If I Were a Billionaire

Yesterday, I was contemplating what life would be like if I were a billionaire. When I was young, I truly desired wealth because there were many things I wanted to buy for myself.

A beautiful house, a nice car, branded clothes, and all sorts of things money could buy.

That was before, when I was still young.

Why did I start pondering this? I suppose I simply happened to watch some YouTube shorts featuring billionaires discussing their lives.

They have yachts, private jets, expensive watches, several mansions, and all sorts of things only billionaires can afford.

Then I considered, if I were a billionaire, with the age and mentality I have now, I think I would approach things differently.

The first step I would take is to establish reputable businesses, such as franchises like gas stations, fast food outlets, and others with a high potential for generating income.

For the businesses I establish, I would only draw a salary as the CEO and a small percentage to finance new ventures, that will also help the poor.

The remainder of the business earnings, after covering overhead, utilities, and other business expenses, I would allocate to fund my projects for schools and hospitals for the poor, likely already constructed with some of my own funds.

The profits from my businesses would be utilized to compensate the workers in the schools and hospitals I establish, and naturally, to enhance their facilities.

As a billionaire, there would likely be other billionaires in my circle, so I would seek their assistance in further enhancing my projects.

Why schools and hospitals?

In today's era, it's difficult for some to afford education, but if everything, including food, were free, not only would they save money, they would also be motivated to attend and graduate.

How can the next generation be the future of the world if only a few can afford education and the quality of education is low?

Similarly, hospitals are known to be expensive expenses that the poor fear. Simply investing in medical equipment like X-rays, CT scans, and other medical equipments would be immensely helpful to them because they wouldn't have to worry about expenses for their health.

The last project I considered was housing, condominium-type housing for the poor, not entirely free because they would need to pay for their utilities.

Perhaps I would charge a very nominal rent just to maintain the building.

I don't want people to become dependent to me, so I want to give them a small responsibility. So small that they can afford to save for other things they need in life.

And then I woke up from my daydream. Haha!

I'm far from being a billionaire, and the primary reason is because I haven't aspired for wealth in a long time, ever since I accepted that I simply want a relaxed life.

Not because I think I have no chance of becoming rich, but because I know that with a lot of money comes a lot of work, and with a lot of work comes a lot of stress.

Moreover, to earn a substantial amount of money, one would have to be overly occupied with various tasks, which is something I don't desire.

I'm content being free to do as I please, without fretting over difficult matters. I'm content with having a roof over my head, simple clothes, and food on the table every day, and, most importantly, having time to spend with the people I love.

For me, wealth is reserved for the diligent.

What about you? what will you do if you were a billionaire?

Fantasizing life as a billionaire is fine. Just don't imagine yourself dressing up like a bat and going out at night to take justice into your own hands because you have dead parents issues.
