Dcity Helper #12: Making a 100 Hive starter city for @theycallmedan with 284% APR.

avatar
(Edited)

My previous 100 Hive starter city post was a great success.

I got more comments on it than i had on any other Dcity Helper post and several new players decided to try out Dcity because of it. A special shout out is in order for @vcelier who made his own Ad Agency city and obviously got a dose of the Dcity virus since, as he has bought a lot of new cards since i checked his city yesterday.

Bienvenue to Dcity Mr. former French navy officer.

Today i will make a 100 Hive starter city for @theycallmedan.

This is what Dan's city looks like now.

image.png

If you wonder why he has a city with 1 luxury home, 1 public restroom and 2 homeless, well yours truly has been trying Dcity plugging for quite some time now and some time ago, i sent a lux home and a public restroom to several Hivers in an attempt to interest them for the game.

Obviously in Dan's case it didn't have the desired effect, so it's time to roll out the big guns.

As usual we will try to maximize SIM income for starter cities and as the Ad Agency price jumped after my last post, we'll try something different this time. Also, @ecoinstant rightly pointed out to me that luxury homes are a better choice for population than apartments for maximizing SIM, so we'll take his advice on it for Dan's starter city as well.

First let's check today's market prices for income buildings:

Ad Agency: 5.33 Hive for 9 SIM income, or 0.592 Hive per SIM
Restaurant: 5.44 Hive for 10 SIM income, or 0.544 Hive per SIM
Gym: 2.76 Hive for 5 SIM income, or 0.552 Hive per SIM
Shopping Mall: 8.2 Hive for 15 SIM income, or 0.546 Hive per SIM
Stadium: 7.96 Hive for 15 SIM income, or 0.531 Hive per SIM
Forest: 2.11 Hive for 4 SIM income, or 0.527 Hive per SIM

It seems today there are two candidates which are: Stadiums and Forests.

Stadiums have the added benefit that they generate Entry tokens, which can be used to enter Dcity tournaments on Splinterlands or can be sold as a bonus income on HE. The reason i will pick forests for Dan's city, is that stadiums require more workers, which means we would have to add more population buildings.

So lets buy 36 forests at 2.11 for 75.96 Hive.
And lets take Eco's advice and buy 18 luxury homes at 1.35 for 24.3 Hive.

This puts us just over the 100 Hive and leaves with a small unemployment, but not to worry. Dan has 2 homeless and when we simulate selling those on the market, the unemployment disappears and the total amount invested comes to 99.7 Hive.

This is what Dan's city looks like now:

image.png

SIM income increased from 3 to 158, an increase of 155 SIM.
This comes down to 0.775 Hive per day or 282.82 Hive per year.

A whopping 284% APR.

If the tax levels had not been changed, due to Dcity president @d-pend turning on war tax yesterday and bumping taxes to 15.1%, this setup would have beaten the setup in my Dcity Helper post #11, which had an insane APR of 301%.

I guess @ecoinstant had a good point in using luxury homes instead of apartments for these starter cities.

This starter city example is another example that you don't need deep pockets in order to create a profitable city. And all the fun you'll have playing the game is not even included in the APR.

I'd like to thank @onealfa , @rollandthomas , @thegoliath , @ecoinstant , @jrcornel , @trumpman and everybody else who supported my earlier Dcity Helper posts and i hope you'll keep doing so now i started the series up again. Your votes matter and help me give away more cards on each new Dcity Helper post!

If you are new to Dcity and you'd like a little help getting started; Feel free to look me up in the Dcity discord.

Thanks. I am pleased to see it is working. The last post actually got some new players in and had a lot of interaction.

So i guess this formula works. :-)

These are exciting posts you are writing. Inviting big whales to play the game and advertising the game to new players. Hope dCity has the option to login using google or twitter like brewing game. May be that would help onboarding new users.

Login with Google or facebook would be brilliant.

It's probably complicated because the new player needs a Hive account, but easier onboarding is absolutely the way to go imho.

I don't know all the technical details but dCity developers could contact with Leofinance in getting info on how they used backend Hive account creation for users who signed up using Metamask. It's the same process. Hope they are listening :P

Maybe 3rd edition will feature more buildings that could benefit this city.

Wellness Center? Golf course? Country club?

This is great, I have had friends ask how much it costs to get started and I could never give them a straight answer but this is perfect. 100 HIVE gets you in the game and making income.

Yep, with 100 Hive you make enough SIM to buy a new card every 5 or 6 days. So you'll actually can start to slowly grow your city from that amount.

Welcome to lake Tahoe, with it's luxury homes and green forests with a bonus of very nice return. :)

You inspired me to send the lake background as well.
It will give the proper atmosphere for sure.

Too bad Dcity doesn't automatically set a background, so @theycallmedan will have to set it himself: Go to dashboard Dan, select backgrounds and set the lake background.

Cool! All pimped out.

As a fact, @gerber, we need a background with a spraying wale for @roelandp, maybe adding one in Atlantis :)

I'm loving this new series and still think visiting celebrities to add some income and popularity to the game. Down the line I could see elements like: corruption, bribery and even cities banding together into states or even entire nations. For a price, of course! :)

Yeah it would be cool to introduce the shadier part of city life at some point. Organized crime, corruption, the possibility to assassinate a president, etc.

Maybe with edition 4 or 5?

Dude you're a marketing genius for @dcitygame, I really appreciate you moving the game forward by reaching out to other Hivers that haven't started playing yet :-) So cool you set up a city for @theycallmedan with max efficiency in mind! Those ROIs are insane!

Thanks a lot Mr. President. :-)

I'm cooking up another marketing effort in RL, which i think can be really good for Hive games and Hive itself. I'll let you know all about it when things start to come together on that one.

Interesting... after your last post I brought some add agency and increase the sim earnings and from todays post the luxury home and forest seams a good option to buy..
Last week I was surprice to see the economic crisis in my dcity....

Those new events add a dash of uncertainty to your city. I could see a "Junket" card where you get a chance at winning big at the casinos.

I actually started DCity today, before reading your post, and spent a similar amount of Hive on it. I got up to 100 SIM/day with mostly Gyms and Luxury Homes which I bought from the market. I guess your strategy is a bit more efficient here ;).

Gyms are not the most SIM efficient buildings out there, but they do offer protection against crime, which may come in handy if your city starts to grow.

I just started playing this game yesterday. Still a lot for me to learn.
Questions that I have if you don't mind.
How did you get forest?

I've only seen some real basic stuff on the market so I guess it all comes down to luck on the buying of new cards?
What would you recommend for someone just starting out.

@bitcoinflood There are forests available on the market. Like 79 atm.
It seems they buildings i promote in my posts increase in value quick after publishing. ;-)

Forests are at 2.49 swap.hive now.

What i'd recommend depends on your budget and which strategy you'd like to follow. Look me up in the Dcity discord if you need some pointers.

Wow. This sounds like a pretty cool game with great returns. I've never played Sim City or anything like that, but I don't imagine that game returned on its users' investments.

No Sim city was created so the creators, not the player could strike it rich.
This whole play to earn revolution is just getting started and some games are better than others. For me Dcity is one of the most interesting games out there.

You are a genius! Great post and very helpful! You should be the Head Department of Marketing and onboarding of Dcity 😊 Also when running for Dcity president? 😉
