A short breakfast at Lawas. I was heading to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

A short stop for breakfast before continuing my 8-hour drive to Kota Kinabalu.

We were at the Lawas market.

Lots of people here eating breakfast. Lots of people. I ordered a plate of noodles. After this stop, the next place where I was going to have lunch was 8 hours away. I reduced my water intake just to reduce having to go to the toilet.

Had a plate of local noodles. The kolo mee.

Enough fuel for the drive.

Lawas is in Sarawak and Kota Kinabalu is in Sabah. Even though both states are Malaysian states, I still had to get through a checkpoint.

A while ago, I traveled to West Malaysia, there were no borders between states.

Sabah is one the popular tourist destinations. Many Bruneians travel there for vacation.

Finally, I got to the immigration post. Stamped my passport. I was traveling with my mom-in-law, my wife, and my sister-in-law. A one-week trip.

After getting our passports chopped, it was driving time.

I had my camera mounted on the windscreen. Most roads are quite good.

Many of the roads were still under construction.

Drove 8 hours approximately and finally reached Kota Kinabalu. We stopped by Ganang rest house. My wife saw this house that sells very good Avocado drinks. So we decided to get a couple of cups there.

Opposite of this is a prison.

This was the first time I had seen a prison up close. In Sarawak, they are placed far from the main city area.

Wow, these fences are quite high.

Got myself a cup of EL's Avocado drink. We were very near the city. The next day, we planned to drive up the mountain.
