A Sudden Catch - PhotoFeed Contest Macro Photography 172
Each time I see butterflies flitting around, I wish I could capture them with my hands again. Back then, as kids, we'd catch the butterflies, tie a thread around the abdomen, hold them mid air as they fly, pull back, and watch them struggle. Cruel, but we didn’t know better. We only wanted to have fun.
A few days ago, the universe granted my wish. I was on a walk along the lawn... and as usual, the butterflies were everywhere, flitting from bloom to bloom. Then, this one came circling round me. I stretched out my hands, and boom, it landed right between my 3rd and 4th fingers. "Good gracious", I shouted, surprised and shocked at the same time. Honestly, I wasn't expecting that catch. In fact, I almost let it go due to the speed at which it landed on my palm, but I quickly kept my cool.
Then I began to admire the beauty in my hands.
I pulled out my phone, did a check and found out that it's called Acraea zetes butterfly or the Large Spotted Acraea. Then, I took a few macro shots, capturing the tiny details - the wing scales; stunning color combo of pink, black, white and orange, the delicate abdomen, antenna, the legs, and more.

That's the whole essence of the catch. 😂
Then, I released it, happy to have finally relived the childhood memory of capturing a butterfly with my hand.
And that's a wrap.
Did you capture butterflies while growing up? Have you captured any now as an adult?
I'd love to read your comments.
