Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Battle Challenge! (Fire & Regret)

image.png

I love the idea that the Weekly Battle Challenge changed instead of featuring a monster to represent a ruleset. It is so good to do something different than usual and I hope they will continually do this in the future. The best way would be to mix these challenges, so every week would be more interesting.

This week we need to show a ruleset, which is the Fire and Regret and the way I used it to my (dis)advantage in the Battle I played. 😇

My only problem with this new system is that it is very difficult to do battles with the specific ruleset featured for the week challenge, because it is random what you are going to get and even if you have that ruleset you need to win it somehow, which is not always easy. 😏

All units receive the Return Fire ability at the start of the battle. Enemy units that attack with ranged attacks receive damage back.

Damage returned is equal to damage of the attacker divided by 2, rounded up. Ranged attack units with the Reflection Shield ability do not take damage from reflected magic attacks. The Amplify ability increases damage.

The Fire and Regret ruleset is an interesting one, because it means that it is very dangerous to use Ranged attack monsters as they will kill themselves pretty easy against the reflect damage. The easiest way to counter this to not use any of them, but you can also use them to your advantage if you use a Ranged attack monster who "has" to die like the ones with the Martyr ability. 😁

RulesetDescription
Lost MagicMonsters with Magic attack may not be used in battles.
Fire & RegretAll units receive the Return Fire ability at the start of the battle. Enemy units that attack with ranged attacks receive damage back.

The mana cap is 46, which is quite a lot and all the Splinters are available to play. I will try to pick up one of my favorite combo, which is Possibilus from the Water Splinter and use mostly Melee attack monsters.

The Lost Magic ruleset will simplify my choice more easily, because all the Magic attack monsters will be banned, so really only the Melee attack monsters left on the table. 🤗

My lineup and the decision behind it!

Summoner
Possibilus the Wise

image.png

Possibilus the Wise is a six mana cost summoner who provides three abilities to his monsters. The first is to give +2 Health, Reach ability and the Trample. So basically what this means is that all of my monsters will be able to attack from the second position and if any of my Melee attack monsters kill an enemy monster they will get an extra attack on the next monsters of their target. 😌

Main Tank
Diemonshark
image.png

The Diemonshark is an excellent tank and cost 8 mana, but he has a huge amount of Speed and Melee attack, which will be further boosted if he takes any damage from his Health thanks to his Enrage ability. 😊

Main Damage Dealer

Coastal Sentry
image.png

The Coastal Sentry is quite expensive, because she cost 10 mana, but she has 4 Melee attack damage, which wouldn't be so high on its own, but she also has the Double Strike ability, which means that she will be able to attack twice in every round and if she utilizes her Piercing ability she will be able to damage through Armors as well. 😇

The Opportunist
Deeplurker
image.png

The Deeplurker is an amazing monster especially on higher levels, because he has high damage and the Demoralise ability, which is perfect for this battle to reduce the Melee attack of all the enemy monsters as long as he is alive.

His main ability is the Opportunity, which means that he will attack the lowest Health monster. 😁

Stunner
Igor Darkspear
image.png

I used a Ranged attack monster despite he will damage himself with every attack, but his Stun ability was too important for me, because if he manages to trigger it he might decide the battle single handedly. His mana cost is also bearable, because he cost only 2 mana, so he is an easy fit. 😋

Backline Healer
Angelic Mandarin
image.png

The Angelic Mandarin is another Ranged attack monster and he will suffer fro mthe reflect damage as well, but at least he has the Triage ability, so he will heal one monster from my backline in every round. 😅

The Decoy
Coerl Lurker
image.png

The Coerl Lurker is the key monster in this battle, because he has all the dodge mechanics from this game with decent Speed, so if he manages to dodge the incoming attacks it might help a lot to win the battle. He also has the Taunt ability to make sure all the enemy monsters will target him if they are not in the first and second position with Reach ability. 😎

My opponent brought Kelya Frendul, so he wanted to take advantage of his Speed and Armor buff, which generally is an amazing choice, but we will see if that would be enough against my brute force damage.

He also brought a full Melee attack team and he even used a Disintegrator to reduce the Melee attack damage on my monsters by one.

I used the Coerl Lurker at the back of my backline to try to direct some of the attacks from the enemy team to him instead of my Diemonshark to give him time to damage his enemies. 🤞

The tank of my opponent was rock solid, because he had the Shield ability, which halves all the incoming Melee attack damage and he also able to Repair his own Armor once in every round.

Luckily my opponent didn't bring any heal, so the Repair were not enough to keep him alive and finally by the end of the fourth round my team managed to kill him from the first position. 💪

In the fifth round he lost his off tank as well and my Diemonshark sacrificed himself to kill another monster from the enemy team in the next round.

My Deeplurker was quick enough to hit and kill their Bandit and he received a free attack against his Disintegrator who became the last monster who is able to deal damage from the enemy team.

Even thought I brought two Ranged attack monster they managed to survive the battle and my team conquered my opponent with ease. 🤗
