Heated Thoughts

Can't take the heat.

Today is the last day of this year's Summer, and God I love that. I did have a great time this summer, but the heat has been unbearable and as someone with really low heat tolerance, it's no exaggeration to say that this is by far the worst season of the year as far as I'm concerned. Living in a Mediterranean country comes with great benefits, such as beautiful beaches and islands and wonderful food, but the heat and humidity we have to withstand every year during the summer months is a true nightmare.

You may think that we at least get mild winters, but that's not the case. The atmospheric temperature fluctuates a lot between the winter and summer months, making it very hard to adapt.

This was one of the hottest summers on record where I live, and certainly the hottest summer of the last 30 years. We experienced temperatures of 49 degrees Celsius in some places for a couple of days, and the heatwave hasn't allowed us to take even a small break for 10 weeks in a row now. It's late August and I'm back in the office now, and it still feels like I'm entering the oven when I get inside my car after work. This kind of weather drains me out and makes everything so much more difficult. I mean don't get me wrong, it's great if you're here on vacation, but having to go about our normal working lives with the Sun trying to roast us twenty-four-seven isn't exactly the best thing in the world.

Not a morning person.

Another thing I do not really like about the summertime is the longer periods of daylight. The orientation of Earth's axis during summer results in shorter periods of darkness, and as a night owl I do not appreciate that. I have always felt much more energized during the night time, and this has nothing to do with my sleep routine. I wake up at 8 am every day, yet find it hard to go to bed before 3 am. That's just the way I am. I can go for an entire week with 4 - 5 hours of sleep a day or even less, but when the weekend arrives, I crash and get 20 hours of sleep in just two days. That's not very good for my physical health, but I seriously can't seem to get around this problem. I'm still young though, so I'm enjoying every bit of it. I guess there's plenty of time for me to try to fix this in the years to come.

Working a full-time job, running my blogging and crypto-hustling routine in general, and getting intense workout sessions on a daily basis still won't do the trick for me. I just can't go to bed early. I've been living like this for more than ten years now, so it's really hard for me to reprogram my brain. I'm much more productive and creative at night, and I tend to go about consuming content, reading books and feeding my curiosity by browsing the web and getting caught up in an endless loop of searching and finding. I love how the city I live in is rather quiet and peaceful in the midnight, enjoying the silence from my balcony and staring at the moon and stars during my short smoke breaks.

Anyway, another season starts tomorrow, and I'm hoping for lower temperatures to come our way sooner rather than later. Enjoy yourselves and I'll see you around.

I appreciate your attention.

Stay safe and have a good one,
@lordneroo

Trust me I can't survive heat stress when it strucks.
That burning sensation, and having an irritating sweat all over your body, that hot feeling, uhmmm, it's really a No! No!

Anyways welcome to a new season!
