonial, is that right? The details are simply astounding and I'm pretty sure it took a lot of care in producing those masterpieces. 😊

Are there many buildings in your country that are built with similar Islamic styles apart from the mosques?

You are right , here in Cuba colonial architecture prevails , even I was super surprised when I found this architectural jewel , I had never been able to appreciate something like that and so close , I'm sure I will return to that place because I could only see very little. I can not be absolute with your question because more and more I stumble upon amazing things in my piais , I must keep exploring to have more arguments , although many I have not really seen . 😊

Holy cow, you're right, every detail is beautiful. You don't know which way to look. I think they should have loungers or beds so you can admire the ceiling decorations in detail, without ending up with a sore neck. hahaha.

The arched windows remind me of the tales of the Thousand and One Nights! as a weird thing I already started to fantasize. I wonder who lived there?

Haha good idea about the loungers, I left dizzy, but very excited. I can't imagine living in a place like that, I'm a simple person but I love all those details, I would spend it contemplating and adoring my house, dreaming with open eyes 😅
