Miri International Airport
Good morning… how has your Monday been?
Today I am going to bring you to a special place here in Miri that may be upgraded not so long in the future.
This is the Miri International Airport
美力国际飞机场
This is one of the busiest airports in Malaysia, catering to around 2.5 million visitors. Miri is just next to Brunei, so a lot of Bruneians find it cheaper to fly from Miri. The only feature that is still missing is the international flight. At the moment, this is still being proposed and ongoing, but there is an expansion that is planned. Why did I visit the airport?
I wanted to buy some tickets for my parents for a short trip.

This is the main atrium of the airport. There is an advert " Visit Malaysia 2026."

There are a lot of shops here too. But the shops here close quite early. This airport is not too far from the main city area so if your heading to the airport from the city area, it is not too far away.

There is also a photo booth here. You can take some photos before you head to your favourite destination. During peak months, this place is filled with passengers. It is due for an upgrade. The runway here is around 2.73 km.

A convenience store
You can buy some things that are made in Sarawak.

Layered Cake or Kek Lapis
Quite a popular type of cake here in Sarawak. This cake is made with a lot of patience. It takes a lot of time to slowly heat layer by layer the cake.

Sarawak brand chocolates

The waiting area outside of the airport.

The ticketing booth for AirBorneo
This airline has been bought by the Sarawak government and has been in operation since January 2026. A popular choice for domestic flight inside of Sarawak.

This is a short tour of Miri International Airport.
Thank you very much for reading this post. Have a great day.

I never seen before in KL. First time I eat this kek lapis that bought from my friend, she from sarawak, she bakes cakes herself and sells them.
