To start, I made a rough sketch to capture the pose and proportions of the character. I focused on getting the posture right — that powerful, grounded stance was essential to convey the strength and quirky charm the original cat radiated. I tried to exaggerate the beard slightly even in the sketch phase to ensure it became a focal point later on.

Me concentré en plasmar correctamente la postura — esa presencia firme y poderosa era esencial para transmitir la fuerza y el encanto peculiar que irradiaba el gato original. Intenté exagerar ligeramente la barba desde esta fase para asegurarme de que se convirtiera en un punto focal más adelante.

After refining the sketch, I moved on to the lineart. I kept the lines clean yet dynamic, using thicker strokes to emphasize the major contours like the beard and fur, and finer lines for the facial details. I wanted the lines to breathe and have a playful rhythm, true to an anime aesthetic.

When it was time to color, I chose a warm palette dominated by earth tones. I applied soft base colors first, carefully blending the different shades of brown and highlighting the white beard to make it stand out dramatically. My goal was to keep the color scheme vibrant yet natural, respecting the original essence of the animal.

Al llegar al coloreado, elegí una paleta cálida dominada por tonos tierra. Apliqué primero colores base suaves, mezclando cuidadosamente las diferentes tonalidades de marrón y resaltando la barba blanca para que se destacara de manera impactante. Mi objetivo era mantener una combinación de colores vibrante pero natural, respetando la esencia original del animal.

Next came the shading stage. I applied soft, diffused shadows to give volume to the body, fur, and beard. I used cool purples and blues in the shadows to balance the warmth of the base tones and create an appealing depth. I especially enjoyed sculpting the textures of the fur through strategic shading.

Luego llegó la etapa de las sombras. Apliqué sombras suaves y difusas para darle volumen al cuerpo, el pelaje y la barba. Usé tonos fríos como púrpuras y azules en las sombras para equilibrar la calidez de los colores base y crear una profundidad atractiva. Disfruté especialmente esculpiendo la textura del pelaje mediante un sombreado estratégico.

Afterward, I added highlights, focusing on the beard and eyes to bring a touch of magic and life to the character. Tiny touches of light gave the impression that the fur was catching sunlight, and the eyes sparkled with a mischievous glint. These details really made the illustration come alive!
