PARENTS ARE GOOD TRICKSTERS ; Some lies our parents told us when we were kids

Isn't it funny how parents are always perfect in their stories ? they never go wrong and always paint themselves as heroes.

Have you realized that many of the stories parents tell about themselves are false and most times very unrealistic?. Just like myself, I'm sure you all believed everything your parents said when you were younger. There stories were always so beautiful and convincing. It made them seem like super humans, they were always heroes and most times they made it seem like they were flawless.

I have come to realize that most of those fabricated stories were to make us happy and see them in a good light. They're also to set good standards and examples for us as kids. They were also a subtle way of telling us kids what they expected of us and how they wanted us to act. Their intentions were good but it doesn't change the fact that they were still lies.

One of the very popular false claims and lies parents tell is as regards their academics.
Almost every parent talk about how they were the best during their school days and how they came out tops in their class everytime. sometimes this makes me wonder and I ask myself "if every parents came first in class, then who came second, third or even last ?." Does it mean that they weren't dull students during their time ??.

They always talk about how they were celebrated for their outstanding academic feats, sometimes they get carried away and even say some very ridiculously untrue things like ; " I was smarter than my teacher when I was 5 " I have even heard a parent praise himself and said that he began reading story books and writing very well at age 3. ( Is it even possible to read story books at age 3 ?)

Another lie most parents say is this " I never made my parents angry when I was younger ". Whenever I hear this, I get really amazed . I try not to laugh even though it really sounds ridiculous and unrealistic to me. I just conclude that parents that say this didn't pass through childhood stage. They probably were born adults, else how is it possible that they had never made their parents angry. Kids must be kids and one very peculiar characteristics of children is that they're very adventurous and this makes them ruin a lot of stuffs and make their parents angry. I child that has never upset their parents is definitely not a child. He/she is an adult. (Let's call that child an adult baby. It means our parents were adult-babies)

Another false statement most parents especially the ones in my country Nigeria say is this " I never had a boyfriend or girlfriend in my youth till I got married ". The always claim never to have been in any relationship or kissed anyone at all

This is one big lie, although they say it because they want to protect the kids from relationship issues and dissuade them from engaging in premarital sex and the aftermath of it. I find it really funny how they say it with a straight face, like it's actually the truth. It makes me wonder if they never had a crush or their body chemistry was different from the people of this generation and whether they never had emotions too. I also wonder whether they just saw their wives and husbands then they walk up to them and say let's get married and they just move straight to the alter.

Parents can also be wily . they can be very con too. If they want the kids to stop complaining or they want to take something from them especially monies gifted to the kids by people, they tell some lies or make some promises that the kids would never realize are lies until they grow up.

One thing my parents always told me whenever they wanted to take monies from me was " baby give me your money to hold for you, I will give it back later". I always gave them but there was never a later. Whenever I hear a parent say the same thing to a kid , I'm always tempted to scream "No!!!!, don't give your money to them, there is never a later ".

my parents also told me that they would save the money in my account and before I knew it, I would have so much money and I will be rich. I made sure I gave them all I had because I wanted to be rich but I didn't even get a dime back, how much more becoming rich.

And yes! When Christmas is approaching just like now, I hear more lies and blackmails than during every other time.
Parents and older siblings always say that santa knows if we're naughty and if we aren't in our good behaviors, we won't get anything from him.
I am most cautious during these times because I fear I may just ruin my Christmas if I am not careful. My siblings and parents make me run errands and do a lot of stuffs for them and I do it without complaining. Most times I never even got the kind of gifts I wanted and they'd say I didn't behave well enough to get the gift. They would then advise that I do better next year so I would get a better gift.
These were all lies but I fell for them all. When I think about them I can't help but laugh. parents are indeed tricksters, I hope I don't do the same when I have my own kids 😂😂😂
