Here today, Gone tomorrow!
Taking a walk around our neighbourhood is no pretty sight ever since the night of 11/12 April as summarised in my #hiveblopomo - April Showers.
There however still are some pretty sights around!
The big cleanup can be seen everywhere, some just need rebuilding sections, and others having to be demolished altogether and rebuilt from scratch, like our neighbour's cottage.
Here today, gone tomorrow, took on a different meaning!
Would you believe this once was a quaint cottage when you look at all the rubble? I shared the photos taken just after the storm with you last week in Thankful to be Alive.
Cottage being demolished so the big clean-up can begin; there is nothing left that even suggests this once was a cottage!
Walking down the road to see how the clean-up process is proceeding with our friends further down the road. The going is slow here as there was extensive damage that can only now be assessed as the house has been cleared of mud and rubble. This is how it looks after a cleaning crew had been there to do their part of the job!
That section will likely have to be rebuilt.
A makeshift fence had to be installed to stop thievery that was taking place while they have 24-hour guarding services; obviously, it's too costly to have more than one guard on duty at one time!
Prettier sights despite the destruction
We had to get our rates rebate forms stamped and signed by our local tourism organisation, but of course we could not get through to them, so arrived to a locked door, but after a phone call, we were helped speedily!
Trust us to choose the day they were moving office, so we had to wait for someone to sign and stamp our forms!
Their old offices are in the grounds of the Westville Country Club, and it looks like they were left unscathed as everything looked spic and span!
Not a real tree, but nevertheless looks a tad better than just a cell phone tower!
I won't have one of those in my garden though!
Back at home I did not look across the fence where all the destruction took place, simply enjoyed a little piece of our garden.
The beautiful bridal veil's flowers are slowly turning white, soon it will be covered in snow white flowers!
I will share a stunning painting of trees, painted by Peter Wink, my friend @artywink's hubby.
I just love the colours used in this painting, reminds me that even though the branches are stripped of leaves, they will soon be lush and filled with the sound of birds; full of life again!
@tattoodjay was Walking on a trail to... somewhere way nicer than my #wednesdaywalk!
Why not go for a short walk and share your part of the world with us!

sad to see the damage the poor owners of that cottage.
nice to see some beauty still there even after such terrible storms
I have seen a few cell towers disguised as a tree a bit tacky but it does look better than the antennas standing out
