MY FIRST ITALIAN MOVIE •//• Movie Review.

I spend most of my leisure time watching movies and I love to explore movies from different countries and different genres of movie. I have watched Indian, Spanish, Nigerian, Ghanaian, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, American, South African, African American, Korean, French, and Philippines movies... but never have I ever watched an Italian movie.

When I saw the movie (My Name is Vendetta) I was so intrigued to watch it, to have a taste of an Italy movie. The title of the movie was what caught my attention at first, like what is vendetta? And what can you do vendetta? I checked out the meaning of vendetta, and it was not a person's name but it means a prolonged series of revenge. well, I never knew

My Name is Vendetta is an action movie based on vengeance and an Italian movie, it was directed by Cosimo Gomez, it is ‘A Netflix movie and in conjunction with ‘The Colorado Film production company. it was released on 30 November 2022. The language spoken was Italian, one thing I love about the movie is their language, at least I can say ciao and Grazie which means either bye or hi and thank you respectfully

The movie starred Ginevra Francesconi as Sofia Romeo, starred Alessandro Gassman as Santo Romeo, starred Sinja Dieks as Ingrid Gruber, starred Remo Girone as Don Angelo, starred Alessio Praticò as Michelle and Luca Zamperoni as Patrick Gruber.

The movie begins with Sofia a hockey player and her family; her dad (Santo Romeo) and her mum (Ingrid Gruber) who were living a normal life. Her dad is a woodcutter and he works with his brother-in-law Patrick Gruber but things turn around when Sofia posts a picture of her dad on her Instagram account.

After the picture was posted, her dad’s past begins to unravel. Two men come into their house to kill Santo but instead, they found his wife; Ingrid, and his brother-in-law who were killed immediately, Sofia managed to escape. Santo returning to see his family killed knew that there is no time to relax, he takes his daughter and ran.

Without prior knowledge of her dad’s former life, her father was from a mafia family and in this is no escape. Sofia was so mad and she blamed him for killing her mom. It was very hard and confusing for Sofia to take in all of that including the fact that her father’s real name is not Santo but Domenico Franzé.

Santo's enemies (Angelo and his men) are on the chase while Santo and his daughter are on the run. After a long run and struggles, Santo decides to end it once and for all even if it takes his life. Santo manages to kidnap Angelo's son; Michelle and lets Sofia look after him, while he is gone to end things.

After Santo took down Angelo he was gun-downed by the police. On the other hand, Michelle was set free by the police and Sofia was taken to some sort of prison. Michelle comes to her saying he is willing to help and they don’t have to be like their fathers but it was all a lie. Sofia knows better, she knows the law, her father had told her that the law is “to kill or to be killed”. She takes down unaware Michelle with a pocket knife.

*My Name is Vendetta is a movie that brought out true action, I love how fast they are to attack and not wait until the victim escapes. The movie demonstrates a nice revenge thriller movie but with less suspense. I feel like the storyline needs a touch like letting the viewers know a little about what happened in the past and the movie should have a little bit of spice and fun in it.

The actors deliver a nice performance, everyone matches their character, and Santo and Sofia's relationship was nicely built I don’t just see them as father and daughter but as partners. I must say that Ginevra Francesconi played the role of Sofia quite well making her my favorite character.

I will gladly rate the movie a 6.5/10 and I will recommend it to anyone who is into action movies but not so well to people who are not into action movies. my name is Vendetta has brought out a story of vengeance filled with emotions and regret.
