Crusader Kings 3: My Initial Opinions

So it has been a bit over a week since the awaited Crusader Kings 3 released and boy has it been fun. In these past few days, I have amassed almost 2 days of gameplay time, just a bit over 46.7 hours!

And I have to say, they don't feel wasted at all, I have been having a lot of fun but there's also a couple of hiccups here and there to be expected with every game launch. A couple of crashes to desktop come to mind 2 or 3 in the release day alone but that's ok, it was promptly fixed with the release of patch 1.03 after the first day.

The biggest fish in the room to me right now is the terrible balance in the 867 start date, where Vikings, especially Swedish ones are the way to overpowered, to the point they have colonies in Iberia, North Afrika and I've seen them down as far as west Afrika and the Levant. It is hilarious how in every paradox game, Sweden is a bit overpowered at the start due to them being a Swedish company but this time, boy this time they went too far with it!

Hopefully, this will be addressed since the game only has two start dates, 867 and 1066 and I personally prefer to start at the earliest dates possible.

Achievements have also been a lot of fun this time around, I'm eventually gonna sit down and attempt to get them all before the next DLC comes around but right now I'm just enjoying doing playthroughs I had planned in my mind way before release and maybe after I'm done with that, I'll take care of the achievements!

Right now I'm standing at 16/56 achievements but these are mostly just the easier ones that come by just playing a bit (for the connoisseurs, yes that's the rare achievement border of Steam but they are not rare at all, it is just that not many players have completed them yet since the game is so new after all!)

The common complaint right now you will see around the various communities is "The game is missing X feature I liked" but this is not an issue for the majority since we all know one way or another they will all find themselves back better and improved into the game, Paradox keeps themselves afloat with DLCs and CK3 is no exception. In my opinion, this is the most complete game they have released so far, able to stand on its own to feet at release instead of disaster cases like HoI4 and Stellaris that needed multiple DLC to get good and fun.

I can guarantee that you can jump into CK3 today and you will have a blast, no matter if you played CK2 or not, after all, who doesn't love playing Game of Throne fantasies, growing your family, killing people, incest, seducing your sister and having bastards? :-D

I'm always looking for people to play around in multiplayer, so If you are around and have the game maybe we could add each other as friends and have some fun in CK3 as well!
