The temperature is very high as the weather forecast already warned us about it, I was with one of my friends for a doctor's appointment, and my friend is suffering from cataracts in one eye so he really needs to get rid of it. In the clinic, we met with a charming young lady. At that time I had no idea that she was a doctor. Then an optometrist, a beautiful and charming female doctor from the clinic, take the exam - knowing that he on be able to see with the prescription that she has created and the result is quite dramatic. He should get the new glasses next week - she wants him to try these for 6 months and if his vision gets worse, she will schedule an operation and the 3 months of follow-up exams to make sure that all is fine.

After we finished everything, we went outside as it was too hot to take the hit; we didn't waste time, took a rickshaw & headed for home. We've been experiencing the same weather for a few days. Summer is not my favorite season. However, I spent this afternoon bringing potted flowers back inside as the temperature is expected to drop close to tolerable levels - and only a couple of days ago it was 100 F! I had to find frames and create mats for all of the original art in the room which has been hidden away in boxes for years.

With the sun shining so brightly these days, I desperately needed a small refrigerator to keep me cool. I just heard a news brief on the radio this morning that temperatures in India and Pakistan have in some regions reached 120 F - which is enough to give heat stroke and cause death very quickly - I definitely need a nice small fridge in my room for cold drinks(maybe I will buy one soon).

Very often we visit our village nowadays, I still remember the day when used to live in a Terai village and the temperature would reach 105 F, nothing moved in the village, everyone stayed indoors or went to lay down on the veranda that surrounded the village temple - the streets were deserted - not even a dog moved or barked!

There were two big ponds, side by side, on the edge of the village and when the winter wheat was threshed, there was a huge pile of straw, and at night the village boys would take a bed cover and we would sleep on top of the haystack to catch the cool breeze from the wind blowing over the ponds. Several times a day, we would go to the deep well beside the temple in the mango orchard wearing only a lungi and carrying a towel, and we would pour buckets of water over each other to cool down! These are all memories now, but because the weather is so hot, we need to drink plenty of water, veggies, and lemon juice to stay hydrated.
