I stepped out of my compound sometime in the week to get groceries. Directly opposite 4he stores I was to purchase the stuff, there were three kids playing. I did not notice them at first. I only heard a voice say, "I'm cooking fried rice and chicken.." and that made me turn in their direction. I stared at them for a while noticing how one gave the commands to wash the plates, chop onions, get salt, fry the chicken.., while the other two others scampered at her command. It opened the flood gates of memories and had me smiling wide.

TYRES
There's always old scrap tyres of different sizes. The Lamborghini of our time. I remember we all owned one. I had two then.

My brother told his friends that he'll ride the tyre to London with our mother holding his shirt behind him.
I remember one time my mum sent me to go get pain killers. She warned me to not touch my 'car', but being a big boy, I disobeyed. After the long ride from the house to the pharmacy, I realized I had forgotten the name of the drug. I will tell you some other time houw she almost lashed me to glory

COOKING
Ha! Instagram chefs had nothing on us. Too many fancy utensils were not needed. Just bring empty Tina and we're good to go. Local, continental, intercontinental, ...just place your order.

HOME RUN
In plain term, Daddy and Mummy play. Then, we'll divide ourselves into mother, father, kids, helps, etc and try to act a home. Stop smiling! I know it's from this game that you got spoilt.

FAN
Sweet game! Very sweet until while running, you hit your leg on stone. Then, we made fans of papers and used a broom stick as the handle. It rotates while you walk and turns even faster while running. If adults were looking for kids to run errands for them, they chose the one bearing fans because they went with the speed of light.

FOOTBALL
Normal levels! Even more fun when playing in the rain. Once we(they) start, there's no stopping, maybe until one player mistakenly hits/kicks another leading to a fight or until am adult seizes the ball or most frequently, until one player kicks the ball and it hits and breaks that our always-grumpy- and -quarrelsome neighbor's bucket. Once it gets to this last 'until', then just know it's war-time!.

WATER WARS
Things got even more intense when we got ourselves water guns. We all turned soldiers and began fighting wars. It was one one the most fun moments of our lives but the aftermath of those wars we fought with our water guns was really calamitous. Like real wars, there was always ruins. It was either we messed up the house or some clothes hung on the line outside or we spilled water on some important documents. There was always something damaged and the funniest part of it was that we never realized how much havoc we had wreaked until after we were done playing, then we would start thinking of how to fix things or how to apologise to our parents. Most times after we had ruined things , we would start cleaning and tidying up the house. We would try to do things that would make our parents really happy that day so when they finally learn about the damage we had done previously, their anger would be a bit assuaged. Those moments were legendary. They're really hard to forget.

HIDE AND SEEK
This was one of my favorite our favorite games, I was so good at hiding and was never a seeker, remember one event when one of us hid inside and old refrigerator and the refrigerator door got stuck and refused to open, we searched everywhere for him but couldn't find him, we declared him the winner hoping he'd come out from his hiding and have us crown him the champion but he didn't show up. Minutes later we heard sounds coming from the direction of the refrigerator, we traced the sounds to the refrigerator, we managed to open it and found our champion drenched in his own tears and sweat. He managed to say " I am the champion" but with a teary eyes. We didn't care about that anymore, everyone just burst out laughing. Teary Champion.

It's always good to have this community where we can come and find the doors open to smile for a while. You have brought a sweet, innocent smile to my face after a day of several unforeseen events. I love to take refuge in this place and I find this nice job, which made me travel to the nicest past I've ever had...That time of childhood, I remember picking up trash and having my own bodega. Ha,ha,ha,ha that hide and seek is a serious thing, especially when they call you and you can't answer and then they wait for you behind the door and you get the golden prize for not paying attention to the call @luckydrums

The guy that got locked in the refrigerator... imagining if the refrigerator was powered at that time 🤔. Mortuary 🤣.

I had fun with all of these games. Football used to be craziest because we play till till any of these stuffs mentioned occurs.
