Mom found a potent recipe for tackling cornea!

Is it true??

Well according to my mom, if you have been following my post or @philiprenelee's post of our few emergency scare when her eyes flare up blood shot red when light is too strong for her, or any dust particle or eye discharge gently scratched the surface of her eye, said this works within 2 hours.

Because mom sometimes need to rest her eyes more, so I have taken over her recipe to prep it up, during weekends especially or sometimes my work at the office starts late.

So what's the preparation?

It's actually pretty simple. You just need 3 ingredients: carrot, goji berry, water

Totally vegan, totally fresh and healthy.

Step 1: Skin your carrot

20200818_181036_0002.png

Unless you are planting and harvesting your own carrots, most of the carrots found from the supermarkets would somehow been "tampered" for longer lasting during shipment, skinning them is now a common thing. 1 fat carrot is good enough.

(This is an imported carrot from Australia)

Step 2: Wash 2 table spoons of dried goji berries

Most normal supermarkets pre-stocked dried goji berries (wolfberries) may not be treated clean; unless you know the source is very safe and clean dehydrated home grown berries.

These berries usually are imported to Malaysia because there's no farm for these, and it is better to wash a bit before taken straight.

Step 3: Slice carrots thinly for faster blending

I have a magic bullet blender, but sometimes if the chunks are too big the smoothie might be a little too hard and requires chewing later. Mom prefers smoother blend so by slicing it this lessens the time for blending.

Step 4: Add all the ingredients together and add filtered (ready to drink) water

Add in around 2/3 cups of water to it, or at least cover the both ingredients before blending.

Step 5: blend until smooth

It is best to drink immediately right after blending even though you have a high-speed blender to prevent oxidation.

Recommendation for those with weaken cornea, take every alternate days.

My experience?

As for many of my friends (including #teammalaysia family) knows I sometimes do work long hours and constant looking at computer monitors; and last Saturday my eyes were feeling really uncomfortable and a bit sore even though I have properly cleaned and rested; so I took a bit of the remaining smoothie I did for my mom and interestingly, the rest of the day, my eyes felt less strained.

Is it a placebo effect? I am not sure, but I DO know that my mom's blood shot eyes recovered 2 hours after taking this every single time she faces the problem or accidentally suffered from a sunlight glare, and won't have this problem until the next "glare incident" and when she takes it and her eyes recovers, I'm sold.

Let me know if you ever try out this recipe, and do share your experience if you start having this regularly. So far, I am a happy person to see my mom relies less on medicated antibiotics eye drops for eye inflammation whenever she has this.

Until then

That'll be awesome if this recipe helps your Mother in Law @jaynie! Do share her progress if she has started having issues with her eyes. I know my mom is loving this "brew" in the morning (before breakfast)

I can imagine this would be a placebo effect but it doesn't matter. It sounds delicious! Combination of carrots and goji berries sounds very tasty :) Thank you for sharing!

haha, well Goji berry and carrots both have very potent vitamin A, and probably my mom's cornea really needs that since she has this Corneal dystrophies issue. As long as this is helping her plus this is healthy, why not, yes?

Of course! I was more referring to the moment when you tried it :) You mom should try everything possible to make her feel better, I would never doubt that :)

Interesting !

I am not familiar with goji berries.

It doesn't matter if it is a placebo effect if it works... right? The mind is a powerful thing.

GOJI berries are very popular among Asian dishes, particularly for soup. You can find them at China Town area, particularly at Asian herb shops.

Thank you so much for sharing this and good to know it worked for your mom. I think my family and I need this as most of us watch screens a lot especially my father and he is also in the elderly category. He complains of tired eyes sometimes and I tell him that he need to reduce his screen time.
