Misty Champagne Valley delights

Getting away from it all was just what the doctor ordered, and being semi-retired, we can do this at our leisure, before the peak season starts in our bnb.
The weather was playing games with us from the time we hit the road.
We experienced rain, mist, strong winds and beautiful sunlight on the trip.

We stopped at an old favourite, The Valley Bakery which is an artisinal bakery on a farm near the resort.
They have a lovely restaurant but I will tell you more about this awesome place in another post.

We had some time to kill as we were meeting our older son and the girlfriend and it was lunchtime!

We both ordered a roasted veg, bacon & feta salad with a light mustardy dressing, absolutely yum!

Excellent cappuccinos always feature in our lunchtime orders unless it's mid-summer when we'll need a thirst-quenching ice-cold drink.

I will tell you more about this wonderful bakery filled with delectable produce next time; they also make the best sourdough bread and pastries, which was our main reason for stopping there!

We were charmed once again when we arrived at our final destination, which I will also share with you soon!

My son's talented girlfriend had a big parcel for me; beautiful handmade painted pottery, something she's recently started doing.

Of course we had bought sourdough bread and pastries; they were starving as they drove without making any stopovers, so a quick platter for them, and pastries for all of us for afternoon tea; my sweet tooth could not resist any of these;)

Lemon Meringue Tartlets as well as crispy Nut Tartlets, both to die for.

This was just a foretaste of better things to come, hope I've whetted your appetite for the awesome homemade goodness of delicious Drakensberg delights; we fell for the temptation as it was raining so we could not go on any hikes.

A sunny day awaits us, the sun has just come up and we look forward to walking off all these delectable delights today!
