What are your commenting habits?

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

The activity of commenting on hive is often undervalued but it's actually a great way to build relations and draw attention to us.

The mission today:
We would like to know what your commenting habits are? How often do you comment? Where do you comment? Why?

In the video I present my own commenting habits that I'm not really happy about.

Write your answer in a comment below this post to take part in the Liotes Mission.

The Liotes Mission

By taking part in the Liotes missions, you can win credits that will help you to increase your score and your title in the Liotes Ranking.

People who submit an answer will get 4 credits for the Liotes ranking.

We are very grateful if you enter the challenge within 24 hours after the post is published. We will try to count entries up to 36 hours after publication.

I have a habit of interacting with any post that interests me as often as I can. This can be from any community. I as well make sure I reply to anyone who comments on my post as a way of appreciating them for reading my content.

My commenting habits need work, lol.

This is a timely post because my goal for the last quarter of the year is to get more involved again with commenting and interacting.

I believe this is a great goal to set for yourself. I think it can help to define a number of comments that you want to do daily.

Thanks. I was considering setting a number goal but I think I'm going to let flow organically based on the content I find. And maybe once I become more consistent I'll reconsider that. But for now it's just about the activity.

Well, I don't know if I have a habit, I think not. When I have time I go to Hive and read what interests me. Then sometimes I comment although I should do it more. But above all, she left tip tokens to support the creators.

I know I must improve my commenting habits. I do far too little in reality. Most of my comments tend to be on sports related posts, which i find most interesting being a lover of US Sports and Football/Rugby League here in the UK. Just need to get into a better routine.

The most important thing is to comment and I think it's much easier to do so on topics that we are interested in.

I comment 1. when I have something to say and 2. to respond to comments on my own work.

I tend to overthink what I say, so I usually only comment on posts if I feel like I have something worthwhile to add. Even then I reread the comment 5-10 times to make sure it sounds ok, and then sometimes still decide to delete it lol. !LUV

I totally get what you mean. It was the same for me some time back. With time I started to care a bit less and sometimes my comments aren't top quality but we can't be perfect lol

I honestly like reading and liking, but not commenting often. It's just me. Sometimes, I feel that what I have to say is pretty basic and do not elicit nice responses. LOL! So, I usually just reserve my comments when needed -- like joining @liotes missions. Teehee

Happy midweek!

It's not always easy to find something meaningful to add but I realized that it can just be nice to get a comment appreciating the post.

I generally try visit at least 5 other peoples posts and comment a day Minimum
Just follow any curation collection and hit those post that is what they are for anyway.

I try to aim for at least 15 more if i can.😎
I reply to comments on my posts as well sometimes i fall behind and it takes a couple of days to catch up though to be honest.

I have found on Hive to be honest not directing shade at you for this post, but the people complaining and telling others to comment on other peoples stuff are normally the worst for commenting themselves.

We encourage people into action by leading not ordering, we also need to take other factors into consideration like peoples time limits and hectic life events, abilities, hardware or maybe they have not got enough resources to do more.

Tip most of the We Are Alive Curation Collections have contest draws, so it is a win win when you comment there.

Have the best day @achim03 @liotes

With all of the time I have spent at work lately, I haven't been leaving many comments lately. Since I focus a lot on play2earn, enter a lot of giveaways. I will also sometimes comment on posts I read that were advertised in ListNerds.

I like commenting but I'm pretty hit or miss with it over the summer months. My business is seasonal so I don't have much time to get everything I want done while it's busy. Over the winter, when it slows down, you'll usually find me in the top ten of the commenters in the engagement league on LEO.

I enjoy commenting and interacting with people but it definitely takes time. I usually try to comment with every vote I give during my slow months. While I'm busy, it's all I can do sometimes just to get my votes in.

Using the time at our disposition is crucial. I also comment when there is enough time to do it. As you said it can be pretty time consuming but I believe it's quite rewarding and enables building nice relations.

Last year I had a goal of commenting on 10 posts per day which I found was very hard to do and make sure the comment was meaningful. Now I just make meaningful comments on 3-5 posts per day as I have time. Take care.

Yes, this is the hardest part for me too. It's hard to make a meaningful comment and I seldom find someone who doesn't like my comment as from his point of view it's a negative comment. 🤔

10 is pretty difficult and requires a lot of time (reading the post, coming up with a coment, writing the comment...). I also realise sometimes that I read a post and then I don't get any inspiration for a comment and I have to skip it :-)

Yes, that was happening to me about creating that many comments so I cut back and now comment not as frequently.

I will comment when I find a post interesting to me.
I do this to build relationships and encouragement to the author.
If a topic is not something that I find interesting, I will still upvote the post.
I try to answer everyone who comments on my work.

Good challenge this week.

I do have a list of writers that I follow and read everyday. If I have some interesting thoughts to share, I would comment in the post. Otherwise I will just give an upvote - because I don't want to be commenting for the sake for commenting (if you get what I mean). :)

My commenting goals are always the ones most difficult to achieve. Fortunately I get a lot of comments on the Liotes missions posts, to compensate for it lol

Well, I was about to achieve mine, but I thought I should push myself since there is still time until the year-end. What I didn't realize is that I was quite comfortable with the number of comments I made weekly, and moving one notch higher will require some effort.

Depends on the topics. 🤔I'm not quite a commenter to random posts...
Usual comment:

  • Reply to comment on my post.
  • Answer Liotes
  • Thanks to the news that I found at home (trending/hot posts).
  • Give an opinion about scenery, food, and economy that's eye catchy at home.

Hi from Listnerds this time.
i tend to comment mostly gratitude for people sharing stuff. I have been going on Hive for a year or so but still feel like I don't know anything (except how to lose money on Splinterlands assets haha sad). Sometimes I can share about my experience with the topic at hand, but if not, I try to be specific about what I find helpful about the post.
So, thanks for starting this thread, it was interesting to think through my own posting behavior!

It's a nice survey about commenting habits, and here on Hive if you are not a habitual commentator then I would say it's tough to survive here. lol maybe

I like to comment on people who are close to me or have some acquaintance in some way, like we did not know each other but now I visit your posts and comment.

Next, I look for the topic of the post if I want to learn something I'll ask them with a comment or add my point of view in the continuous discussion.

Usually, I like post or articles that have high engagement rate such as yours as always, love it. hehe

thanks

I would like to write more comments than what I actually do. As I don't have too much time to be on Hive, I end up making my own posts or reading other people's posts in detriment of writing comments :(

I try to answer all comments on my own posts, but there's that.

When time is limited, it's often the commenting activity that has to be reduced. It's the same for me. But well we only have so many minutes every day :-)

I'll usually comment if I encounter a post which is really interesting that I've read. Most of the time, it'll be on regular people which I follow. I'll almost always comment and reply on anyone who leaves a comment on my posts though. 😊

I think this is the single most important habit as a content creator. When somebody takes the effort to read our post, to think about it and leave a comment, I believe it's the minimum to answer this comment. Thanks for sharing!

I comment everyday and generally, if I read a post and upvote it, I also leave behind a comment. There isn't a reason why I can't write a sentence about what I feel about the topic and I generally leave like 30-40 comments a day but some of those are for giveaways.

It's great to have the master of commenting here leaving a comment! It always blows my mind how I find your comments everywhere. It's a great achievement and you add a lot of value to the hive ecosystem by doing that :-)

I comment on post that I read and get information from. I do comment more frequently on post of those people that upvote comments because earning crypto is a motivator. I generally avoid commenting on post I don't agree with. This is probably an unfounded fear of being the target of downvotes if someone didn't like my comment. I like to comment where I can add value such as strategy in Splinterlands or tips on websites to use.

I think on a blockchain like hive, this is totally legetimate. The upvote tool should also be used to actually reward people who took the time to read our posts and made the effort to leave a comment.

As @mypathtofire says, I have a similar habit. I'm trying to comment on everyone who gives me responses to my posts. And of course, if something is really interesting/fascinating to me. Usually, I also vote when I comment on someone's post.

(Edited)

I always make sure to reply to my posts' or threads comments. Then I'd visit the commentator's posts and read them and leave comments as well. Afterwards, I'd go to my favorite communities, read posts and engage to as many as I can. On most days, I think my minimum comments would be over 20 or even more since I engage in both my main account (ifarmgirl) and this LeoFinance dedicated alt account. I feel something is missing when I don't get active around Hive :)
