5 Minute Freewrite: Standing in Silence

Daniel couldn't control his anger. He did some anger management classes due to the insistence of his wife Annabelle. He beat his wife occasionally, but his wife Annabelle refused to get a divorce. It was either because she was afraid of him or she loved him too much. She thought he will get better.

Daniel got worse with each passing day. He stopped going to anger management classes, and Annabelle was upset. What if something bad happens to her, she thought to herself. She talked to his best friend Emily about this issue, and Emily told her she should leave him immediately!

Annabelle came back home and started packing her stuff in a suitcase to leave the house and move to her mother's house. She no longer was afraid of Daniel. Daniel came home early from work, and he saw what is going on. He got angry, but this time Annabelle didn't allow him to beat her. She pepper sprayed him, and he fell on the ground crying from pain.

Annabelle ran towards the door and shouted for help, but there was no one around. She wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. When she got to the front door, she saw that the Daniel has locked the door. He usually did that.

She got a knife from the kitchen and when Daniel came to the main hall, she stabbed him. He fell to the ground and Annabelle stood silently, she couldn't move. She was shaking out of fear. She couldn't believe she stabbed Daniel.

Their next door neighbor who was a noisy person heard their cries and saw from the window what happened. So, she called the police and they came fast enough. Daniel wasn't dead, but he was injured badly. The ambulance came and Annabelle told the police it was self-defense and all her story. Annabelle got to her mother's house safe and sound and got a restraining order against Daniel. They got divorce finally and Annabelle started dating again to find a suitable mate for herself.
