Smiles and Laughter Lightens the Load

Best friends for life; Aunt Lucy makes a very comfy pillow for young Crusoe who's been playing football in the backyard and hopping from one lap to the other when the two-legged aunts and uncles went to visit my brother and sister-in-law. Lucy was the calming factor and Crusoe's eyes could not stay open, but curiosity got the better of him as the ladies were in fits of laughter the whole afternoon! @artywink has the knack for entertaining, as she sees the funny side of real life, I swear she's missed her calling, would make a great stand-up comedian, although the audience would have to be restricted to ladies only :)

Letting our hair down on a weekend away with friends and family; everyone needed a shoulder massage after a week in the real world, so what could be better than a group shoulder massage, although my aunt looks a tad uncomfortable with that head massage!

The one thing that I really missed during lockdowns, was going to live shows like the ones at the Barnyard Theatre with excellent live music and comedy skits in between. Most of the audience are seated at large 10-seater wooden tables, and it always was my job to make sure we filled our table; a great way to get together!

One night, there was a 70-year-old birthday celebration at the table in front of us. The show compere made a huge faux pas when he dedicated the next song to the birthday boy; it was...

Knocking on Heaven's Door

He obviously had forgotten just which song was next; most inappropriate for someone who may indeed be knocking on heaven's door ;) Well, his face and that of the birthday boy was a sight I will never forget; a hush fell over the audience, but he did his best to make light of it at the end of the song.
We all had such a chuckle afterward!

How they survived the lockdown, I have no idea, but they have opened up again so I think it's high time we booked for a night out.

This 'drag' number had the whole audience in hysterics, as these were very manly guys dressed as gals; the blond is a real gal though :)

My oldest son swears that he still remembers how he enjoyed jumping in his jolly jumper; his whole face lit up with the biggest smile ever!

It's a very old photo so please excuse the poor quality, but that smile is priceless!

Who said the silver-haired could not put on a show?
I attended this special Christmas show held at a retirement centre a good couple of years ago; they have more nerve than me! I could never do this on stage in front of an audience, but fun they had, for sure!

Comrades Marathon
Another event that is quite a spectacle is the annual Comrades Marathon which is 87 kilometres long; runners travel from all over the world, some take it seriously, while others who have qualified, do it for fun and to have achieved completing this world-renowned oldest and largest ultra-marathon within the 12 hours given time.
Outfits vary from sporty to fun.

Mom Lily having fun on a quadbike with her youngest brother, and putting big smiles on the faces of my two nephews and our friend and neighbour.

...last but not least, the ones closest to my heart, my very own family who make my heart sing when we're all together. Even though Mom left to go to her forever home, we will always remember the fun and laughter we've all shared over the years!
I hope some of these put a smile on your face!

Aw... you're so sweet ❤️

Glad you're okay and yes tech sucks when it doesn't do what it's supposed to.

No sweat!

I won't get lost in the transition.

Love to you!

These are beautiful and fun memories you've had with your family. Thanks to technology, we are able to "freeze" moments as such through photographs and relive them even after years have passed. These definitely made me smile and now wanting to go for a throwback too via my gallery archives hehe.
