Driving around in Miri
Hi hi.. I am @luueetang. I hope that you are feeling great and happy. It's Saturday again. Today, I am going to bring you around Miri city. Recently, a new flyover has been completed which is part of the Pan Borneo Highway in Sarawak. I was pretty excited to drive up this flyover. Miri has lots of greens. I guess, the city loves them green. The best way to get around the city is to drive around. I usually have my GoPro mounted on my windscreen. GoPro has superb stabilization capabilities.
MIRI AIRPORT FLYOVER
This new flyover just opened to the public and is part of the Pan Borneo Island that stretches thousands of kilometres from one end of Northern Borneo to the other end of Borneo.
Bintang Megamall
One of the earliest malls in the city and is quite popular even till today. Even with the pandemic, this mall has been able to stand strong. In a month, Brunei borders are opening and the roads are going to be jammed heavily during weekends.
Fire Station on the left
One of the fire stations in the city. There is a flyover up ahead. That building is Wisma 2020. The first tall building in Miri. Currently, only a couple of floors have shops that open and one section of it is leased to the local government.
On the way up here, I took a left. This road this to the general hospital in Miri. Honda Showroom.
Just ahead is the general hospital that is hidden.
Pan Borneo highway in person
The other side of the road is still under construction. Pan Borneo Highway allocated two lanes on each side and in the middle separated by a kerb.
Some cars have already been testing out that new road on the other side. That is the road forward in the distant future and the lane I am in is going to be two lanes that run the opposite direction from the other lane.
Miri Airport Flyover
It feels quite amazing to drive up a new flyover that spirals. Sarawak roads do not have any toll booth to collect tolls.
Heading down
Smooth ride up and down the road.
The yellow arrows and lines are temporary markings
The flyover from the side of the road beneath.
Miri Airport on the left
That is the airport on the left.
Another view of the flyover
It looks like a snake from far.
Back to the main city. I love driving up this particular flyover. Looking at the cityscapes. In front is a crane that is on the last few floors of a new hotel.
I love to drive around the city. I hope that you enjoy watching this driving tour around Miri. Once the borders open in a month to Brunei, I will be driving around Brunei. There is a suspension bridge that stretches 30 kilometres that opened during the lockdown which I have not been to yet. This is the longest bridge in Southeast Asia.

That suspension bridge looks like an amazing feat of engineering. I've never seen such a long bridge in any of my travels. It's quite a sight to see.
It takes around half and hour drive along the whole bridge... Hehehe... Cost Brunei government more than a billion just to built that bridge. 😀👍
Wow, that is an expensive build. I'm surprised there is no toll fees to use it. It would be amazing to drive over.
