Showers of Abundance

I've been dying to start digging in the garden again; have missed the earthy smell of the ground, the gritty feeling on my hands, the sun baking on my back, and getting what we call a 'farmer's suntan' on the back of my neck and my arms!

Not long to wait now, the hernia surgery is healing nicely, but I still have to take it easy.
One of my besties surprised me with a visit, and arms laden with lunch, a very mild spicy Chicken Tikka, and Naan bread, all foods I've been avoiding to keep reflux and IBS under control. I've taken all the remedies I can to combat that, a gal cannot keep on the straight and narrow forever, right?

It had been a gloomy drizzly day, but I wanted to show my dear friend the progress made with our pool makeover, which we started last weekend. I shared a little of that project's beginning with the Weekend Engagement Community last week in Running the Race of Life.

It would have been completed sooner but my gardener only works three days per week and was keen to finish pressure cleaning the roof, paving, and retaining walls which he started before having to help my brother with the pool fencing.

It's been very frustrating for me as there are so many little tasks I could be doing, like repotting and adding new plants to the flower beds, but I have to be patient!
He's a very determined young man, and the pool project will be complete this coming week. The pool water is looking a little sad after pressure cleaning the moldy cladding on the raised side of the pool - the pool walls are on two levels.

The pool water is starting to clear after a 'shock treatment' and vacuuming. Poe is busy inspecting the works!

Talking about Poe, king of the castle, this is how he greeted my visitors, warning them that they were entering his domain!

The palm trees next to the pool are looking healthy and reaching for the blue sky that we had on Wednesday.

Today's gloomy and drizzly weather did not stop the plants from showing off, some of them looked even more beautiful with raindrops shining like little pearls.

The Pink Periwinkles look very pretty covered in raindrops. This image was taken with my friend's iPhone, and the one below with my Huawei that I'm ready to throw out in two months!

A very shy Euphobia also had a nice shower.

I think this squash growing here may be an orange pumpkin; the only danger is that the monkeys may get to them while still very young!

These oval baby Tomatoes are in no danger of being eaten by the monkeys, so I can leave them to ripen naturally on the plant.

Lastly, the fragrant Lavender bush is doing very well, but I need to plant a couple more, as they're ideal for drying out, pushing the dry leaves into muslin bags, and placing them among linen.

That is the end of the little walk around my garden on a gloomy Saturday, brightened by a visit from a special friend, and the natural beauty of my garden.

A few drops of rain and everything is transformed and beauty returns. I can even see that you have improved a lot, you are back in the mood to do things and that's a good sign. But don't hurry, let others do it for you. And you simply observe and give orders so that everything looks nice. Although your garden and pool are nice. Carry nothing, just up to a pound of bread. Which of course is not heavy. Take care of yourself.
Have a nice Sunday.🤗🥰♥️

Hi @mamani, I can see you've sussed me out very well :)

Carry nothing, just up to a pound of bread.

Not so easy, but I am trying to be patient, really don't want to undo all the good!

We usually have torrential rain, so it's nice when it's just light rain as all the plants look like they've had a good shower, and come to life again!

I hope you're enjoying your Sunday!

Here today, Sunday, it is also raining and a light cold front is announced, but it is already being felt. I'm at home and I take the opportunity to interact with friends of Colmena. I forgot to tell you how cute and beautiful your cat is. Greetings

Thank you for the advice @beeber, I was forced to slow down after the surgery and realized that I need not be frantically busy all the time, although it has been a kind of escape from my loss. I will do what you say, and take time out to enjoy my little piece of paradise <3

It looks precious! <3 Glad the healing's coming along nicely.

a gal cannot keep on the straight and narrow forever, right?

Nor should she, when Nan bread is involved. ;)

Poe most definitely in command of territory now that majestic look says it all!

Garden is always work on the go, never a dull moment. Now let me in on your secret how you keep monkeys away from the tomato bush, mine eat everything....

!LUV Take care and good to hear you on the mend.

Poe really thinks he's the king of the castle!
As for the tomatoes, I really can't tell, maybe because they're growing in my herb garden right outside the kitchen door? Poe often prances around there but runs inside when he hears the monkeys.
It really is a problem, when we first moved in, we had beautiful veggies, but they started raiding the garden as more and more houses were being built and their territory started shrinking.
This weather is really weird, a much cooler February than normal!
Enjoy the rest of the week Joan🤗

Nothing lasts long in the garden when monkeys go through, too many breeding with young!

Weather has been a welcome reprieve from the heat, still humid although cloud cover has helped.

Have a wonderful day as well.
