Comparing to the UK, I mostly remember shopping centres having very little other than the fast food chains but that might have changed

you're right! Grab a maccies and find a seat...I see you weren't impressed with Peasholm park ! It's a bit of a throwback but next time I'm home, I'll go and photograph it and tell you the rather interesting story of how it came about. It is rather 1960s/70s so I can totally understand how you thought it was a little naff :-)
