Morning to all my wonderful friends here at Hive. ☀️ It is the rainy season here in Miri. What better way to start the day off than to enjoy a hot breakfast?

This is going to be a hamster and food post.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Do you like eating fried rice?

My wife is ordering from the menu.

Do you want to know what is so special about this place? It is that the food here is all vegan. No animals are harmed while I eat here.

The cafe - this is a new cafe in Miri.

It is clean and air-conditioned. Sometimes the simplest meals taste the best — fragrant fried rice, a bit of wok-hei, and that comforting local flavour that reminds you why Miri food is always worth waking up early for.

The best way to enjoy the morning is just to sit there and do nothing for a while. At the same time, enjoy the moment in life.

The first dish that came first

The Wanton

Nothing beats a bowl of well-wrapped wanton served hot. The wanton is usually cooked in hot boiling water, and the best way to eat this dish is while it is still hot. It feels like a game where you grab each wanton using a chopstick is a challenge in itself. It requires a lot of skill as it is, at times, slippery. If all else fails, I usually just use the spoon and scoop the wanton.

Usually, at most restaurants, the wanton is made of meat on the inside, but this place serves vegan wanton. Usually, they minced tofu and mushroom as meat replacement.

A cup of kopi c. This is the Malaysian version of the milk tea. Smooth, strong, milky, and mine without sugar. I love drinking coffee throughout the day, so I usually drink coffee without any sugar to reduce my calorie intake.

Fried rice has arrived

A hot plate of fried rice. Overnight rice is usually preferred for frying.

Sitting there scrolling on my phone while waiting for the food and drinks. Every other table does that except for the older folks who still rely on everyday verbal communication.

Fried Salted Egg mushroom rice

Yummy. This is indeed a yummy dish. Instead of having meat, the fried mushroom replaces the meat. It is fried till it is golden brown. I am not sure if salted egg flavour is popular in other places or not.

At night, I went to eat sushi with my wife at Dondon Sushi.

Somehow, this place doesn't have anyone eating here. It's quite strange sometimes how businesses can just have no one.

I feel quite awkward.

I ordered one of these. This is still alright.

The nice wall art. Indeed. Just where are the other customers? I have seen reviews where they mentioned that they felt quite in the open as they ate here with no other customers.

The items on the menu seems quite reasonable.

This is a must-order dish.

My hamster I have two dwarf hamsters

It is time for me to change the bedding and give it a good bath. It does not take a regular bath. There is a special sand that is used. No worries, I treat my hamsters quite well. I have to hold it tight just in case, it runs away.
