The Coronation's in Sight

Shell-shocked is an understatement!

There I sat on the throne dentist's chair, like a lamb to the slaughter, again!

A gallant attempt to save what's left of The Tooth!

I shared my experience down The Neverending Canal in yesterday's blog.

The saga continues!

Today's treatment was even more painstaking than digging to the nether depths of the Suez root canal.

Today, after nearly two hours of drilling, screwing (yep, the screw is in place), impressions, and filling, to protect the screw, and my mouth, of course, I've come to realize yet again, that my dentist is a master of precision!

How something seemingly insignificant as a little tooth can justify hours of work, would have been beyond me when I was the younger version of myself.

However, when one has been around for just about seven decades, every tooth is worth more than all the gold and diamonds in the world, as

we're only given two sets.
Milk teeth

Why?
The answer of course is to keep space for our permanent teeth.
Teeth cannot grow bigger and bigger, can they???
We'd need 64 of those little teeth to fill our mouths, not just 32 ;);)

Why, oh why, can't we have a third set?

Nope, we're only given two chances - the first set paves the way, and the second set is called permanent, don't ever forget that!
It needs to be nurtured as it really is worth way more than all the jewelry in our treasure chests.

Too late for tears, having a sweet tooth has been the root of all evil, as far as my dental health goes.
This preparation for the final fitting of The Crown has made me think of another kind of crowning that takes a huge amount of planning, preparation, and last-minute adjustments as well as family dramas, that go on behind the scenes before the final day of the Coronation of all Kings and Queens, when the Crown will finally rest on that tooth stub Royal head!

Gosh I never knew that, had to Google it as you made me curious to find out more😉 Fascinating just how many times they do that, why can't we shed our teeth and get new ones😁 I also want a neverending supply of new teeth😅

Why, oh why, can't we have a third set?
I ask myself that every time I go to the dentist. It would be so great if we still had a natural replacement series......

It's not fair hey! @thebighigg shared a fascinating fact, we need to be like sharks and grow new ones🙈😁😁😁

Was wishing for the same thing, that we have more sets but then again, that's how it's been programmed. This just reminded me of the dental job needed to be done but I keep postponing. Like you, blaming my sweet tooth, lol!

It's something we tend to put off but I always feel so much better afterwards, we should in fact make it a priority not so.
So you understand the perils of having a sweet tooth then😉
Make that call today @ifarmgirl 😅

We are stubborn haha! 😅

While you had crowns on, I wanted mine to be removed and have the little white teeth under them extracted and replaced. Had an appointment with the dentist sometime ago but she challenged me to think it over🤣

Shoo, that will be a hectic procedure! Is it giving you trouble @ifarmgirl?
I have 2 others that's been in for many years. I've heard how some people's crowns pop out, but the way my dentist works, I think (hope) this crown will outlive me🙈😅

That's true. My previous dentist refused to do it saying the procedure may break some of her tools, lol! And it will take hours or even a few days to complete hehe. Had these porcelain crowns (4 of them) many ages ago and they are still great, none of them had any breakage or chipping of sort, but they are wearing down my natural teeth opposite to them.😅

Glad your dentist's work is trusted and I believe too, that your crowns will last long :)

Very funny!!!

I'm sorry your teeth have been such a problem lately. Lots of medical procedures are downright sadistic, but trips to the dentist are the WORST. I hope you can take a break now.

We do have a third set - our wisdom teeth. Too bad dentists convince many of us to remove them.

I forgot about wisdom teeth, but maybe it's because I've never had any!
You made me Google that & you are right about the benefits of having them if they don't cause any problems!
It's all about saving one tooth, been quite an ordeal because there's not much left of that tooth, but at least my dentist took his time to do a proper job; a friend has to go for root canal treatment where she already has a crown, so it sounds like hers wasn't done correctly & it will now be a bigger job!
As for the coronation, I was reminded of King Charles and all the dramas going on behind that Crown's closed doors :):)

The pain aint any fun and ditto on a good set of untitled.gif

You and @farm-mom have much in common, love of family, top notch chefs, faithful, kind, personable, a zest for life and a beauty which is only found in the souls of a few.

and now you guys have something else in common.

That was hilarious, but I hate going to the dentist.
I know exactly where you are coming from sweet tooth, my downfall also.
Funny thing I have an appointment with my torturer tomorrow to fit me for a new tooth. I had all the prep work done over months. Can’t wait until the deed is done.

Nice post, thanks for the
chuckles.

Oh dear, so you know all about it and have been through the worst? I hope the final crowning went well?
And wasn't as hectic as the prep work?
Haha we need to have a good laugh at ourselves not so😁
Have a lovely Friday my friend 😊

LOL!!! You made me laugh with this, but one thing is absolutely true and that is that every one of those teeth from that second round is worth gold, hehe. And what can I say, I also have a sweet tooth;)

Oh dear, you're just like me then, and understand the dilemmas of having a sweet tooth Eli 🍭 Who can say no when they dangle sweet treats in front of us😅 Those choccies and cakes shout at me all the time if I don't eat them, so now I must suffer for my sins🙈
Nice having a chuckle about those kind of dramas not so😉
Have a great Friday Eli xxx

I've had one crown 👑 and pray 🙏 I never need another one. My sister texted today to let me know that she needs a crown 👑 to the tune of $1500! My dental coverage must be much better because my share was $500.
I love your humorous style of delivery.

Glad you enjoyed reading it @wandrnrose7😉
I can see why the procedure is so costly, it's painstaking work (for both parties not so)
Shoo, that's a load of money to fork out! Fortunately my medical aid has good dental cover, unlike some others that lump dental & optical work in with the day-to-day benefits.
Have a great Friday🤗
